- 10 Years Teaching Experience
- Professional Musician
- Flexible teaching style (written notation, ear training, play-a-long songs)
- Patient & fun learning environment

About John
Hi, I'm John! I'm a full-time musician, currently splitting my time between teaching drums and touring with indie rock band Step Rockets. I've been fortunate enough to spend the past 12 years teaching, recording, and performing across North America.

I started drumming at the age of 10, honing my chops under the tutelage of drummer/vibraphonist Steve Roehm, member of the acclaimed Twin Cities jazz trio, The New Standards. I continued my musical education at St. Olaf College, where I played drums in the college's nationally accredited Jazz One ensemble while studying percussion with jazz veterans Phil Hey and Dave Hagedorn. I then spent three years teaching students in St. Paul Public Schools while developing a strong base of private drum students in the Twin Cities.

I love sharing my passion for drums with people of all ages
and musical backgrounds. I provide a fun and stimulating learning environment in which students can foster their drum skills and grow their love of music. I have a thorough understanding of drumming technique coupled with an in-depth knowledge of different styles and genres, which I've accumulated through playing with a wide variety of bands and ensembles.

*** Lesson Details ***
I provide a laid back atmosphere, ensuring that lessons are equal parts fun and education. I tailor my curriculum based on my students' skill level and interests. I can teach any number of drum set skills, from technique and music reading to advanced coordination and improvisation.

23 Years playing experience, 13 years of teaching, stage performance, technique, rudiments, drills, fills, all styles, specializes in rock, funk, hip-hop and R&B.

About Colin
Colin has 20 years of experience spanning all genre's and styles of music. Countless hours of stage performance with bands. A love, drive and passion for music and drumming you won't find in any other instructor! Multiple studio recordings both behind the mixing board and behind the drum set. 10 years of teaching experience, realizing the importance of setting a unique curriculum for each student tailored to fit each individual's goals and interests. I have been involved in bands ever since middle school, starting with rock, and moving on to perform in country bands, hip-hop performances, indie rock bands, and progressive rock bands. A strong knowledge of jazz techniques and music theory as well as the ability to read drum sheet music make me a perfect instructor for any student.
I have had many beginner and intermediate level student's
and have become proficient in determining what skills each individual student needs to work on as well as helping students progress in their interests, keeping the lessons fun and the student motivated. I can easily transcribe any song as well! So any song you might want to learn, even if there is no sheet music, is totally doable. I love working in odd time signatures and I prefer fancy hi-hat work over heavy double-bass drum use. Progressive / Indie rock is my favorite genre of music to play, but I have tons of fun playing hip-hop, punk, metal, I dabble in jazz, Latin rhythms, and pretty much anything else. I'm always excited to play drums, and I pass this excitement on in my teachings.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons and curriculum's are built around a students experience level, age, and goals. Students will learn the fundamentals of drumming, as well as the ability to add flair and pizzazz to their playing. Within the first 3 months, a beginning level student will have the ability to play basic beats found in many styles of music, as well as feeling comfortable playing to a metronome and keeping time. Lessons will include routines to be practiced by the student on their own time, as well as fun, exciting techniques to keep students interested and motivated to continue playing.
Each Lesson will hold its own highlights depending on the student. I believe getting to know the student and their goals for their drumming is one of the most important aspects of teaching lessons. Understanding whether the student is looking to drum as a hobby and for fun will change the lesson style dramatically compared to a student looking to make a living off drumming. The types of routines, styles and techniques taught should fit into helping the student reach their desired destination.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the basement, full band rehearsal set up with 2 drum kits, one for the student, one for the teacher in an acoustically treated room.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect the student to have a drum set and drum sticks. I can provide a drum set for lessons but it is important for the student to have a drum set or practice pad to practice.

*** Specialties ***
I have touched on almost every genre of music. I specialize in rock, progressive rock, funk and fusion.

Beginners only.

About Jeff
I have been playing guitar for 30 years and teaching guitar and bass on and off since 2001. I owned a music school/store/studio in NY for several years but now live in MN. I work well with kids and enjoy watching them grow as musicians and people.

I also like to do "Family/Band" lessons--where we get each member on an instrument (guitar, bass, piano, drums, etc.) and the family/group learns to play songs together--or jam, or write and record their own songs! Since there isn't really a platform for it through this website, my price listed for a "90-minute" lesson is not actually 90 minutes, but rather a 45-minute lesson for a group of up to four people.

I primarily offer lessons in my home studio but will consider coming to you if its preferred.

I also teach beginner level piano, mandolin, and drums and built, sell and custom
ize electric guitars. My in-house store stocks tuners, capos, strings, picks, straps, cables, etc. As well as Jamster guitars.

Paul is an amazing teacher and mentor. Today we tackled harmonies while recording and it was so special to me. Paul is dedicated to his craft and his students. He prepares for each lesson, whether vocal or piano, and pushes me further along while reinforcing what we learned previously. He's just the perfect balance of strict and encouraging, always leaving me with a lesson that I had not anticipated and a whole lot of fun. I am so happy I found a teacher as great as Paul, he is truly one of a kind!

I teach all levels and styles of drumset. I tend to focus on groove and playing for the music while also making sure the student has a firm grasp on fundamentals and technique.

About Andy
I started playing drums when I was 9 years old. My passion grew through high school and I decided to go to college for music. I attended the Jazz / commercial music program at Temple University, graduating with a bachelor of Music degree. During my university training I had the opportunity to play in all kinds of Jazz, Funk and Fusion and Rock bands. I also played snare drum with the Temple Diamond Marching Band for 2 seasons as well as playing a season with the classical percussion ensemble.

Upon graduation I became involved with many local Philadelphia rock bands and played shows all over the Delaware Valley. I began teaching drum lessons at area music stores as well as worked as a recording engineer at the production music company Musicrafters.

After college and always hungry to learn more about my instrument, I traveled to New Yor
k City to study at Drummers Collective with Sandy Gennaro (Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper) and Pete Zeldman. During this time I played with two very successful Philly based rock bands, Tenth House and Iota and the Minor Details.

Prior to moving to Los Angeles I was based in Asheville North Carolina where I played with several area artists. In 2014-2015 I did a substantial amount of touring all over the East Coast and Midwest with an alternative folk indie band called Matt Townsend and the Wonder of the World.

Currently I am located in Los Angeles.

I look forward to being your drum teacher !

Hey folks, Ive been slamming my drums for about 20 years, I have a fun exciting approach to teaching. Sometimes it can be boring to get bogged down with rudiments and classic drum lesson material, Im not that kind of teacher. I have a back round in psychology as well as music, and I understand the importance making any subject exciting to the audience. So heres my approach laid out below in a few easy steps.

1. Ask you what music you love, and what are some songs you want to learn how to play.
2. While helping you to rock out to your favorite songs, like a pro, I will be assessing certain chops you need to work on.
3. Slowly work in some basic drum rudiment work, to help you play the songs you love even better, and add in some of your own flare.
4. Eventually have you perform one of your songs live in front of friends and family, if you feel up to it.
5. Continue to build your skills in an organic, fun, engaging , performance goal focused teaching method that I truly believe in.
