A great instrument to begin with and to learn the basics of music, but also a great secondary instrument to learn from a new perspective. Whether you are just getting started or have been playing for years and have found yourself in a rut and want to refresh and do some new things, ukulele lessons will help you to set and realize your goals in music.

Did you know the Ukulele is tuned exactly like the top 4 strings of a guitar capoed up 5 frets, and the 4th string is tuned an octave up? this being the case, all the shapes one learns on one or the other is transferable knowledge! Want to know more about nature's most accessible chording instrument? Give Uke lessons a try.

I've had a great experience with Rick so far. He quickly identified my level of play and has provided good content for me to learn as well as new styles. Very knowledgeable on banjo, I would recommend to anyone looking to improve their banjo skills.

The ukulele is a friendly-looking instrument. While the basics may be a little easier to pick up on than the guitar, strum patterns still might come as a challenge. I enjoy breaking down strum patterns of popular songs like "Riptide" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" to help students play them just like the song. Beyond the beginner level, I enjoy showing how the ukulele can be treated like a small classical guitar, playing virtuosic pieces on the travel-size instrument.

About Chris

Chris grew up hearing his dad play guitar around the house and at live shows. He “caught the bug” around age 13 and hasn’t stopped playing since! He’s been teaching guitar since 2003 and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music at North Central University in 2008 where he studied jazz, blues, rock, c

My 15 year-old son started guitar this summer. He has truly enjoyed working with Chris. Chris is patient and encouraging, as well as being a cool guy that my son looks up to.
Helen
My 13-years old son was reluctant to take music lessons. He had not liked piano (with a different instructor) when he was younger, but agreed to try guitar. Since the first trial lesson, he has been excited to learn more!

Chris is a fun teacher who knows his stuff and who communicates well with both his students and their parents. I have three kids and have found it’s difficult to find a teacher who is responsive to parents + engaging with youth + gifted at music.

His rates are very reasonable for our area. His in-home lesson space is professional and comfortable — I get to sit on a comfy couch and get work done during my son’s weekly lesson. In addition, Chris goes above and beyond to make sure the lessons are meeting our expectations. He tracked down strings for us when we accidentally broke one. He has rescheduled lessons due to our busy schedules. He is genuinely kind and such a pleasure to work with — we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Brian
Our kids have loved working with Chris. He picks songs they're excited to play, teaches them patiently, and has a lot of fun with them. They've made a ton of progress since they started with Chris, and they're always excited to see him!

Jeremy was great! My daughter’s first lesson went very well. Her first instructor joined the military, so we were left to select someone new. By God’s grace and a lot of help from Michael at TakeLessons, we landed on Jeremy’s profile. We couldn’t have gotten a better instructor the second time around! It’s like an extension of the first lessons! Jeremy is knowledgeable, kind, sincere, laid back, patient, and encouraging. What more could we ask for? As a mother, I really appreciate his communication with me via phone and email. If you are looking for a great instructor, you can do no better than Jeremy!
Mariam
Honestly could not have asked for a better instructor! I have heard nothing but good things from my kid, as well as seeing improvement in her playing. Very punctual and friendly!

Ukulele is a newer instrument to me, but I have been teaching and performing for over 8 years now. I have played music since age 5 starting with violin and later guitar, which I studied at Berklee College of Music. Uke became a recent passion as I formed an acoustic duo of cello and ukulele (and singing) called DvOd that has performed all over the NW and released a CD. I provide a core curriculum of basic technique and music knowledge, combined with customizing to the student's interest. From Traditional Hawaiian to Eddie Vedder to Jake Shimabukuro, I can help you learn your favorites.

About Eric

I have been teaching for over 15 years, performing and recording as a singer/songwriter/guitarist for over 30 years. Berklee College of Music

"Claire has been a delight as a teacher and CEO (Chief Enthusiasm Officer). I started from basically no musical training in many years and even a little apprehensive at the beginning. Claire teaches with such positivity that I did not feel self conscious or discouraged at any point. I felt very good about the progress from day one and was able to build on that. Claire has a deep technical understanding of music, but it's really her style and empathy that makes her effective, in my opinion. I have a ways to go, but I now have a base to improve from. I am no longer apprehensive in the least and look forward to each lesson. I highly recommend her as a teacher."
