Edgar V.

Miami, FL

About Edgar

Hi there! My name is Edgar V., I'm from Bogota, Colombia but I now reside in Miami, FL. I have an Associates Degree in Music Business, Creative Performance from Miami Dade College. I'm focused, patient, enthusiastic and very active! "Schedule a lesson with me now and start either speaking in Spanish or playing drums from day 1!."

**For Drum students***

My passion is playing drums and percussion. I've been playing drums for 14 years now. First I studied drums in Colombia with Shakira's former drummer Italo Lamboglia for 4 years and then when I moved here in US, I've kept refining my craf
t taking drum lessons at Miami Dade College, learning new techniques and so on.

I'm currently an independent drummer. I play with many artists and bands as a freelancer, So I get to perform very often live in different venues all over South Florida. I also freelance at different T.V. Networks as a background drummer and percussionist for artists promoting their songs on TV shows. I have won drum contests and competitions on stores and online as well. I have recorded various records and singles with major producers and performed in different countries as a hired drummer.

I've been sharing my knowledge in drums with others since I first started playing drums! I’m a believer that the more you share, the more you learn, and overtime I've realized that the process never stops. At first I was a drum instructor at a local church in Colombia. I had 10 – 20 students in a single classroom -- It was a great experience! Then when I came to the U.S. I've been mainly instructing privately, so I have plenty of experience.

Schedule a lesson with me now and start learning the art of playing drums. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities. After all, you might be the next music prodigy, but perhaps you don’t know it yet! See you soon!

Erik A.

Miami Beach, FL

About Erik

I want to teach you how to express yourself through music. I've been inspired by music since I was young and have been involved in one way or another since I started piano lessons at age 3. I've been playing guitar for over fifteen years and written and recorded music for about eight. Whether you want to go into music seriously as I have, or just use music as a hobby and way to express yourself, I want to help you accomplish your goal.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each person is different and learns in a slightly different way. Having said that, there are certain essentials which must not be
ignored. If you've never taken lessons before, we'll start with the fundamentals, how to hold the guitar properly, make chords, build up finger strength, properly tune the guitar, know all the strings, and most importantly play songs. You will learn how to read basic music, but I can teach you how to play by ear too. Before we have completed our series you or your children will have basic knowledge of all these things and a desire to explore at least some of these aspects further.

For me, the most interesting music reveals the unique perspective and feelings of the person who makes it. Having conquered the essentials I will encourage you to be creative with your developing talents. I can teach you about song structure and I can teach you how to jam with your friends. If you are interested in writing and composing, I can help you with that too. We can take a look at your favorite artists and try to discover how they accomplished and perfected their sound. If you want to learn how to record I have a computer equipped with Pro Tools and would be glad to show you how to use it.

You'll spend time listening to me of course, but I hope to spend much of my time listening to you as well. If reading music doesn't inspire you we can focus more on learning by ear. It's up to you. You'll need your own instrument obviously, though you can leave it at home if you don't want to carry it back and forth. I have guitars here. I request that you purchase a book with text and exercises so that you can practice and study what you learn in the class. Even if you do not want to read music, you will need to know the neck and conquer scale formations and chords. We can choose the text based on your needs.

Great Experience

You will learn so much with Erik! He has a solid grasp on a lot of music theory and knows how to break that down and explain it. The sessions are fun! I always look forward to the lesson, and they seem so short because the time is flying by. I definitely recommend Erik as a teacher.

Awesome!

Great teacher. I am learning at a very quick pace and Erik never stumbles when I ask him questions; and I sure do ask a lot of them and most of them being technical.

Jamie was my voice teacher for two summers and I really grew through all the lessons I had with her. I also really enjoyed the time I spent working with her and felt very comfortable being around her. Jamie worked very hard to make me a better singer and performer. She stretched by range and improved many other aspects of my voice and performing. She also was able to greatly expand my repertoire. When beginning my lessons with Jamie I did not have much experience with singing songs that were not musical theatre. During my lessons with Jamie I continued to sing musical theatre pieces, as well as songs from many other genres. Through my lessons I was able to become a much better all around performer. I strongly recommend Jamie to anyone looking for a voice teacher!
