Flute (and piano) are my main instruments. I have considerable experience playing them and teaching them to all levels and ages of students. I have performed on these instruments in various settings.

About Amy
As I child I had an early interest in music, dancing and creative things. I took piano lessons and excelled at my chosen instrument, the flute, in band at school. I continued with my music training at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Education in 1992. I worked for 11 years in my profession in various settings before I took a break to start my family. My experience includes teaching students in classroom general music, choir, band, piano lessons, and school plays/musicals. I spent six years at a private school (grades K-8), three years at a charter elementary school and 2 years at a public elementary school. Also, since graduating in 1992 I have spent a total of 18 years teaching private lessons both at Hovland Conservatory of Music and in my home. Along the way I
further broadened my background by accompanying church choirs and congregations, playing for weddings, and volunteering to lead children’s music time at church.

I love music of all kinds and have a strong belief that everyone should experience the joy and power of it in his or her life. It is very rewarding for me to help students develop their skills as they discover a meaningful way of self-expression using a universal language. Teaching music is something I love to do and I know that fact reflects to my students resulting in an enjoyable experience for them as well.

*** Lesson Details ***
What can a student/parent expect from lessons with me? I can provide my students with a solid foundation of proper technique. This is so very important because you do not ever want to have to unlearn bad habits. I also include appropriate music theory, ear training and improvising for each level. I purposefully pace the lessons to prevent students from feeling frustrated. Instead, I work to generate excitement about the learning process and keep students motivated by their own progress. Furthermore, I am willing to accommodate a student if they have a special interest in a certain musical genre or a personal goal they are working towards. I encourage, but do not require students to take advantage of recital and performance opportunities that I provide.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Large music room: piano, electric keyboard, flute, clarinet, trumpet, music stands.
*** Specialties ***
I have a lot of experience teaching students who are brand new to their instrument. I believe the beginning is a very important time to start building a solid foundation for all future musical growth. I love being able to help my students establish good habits from the beginning and influence the overall direction of a new student’s musical experience.

I love music of all kinds and have fun playing and teaching all the instruments that I listed. However, the two instruments that I have the most training on and have performed on are the piano and the flute. I would be a great teacher for private lessons to help a student excel in band at school or for a high school student preparing for contests or auditions. Also, I am very patient with beginners and would be ideal as a child'€™s first piano teacher or for an adult who has always wanted to play a certain instrument of his or her choice.

I like Amy very much and I think we will get along very well. She is very patient and reminds me that perfection is impossible at the beginning of any instrument learning. I will enjoy having her very much.

I'm very good with young students. Flute is very difficult for smaller, younger ones because of the instruments size. And it's difficult to even get a sound sometimes.

About Schroeder
" There's a difference between playing the notes and making the Music. Wanna know the difference? "I've been a professional musician and teacher for over 35 years. I have a degree from the University of Minnesota and I studied music at the University of St. Thomas when I was in high school. I've performed and recorded with numerous artist including The Temptations, Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits), Bobby Z, Billy McLaughin, Presidential Inauguration 2005, The Shirelles, Martha Reeves, Larry King, The Guess Who, Quiet Riot, Loverboy, J. Hoye and many more. I received the Certificate of Achievement from Billboard Magazine for production and songwriting, etc.,etc. enough about me though.

Every student is different so I like to base lessons for each student upon their strengths and weaknesses. Some students are just
beginning, others want to improve upon their skills. Some students want to learn more about Classical music, others want to learn jazz and improvisation, others rock and roll or country et. al.. Others want to know why

At age 12, I wanted to play piccolo in a marching band. though I was soon to be inspired by the amazing young musicians of the Seattle Youth Symphony and camp Orchestras under Maestro Vilem Sokol. Then thrilled to join them after having the good fortune of training with the then Seattle Symphony flute/piccolo players- Sidney and Adele Zeitlin, I began as a classical flute and voice major at WWSU in Bellingham.
My growing attraction to theater, then jazz, led me to Seattle UW San Francisco S U drama departments, while studying and playing every improvisational style of music from Brazilian to free form and pop/rock with many artists such as Paul Horn, Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Chuck Sher (Sher Music publisher), touring with renowned bebop vocalist, Jon Hendricks from the west coast to NYC,

