Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

Brendon is a wonderful cello instructor for my son. He is not only patient but also very inspiring. He listens to our wishes and needs, and he designs the lesson plan to meet them. In addition, he is very good at building a strong bonding with his student. Brendon has recently moved away from our town, and my son can no longer taking lessons from him. But I know my son will always remembers Brendon fondly as his best cello instructor.

Brendon is a wonderful teacher and a gifted musician. I feel like I have more knuckles than fingers when playing, but he's patient and has produced - in my own humble opinion - a competent cellist out of me.

Taking cello lessons from Susan has been a wonderful experience for my child, and it has been lovely for me to associate with her. Susan has passion, warmth, and many years of experience. Initially, it can be a bit overwhelming (especially as a parent with little musical experience) to take in all that Susan will throw at you, but soon you will see the benefits of her broad range of knowledge and the holistic education she offers. She covers the many facets of playing cello, including rhythm, reading music, theory, group practices, careful attention to bow hold, tone production, performance, ensemble playing and listening. She is consistent and reliable. My child looks forward to Susan’s lessons each week and has commented, “Susan always finds something good, then gives me ideas on how to make it better.” She puts a lot of time, resources, and creativity into enriching activities that motivate kids to stay engaged and practice regularly. We highly recommend her!

I love playing and teaching the cello, and I'm so excited to share that with you. I make lessons fun and engaging, and you'll leave feeling positive and determined. I believe that the technique should serve the music, so we'll always focus on creating art and telling a story. Cello playing mirrors life, so what we do in the practice room will have much larger applications than you might anticipate! From beginning students learning the basics to advanced players who need a push in the right direction, I can guarantee you'll improve quickly and have a great time doing it.

About Claire
I'm a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where I recently won the 2017 Cello Competition to perform the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1 with orchestra. Previously, I attended Yale University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in psychology. I have spent most of my summers performing at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, and I have played in festivals from Indiana to Italy. My cello teachers have included Eric Kim (Jacobs), Richard Aaron (Juilliard), Alan Harris (Eastman School), Maria Kisoupolos (NY Philharmonic), Eric Bartlett (NY Philharmonic), and Wolfram Koessel (American String Quartet). I'm an active performer on the East Coast, collaborating with artists such as harpist Nancy Allen and flutist Carol Wincenc. I have taught almost as long as I have played, beginning with local communi
ty service and growing to teach as part of the Aspen Music Festival PALS program. I live and breathe the cello, and I can't wait to share my passion with you.

My goal is to help you become the cellist you want to be! I am excited to teach students of all levels. I believe a core foundation in classical technique is the key to success, and I emphasize that in my teaching. With that said, I love exploring other genres such as pop and folk. Let's make music together!

About Julia
I have been playing the cello for 12 years, and in those years I have experienced many different approaches to teaching. No two students are alike, and I cater every lesson to the student's personal needs. I have a Bachelor's degree in cello performance from Ithaca College, Whalen School of Music, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

My main goal is to create a fun, engaging, encouraging and inspiring relationship with my students. I often play alongside my students during lessons to create a more comfortable atmosphere, as well as allowing me to demonstrate whatever it is I am trying to teach. At times in my cello studies, I found practicing to be difficult because I wasn't playing repertoire I wanted to play, rather, playing only what my teacher felt was best. I have taken those personal
struggles and applied them to my own teaching style. While technique and standard classical repertoire is incredibly important to a students development as a cellist, I like to incorporate music that the student is passionate about as well, whether it be pop music, folk, rock, you name it! I think it is really important for a student to make their own choices in their musical development.

At this point in my career, I am most passionate about chamber music. I find when I'm playing alongside other musicians, I feel the most comfortable and can express myself openly. As a chamber music coach, I strive to help a group connect, both as musicians and as people, so they can perform passionately and experience all of the fun that small ensemble music has to offer.

Let me help you become the musician YOU want to be! I look forward to making music with you.

Hello! My name is Joseph Falconer. I believe that learning a musical instrument is a valuable activity because it provides a means of self-expression, self-confidence through diligence and recognition, and a deeper understanding of the music they listen to. It can also help students understand other cultures- which is important in an age of global interdependence. The renowned pedagogue, Dr. Suzuki, believed that every child can learn to play a musical instrument, which is why I readily offer the opportunity to anyone. Master's Candidate in Music Education, University of Tennessee; Bachelor of Music Degree, Middle TN State University; Registered Suzuki Method Instructor. Experience with students with special needs.
