As a voice teacher & performance coach, I work holistically to help you explore the accurate communication of emotions that comprise a sincere ability to relate a story to an audience. We explore character development along with delving into how the voice integrates physical responses to external stimuli. Working with acting skills can help us understand our relationship to others and our world in a different light. It's an excellent way to continue professional development in any field, as the ability to role-play helps you work with communication skills in a risk-free environment.
Improv acting helps you:
* Think on your feet
* Gain perspective on human behavior
* Deepen character development [current show or production]
* Roll with the changes in plot as dialogue changes
* Practice clear communication (perspicuity)
* Work with gestural communication & physical attributes

EXPERIENCE:
* 20 years teaching experience
* 12 years living & working in Los Angeles
* A lifetime of performing experience
* 12 years personal private vocal studies master teachers of bel canto & contemporary singing techniques.
LIFE SKILLS: No matter the subject, my focus is also teach skills that can be extrapolated into any area of your life. Life Skills focuses on eradicating negative self-talk and expanding communication skills that help develop confidence, enhancing daily life.
Between performing and my own artistic studies, I have been taking the occasional private voice student since 1997, mostly via referrals from friends and other students. While living in California, one of my voice teachers requested me as her regular substitute at Culver City and Santa Monica Music Schools from 2008-2012, which I felt deeply honored. She said she trusted me with their voices, which encouraged me into full-time voice teaching practice. In June 2012, I returned to Minneapolis and began teaching in my home studio through music services like Take Lessons. Past projects include producing a vocal showcase at The Ritz Theater, musical direction & choreography for a school's 2016 production of the Wizard of Oz; assisting students to prepare for local & national auditions like La Banda, The Voice & American Idol; prepping singers for studio recordings and congratulating a new student who's stepped out of the chorus to land her first lead role!
I am forever grateful to all of my teachers, past and present, for their valuable gifts of knowledge, skill, grace and compassion.
ENJOY LIFE MORE! Singing & dancing improves our quality of life.

I found Zach through 'take lessons' after my daughter had a few years with an intense classical pianist. I want my daughter to have fun and appreciate music and not feel the intense pressure she was feeling with our previous instructor. Zach was the perfect choice. My daughter loves her lessons. Zach does take time off for his professional endevors. Good for him. He has always let us know and connected with us when he returns.

Voice
I am an empathetic teacher, sensitive to the student's individual process of learning. My singing lessons usually start with breathing and relaxation exercises. Vocal technique exercises come next. When the student is fully warmed up, we will begin to work on songs. It is important that students be a part of the process of picking material since the more personally they respond to the material the more apt they are to become engaged in their lessons. After three to six months beginning students will have gained an understanding of the fundamentals of breathing, relaxation, and basic performance skills. With more advanced students the focus will be on range extension and the on-going development of vocal style through song interpretation and performance related exercises.
Acting
As an acting teacher and coach, I tailor my classes to the needs of each student. I utilize improvisatory and sensory techniques to help unleash spontaneity. I also encourage the students to use their personal experiences as a way to access a full range of emotions. I enjoy working with the student on script analysis, so as to discover the underlying motivations of the character the student is working on.
Creative and Lyric Writing
I use prompts as a way to get the student writing. Often, I will ask the student to write for stretches of time without editing themselves. It is important to unleash imagination before beginning the process of editing. Many times it is the unexpected that is the most compelling.
*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a piano, cd/mp3 player and an large library of songbooks to work from. The student should bring sheet music of songs they want to work on and a recording device.

I specialize in teaching how to sing rock, pop, musical theater, jazz, and blues without hurting the voice as well as method acting instruction.

Expect to be thrown out into the Improv world. I love Improv, it is one the main things I love about acting. You are able to just come up and pretend to be all kinds of people. I have been teaching acting for over 5 years now. I started off as an actress and decided I wanted to help others fulfill their dreams. I started a production company where I direct and write stage play. I mainly work with individuals with little to no training and develop them into great performers. My students love my style of teaching because I don't push in a hard way and treat them with respect. My goal is to help you or your child fulfill their dreams of acting. I believe that "You Are Good Enough".

When I began directing I found that my favorite part was taking the time to coach the actors and finding what techniques worked best for them to get them to where they needed to be in their performances. Often my rehearsals are a series of exercises and coaching techniques to help the actors grow into their performances, which lead me to want to teach acting more regularly.
About Alyssa
My name is Alyssa and I have been been acting for nearly 15 years. I began by doing school and community shows when I was in elementary school and went on to study acting and directing at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I also have experience working at a talent agency which gave me a lot of insight for what agency's are looking for in talent and what casting directors are looking for in submissions. About Camila
I grew up in Arizona, performing in every theater production I could find. In my teen years, modeling with Ford Agency connected me to my first TV gig. That little production got me connected with my first acting agent in Los Angeles and I moved out to pursue my dreams at age 17.
As soon as I turned 18, I booked the LEAD in a Nickelodeon pilot. The show was not picked up, and thank goodness, because I was not ready for stardom!
Through the years, I have worked on single and multi cam comedy, drama, procedurals, indie film, and many more. Now if that sentence means nothing to you... don't worry! I can teach you all about it in
I have trained in Meisner Technique, Method acting, Cold Reading, Scene Study, Audition Technique, Improv, Sitcom technique, Sense memory, and the list goes on. I have had television roles on the CW, CBS, ABC, Freeform, TNT, HBO, and FOX! And with all of that said, the most valuable work I have ever done, is the work I did on myself.
The industry in Los Angeles has tested every one of my insecurities, abilities, and beliefs. And with every test, I have come out the other side with newfound strength, determination, and inspiration! Coaching actors is a skill I enjoy, and seeing my students succeed with JOY, CONFIDENCE, and PASSION brings immeasurable value to my own career. I believe in creating in community and have hosted an acting group for years now. One of which is filled with actors you can see on your TV and movie screens today! Teamwork makes the dream work and I am on your team, from the very moment we meet.
At the end of the day, humans just want to create beautiful art that impacts the world and I want to help you do just that. I want to guide you into living an even more abundant life, full of purpose and joy.
