About Austin

Austin has been great teaching my 8 year old ukulele. He is patient with the struggles of a young beginner. He takes a nice pace without rushing, but also keeps my kid focused, which is no easy task. Learning an instrument over video, rather than in person, is an extra challenge, but Austin is good at observing, demonstrating, and talking through hand positioning and other nuances despite being over a screen. I also appreciate the lesson notes, and links to materials!

Taking up Ukulele was a great way to look at music from a new perspective. I love teaching ukulele to younger kids who cannot make chords on a guitar quite yet as well as adults who are serious musicians that have been playing for years. I welcome everyone from the novice to the hobbyist and do my best work with student requests.

About Geoff

I played on a toy piano when I was very young, learning a bit of sight reading from my Mother, while listening to classical, jazz, and rock music. When I was 12, I learned guitar and later took private piano lessons from a prominent Philadelphia instructor. After playing in a rock band in high sc

I totally enjoyed my class with Geoff. We immediately started my lesson with tuning the ukulele. Then we went over the cords and strumming. I have been researching on playing the ukulele and his explanation on the strumming was a lot better than the book. He is teaching me how to play by listening to the notes which is great because I would be able to play the Hawaiian music for my hula classes. In addition, his studio is only a 5 minute drive from my house, which means I don’t have to deal with traffic.

"David was very knowledgeable about music and made it easy to understand. This was especially important to me since I am starting new, not having any musical background other than a love for music and a passion to play. This instructor helped me realize I have potential which is also important. After just one lesson I was able to take what he taught me and put some of his advice together musically and it is starting to make sense. I am looking forward to my future lessons!"

"My daughter began classes with Nick as part of her after school program with a group of elementary school kids who signed up for group Ukulele classes. When quarantine started due to COVID, we all had to switch to remote zoom classes with Nick. Teaching music remotely must be challenging but Nick never made it seem challenging. He was always so patient and age-appropriate with the kids and communicated often with the parents. After the group lessons ended, we decided to continue with 1:1 classes with Nick. He really allowed my daughter to go at her own pace but still challenge her. He does ear training as well and now my daughter can play along with many songs she likes, just by figuring out the notes on her own. Nick's follow up emails after each lesson made sure we are aware of what he worked on and any HW our daughter should work on. Our daughter has progressed so much in just a few months of starting a new instrument! Nick is really a kind and amazing teacher!"

"Carolyn is a wonderful teacher! Our 9-year-old daughter has been taking ukulele lessons (online) with her for a few weeks now. She came to LOVE her lessons, and has already made a lot of progress. Carolyn is an accomplished musician and singer (beautiful voice!!), yet she has no problem taking a beginner's perspective and explaining things in a clear, simple, kid-friendly way. She is fun and easy-going, and also incredibly patient. Overall, great experience!"
