My goal as a teacher is to help you reach your musical goals! My lessons consist of scales, duets, and solo repertoire. Each lesson is different depending on the student I am working with, but the core of my teach is based around these 3 areas.

About Victor

My name is Victor and I have been actively teaching cello for the past 7 years. In Ames, IA I had a studio of 8 students, all ranging from different age groups and abilities. I also have experience teaching online lessons, which require a slightly different approach than in person lessons. I recentl

My 9 year old's first cello lesson. She loved it. A great teacher with a lot of patience, insight and tact.

Victor is a wonderful teacher. He’s very patient and focuses a lot on the important fundamentals. I’m an adult student and he was very encouraging and helpful.

As a 40 year old beginner I was a little nervous about the whole online experience as well as starting a new instrument. Victor makes the online teaching experience seamless. Victor is calm, thoughtful and patient. He always finds a way to explain something in a way that relates to me specifically. To do this someone must be able to listen as well as teach. This is quality I have not found in all of my teachers/instructors/coaches throught the years. Victor is also easily the most flexible of any teacher I have had. He always finds a way to accommodate my schedule and works around any issues that arise. I have really enjoyed my learning experience thus far and look forward to each lesson. I would not hesitate to recommend Victor to anyone looking to learn the cello.

I'm very good with young students. Flute is very difficult for smaller, younger ones because of the instruments size. And it's difficult to even get a sound sometimes.

In a world full of chaos the challenge is to find a practice that helps you calmly balance your physical & emotional being that you can instantly use anywhere. We will explore and personalize tools intended to help you calmly energize yourself using techniques utilized by singers, actors and public speakers to conquer stage fright & audition nerves.

Briefly, my method for teaching meditation practice is simple and straight forward with focus on a very specific breath exercise with the intent to pull all our physical and mental focus to a central point, helping to distract our 'less quiet' self into being a bit more quiet. The sessions are personalized to each individual's needs, meaning you can meditate from the couch, a comfy chair, or the floor in full lotus position. My environment is optimized for visual beauty and comfort in order to provide a welcoming and nurturing space to meditate. Primarily, we investigate removing restrictions to meditation, to help uncover a practice that

I had such a wonderful first time experience with Arlys that left me feeling refreshed and excited! Arlys has a way of being her authentic self and making you feel comfortable and confident all at the same time. Right away she had some very insightful things to teach me on singing that I will remember to put into practice. Can't wait to go to my next lesson! Thanks Arlys!

Arlys is great. She's obviously very experienced and a good instructor. I've never taken singing lessons before, so I don't know what to expect, but I felt relaxed and comfortable with her.

Raycurt is not only knowledgeable, he is extremely skilled. He is thorough and maximizes time by providing superb instruction. My son looks forward to attending his classes; and I am a parent who is beyond pleased with Raycurt’s level of expertise.

This was a really unfortunate and wasted experience. Raycurt was wildly unprepared to teach. He brought a broken metronome and almost no sheet music/lesson plan. I had spoken both to the sales rep and Raycurt himself prior to the lesson and he was still fully unprepared.

I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.

Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.

I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

I have played blues, hard rock, fingerpicking, folk, and jazz music on the guitar since 2006. I have played onstage in rock bands and jazz combos and received years of private instruction. I am a chronic improviser, a composer, a creative musician, and a music theory geek.

My enthusiasm for the guitar is related to its irreplaceable role in genres that are uniquely and beautifully American like blues, bluegrass, and rock 'n' roll.

I can teach you how to play the basics, how to solo, how to write a song, how to play jazz chords, how to play rock riffs, how to groove, how to fingerpick, or whatever you want to learn.

Check out my guitar lesson demo video on my profile to hear me play!

About Paul

I have played piano my whole life, and I also play guitar and trumpet. I love jazz, classical, contemporary, and rock music and many other diverse styles. I am an improviser, composer, and music theory enthusiast, very in touch with the creative side of music. I’m easygoing and patient. I put

As a self-taught guitarist who later went to college for music and now runs a guitar curriculum blog, I tailor all my lessons to the student's age, ability level, music interests, and preferred learning style. No matter what Riffs, Parts, Changes, and Improvisational skills you want to learn, I can teach you, but more than that, I can teach you how guitarists teach themselves.

About Richard

"Mr. Andrew is kind, funny and engaging.

My son (6) always has the best time at lesson and wants to know immediately when he gets to go back.

Our son has a lot on his plate and watching him have something that's just his that he is happy to do and enjoys this has been such a bright spot for our whole family.

- and Mr. Andrew is in direct correlation to that.

I recommend Mr. Andrew to anyone who is looking for a teacher who is kind, funny, engaging, and wants to help you succeed and gives you opportunities to use the skills you have learned."

How to Handle Rejection as an Actor

One of my college acting professors told us, “if you can’t handle rejection, find another major. Actors are rejected more than they’re cast. You will have to deal with rejection every day; and if you let it get to you, you won’t last long”. Those words stuck with me all these years: not only for their brutal honesty, but also because I wish I had asked her: how do we deal with all this rejection? Fortunately, there are many A-list stars who can tell you stories of how they experie …

How to Read & Understand Stage Directions

If you’ve ever been in a play or musical you will be familiar with the term ‘stage directions’. For those who don’t know, stage directions are,  “an instruction in the text of a play, especially one indicating the movement, position, or tone of an actor.” Stage directions can also be instructions for the director, such as the way the stage should be lit or what kind of sound effect could be used.  Stage directions can also tell an actor how to deliver a line— pace of speech, emot …
