I've always had this mentality that everyone can sing and it is my goal as your potential teacher to get you to learn how to enjoy it! I like to teach from a classical standpoint and want to make sure you know what the theory is all about, how to breathe properly and how to align your body.

I'm currently a master's student in Voice at Mannes and have had two years of private teaching experience and another two as a teaching assistant for a collegiate voice class and choir. On the performance side, I've been a church musician for over 20 years, I've made solo debuts with the Oakland Civic Orchestra and Mill Valley Philharmonic, have performed and covered numerous operas and even won an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera.

No matter what singing level you're at currently, by the end of our lessons and your continued practice I hope you'll learn the techniques to truly sing out whether it be for pop, jazz, broadway, or opera. Let's work together!

About Danika

I'm Danika, a Filipino-American aspiring opera singer! I'm currently a master's student in Voice at Mannes School of Music and have had two years of private teaching experience and another two as a teaching assistant for a collegiate voice class and choir. I wish there were more stars to give to Natasha! She is sweet, kind and a brilliant instructor! She has taken her years of performing and training to compile a unique and highly effective way to teach voice. She is extremely dedicated to your success! I had a fear of singing and she has helped me over come that fear and I am looking forward to the 1st of many musical auditions. I look forward to many more lessons with her!!! She is the best!

This was our daughter’s first class with Natasha. She had had only a few months of formal lessons before meeting with Natasha. I was impressed with how Natasha started by grounding her in the basics of good stance and breathing, not rushing into a lesson but making sure she understood the principles. Natasha has a friendly, engaging personality that immediately puts you at ease. Looking forward to seeing where this path takes my kiddo!
Melissa
My daughter has been taking lessons for a few months now and the results have been amazing. Natasha has brought her out of her shell and helped her become confident in her singing abilities. She teaches such interesting details about vocal methods. She is amazing.

I want my students to develop a reliable technique so that they can accomplish anything that they would want to perform. I think technique is the most reliable base you can have for a lasting and enjoyable vocal career. I am interested in what you want to learn as well as your vocal aspirations. I cannot wait to work with you!

For students that are younger (elementary-middle school) I recommend 30-45 minutes.

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
