Amy W. Saint Paul, MN

I am able to help students better play their concert band music, jazz band music or solo and ensemble music. I can also help beginners who are brand new to their instrument.

About Amy

As I child I had an early interest in music, dancing and creative things. I took piano lessons and excelled at my chosen instrument, the flute, in band at school. I continued with my music training at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Education in 1992. I worked for 11 years in my profession in various settings before I took a break to start my family. My experience includes teaching students in classroom general music, choir, band, piano lessons, and school plays/musicals. I spent six years at a private school (grades K-8), three years at a charter elementary school and 2 years at a public elementary school. Also, since graduating in 1992 I have spent a total of 16 years teaching private lessons both at Hovland ...

We have only taken 3 or 4 lessons so far with Amy but from what I can tell she is great! Amy is very patient in our lessons which really shows that she is great with beginners. Amy is also always right on time which is always great to have. Amy is a friendly and kind person and that really helps make the lessons fun for my daughter.

Thank you Amy! It is now 2 years since I started piano lessons with you as an adult beginner. I enjoy my lessons and even like to practice! You are a great teacher.

Anyone out there who thinks they are too old to start music lessons - I started at 68 and think playing the piano has actually helped keep my arthritic hands limber.

Go for it!

Vocal lessons with Tom

Tom is a great teacher. He is very encouraging and gives great advice on how to improve. Without his encouragement I do not think I would have tried out for the community choir. I made it through the audition and am back singing with a great group of people.

Natalie W. Saint Paul, MN

Hello! I have been playing saxophone for over 15 years and I believe that music is a great way to express yourself. I am an environmental educator by day, saxophone player by night. As a teacher, I make sure that all of my students have fun playing music and develop a love for the saxophone, coupled with technical and listening skills. I'm excited to share my expertise with new students in the Twin Cities metro!

About Natalie

I attended New World School of the Arts for saxophone performance where I had the opportunity to play alongside Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Ron Carter, Duffy Jackson, James Moody, J.J.Johnson, and many more talented musicians. In 2005, our jazz band got first place at the Essentially Ellington competition in NYC. I attended St.Olaf College on a music scholarship where I played in the St. Olaf Band, the St.Olaf Jazz Band (Downbeat Magazine's Top Undergraduate Jazz Ensembles in 2011), and with several campus bands (funk, folk, you name it!) . I continue to play saxophone today with bands in the Twin Cities area and participate in blues jams in Minneapolis.