Since then, I have performed voice, flute, and picollo in my own and others' numerous classical, jazz, pop, and theater ensembles, for over 45 years, teaching flute and voice since age 17 at

About Abby
IMPORTANT NOTICE: ** Because my private lessons are sporadically scheduled between other teaching, and I have found students over age 12 to need in depth lessons, the minimum time for them per session is ONE HOUR. ******

Due to my maternal grandfather's career as a Chicago vaudeville orchestra leader, from early childhood, the performing arts have been in my blood. Starting to study classical flute at age 12, then playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and taking professional jazz/classical flute workshops/master classes, I've been teaching and playing all styles of flute music professionally since my 20's.

Vocal study began at age 15 with some great artists/educators in SF, Seattle, and Europe, including Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Broadway singer Adrian West, David Tigner- SF Opera, Davida Kagan-Seattle Opera, and Rol
and Wyatt-
Manhattan Transfer coach /NY Academy of Dramatic Arts. Through many years of teaching experience, I've developed a very successful, uniquely simple 8 part method to help cross cultural individuals/groups of all ages , styles, and levels, sing optimally from their hearts. The necessary basic vocal techniques can be taught effectively in 4 to 8 lessons, though the learning process takes longer and can continue throughout one's lifetime.

With a BA in Theater Arts from SFSU, and over 50 years directing, acting, and musical experience, including the last 15 years also working successfully as an ESL educator, I have gained the confidence to help almost any student achieve their personal and/or professional goals.

Experienced teacher of 10 years, specializing in brass, woodwinds, and beginner/intermediate jazz! I just landed in Shoreview, MN from the top-shelf music programs of Poway Unified School District in San Diego, CA. Whether you are just learning your first notes or you're ready to start jazz improvisation, let's jam!

About Dayna
I am a life-long musician, performing with my vocalist mother from age 4 and studying piano and voice for all of my childhood. However, it all changed the day my 5th grade band teacher put a tuba on my shoulder. It was a match right from the start and, from that day forward, my life has revolved around school band. I earned my Bachelor of Music Education from South Dakota State University, marching with the Pride of the Dakotas for the 2000 Independence Day parade in Washington D.C. as well as in the 2003 Tournament of Roses Parade. Upon graduation I taught in rural South Dakota schools for 4 years before packing up and moving to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a career in songwriting. While composing is still a part of what I do as a musician, I missed teaching and took a position with a prestigious middle school music program in San Diego, C
A. I taught individual lessons, small ensembles, and jazz band there for 5 years, before packing up once again and heading for the Twin Cities where, with any luck, I'll once again have a full studio of amazing students!

I continuously perform, write, and play music and I love to tailor lessons toward the goals and interests of each student. I incorporate different styles and techniques that help students at any level be a greater success!

For over more than 20 years I have had many successful students, who have enjoyed playing and studying with me. Teaching is a life-giver for me--I enjoy introducing students to the joys of different musical ideas, concepts, and ways that they can advance on their instrument. Things that I have enjoyed learning and playing over the years, that I can pass on to them to explore and enjoy. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music, and have taught as an adjunct on the college level, high school, and privately. On the college level, I have taught clarinet, saxophone, and flute at three colleges, a Woodwind Methods class for five years, developed jazz ensembles, and developed and procured music for woodwind trios and saxophone quartets.

I have played professionally in these settings; jazz, symphonic, pit orchestra, and general business entertainment freelance as a woodwinds specialist.

I am a current college student majoring in music therapy. My major instrument is flute with a minor in piano. I am in the prime of the music world, so I can tell you exactly what people are looking for! In high school, I auditioned for and performed in district and region band, district honors band, SRU honors flute ensemble, and district jazz band on piano. Whether you want to learn for fun or want to make a career of music, I would love to share this gift of song with you!

About Grace
I am a current music therapy student at Slippery Rock University. I have been playing piano for over thirteen years and flute for over ten. In high school, I participated in concert band on flute and piccolo, jazz band on piano, and marching band as drum major. I also played in the school musical's pit orchestra on piano. I love making music, and to me there is no greater gift than sharing that love with another person. Some of my favorite artists are The Beatles, Billy Joel, and Demi Lavato. However, I love to play jazz and especially love George Gershwin. I hope we have something in common!
