I have been teaching piano to students of all ages for the past 26 years. I studied piano at St. Bonaventure University under Laura Peterson. I have accompanied many in talent shows, and competitions. I presently play the piano at our church.
I have taught students that have gone on to higher learning in piano. Some of my students have competed in nationwide festivals and placed well. They have entered local and statewide contests. They placed well in their categories.
I believe that each student should have goals for their talent. I want to work with the student's goal to achieve their very best. I believe each student is a unique individual who will become a performer according to the practice that they put into it
I am looking for students who want to have fun while learning to play the piano.

*** Lesson Details ***
Ea
ch beginning student will receive a curriculum that fits them best. I use a variety of curriculum. If the student already has begun in a curriculum we can continue to use that one if it fits their goals appropriately.
Each student will learn how to play the piano and the theory behind the music. We will do games to reinforce the lesson. We also learn scales and arpeggios and chords and how they fit together.
I expect at least 5 days of practice to progress consistently at their ability level. They will keep track of practice in an online journal.
Usually if the student follows the recipe of consistent practice they should finish each year's curriculum as scheduled. I include motivational activities we do as a group once a unit is finished. Some students finish before one year is up and are able to start the next level which is very exciting for them.
I encourage them to play for variety shows, fairs, church and other public places to help them with performance .
Its great to see their faces shine and the confidence they show once the student connects with the piano and learns their first song.
The other exciting thing I love to see is when a student comes to a difficult challenge and we break it down so they can actually learn the difficulty and experience success!!!
Wow what a motivation!!!
The student then learns that they can get over hurdles not only in piano but in life too.

We learn to read the notes, relate sound and express ourselves through the beauty playing the piano.

I have taught Autistic children ages 8-15 who have a high recommendation. I also have taught a Down Syndrome girl.

As you learn the notes, it becomes increasingly critical to understand the theory behind them. My instrumental lessons will often include basic theory fundamentals such as scales, major and minor triads, etc., but if you are interested in specific theory tutoring, I can help out with that as well. I strongly feel each student needs lesson goals tailored to what he or she wants to take away from music. Getting ready for a college performance degree, making it to state solo contest, surviving band music, or simply discovering the huge scope of music available to us these days are each worthy goals, but require different preparation. I was inspired to start lessons from watching the last season of American Idol. I started with a 12 pack of online lessons. I was so nervous to sing out load (even in the privacy of my home) but Melody was always positive and encouraging. Even though I didn't practice as much as I should, to my surprise I've gotten better at hitting notes. It's helped even at work (female engineer) for me to easily speak louder and lower when needed. I've been taking lessongs for over a year now and it's still challenging but I always feel awesome afterwards (just like a great workout!) When I listen to singers now I have a whole level of of appreciation. It's like Melody introduced a new language. She's an awesome singer herself and I aspire to sing like her!

Ms. L. has also soloed with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and was invited to play at the City of Sydney Cultural Council Outstanding Performer's Concert in April 2008. She has placed in several Australian competitions and is a two-time winner of Sydney "Theme and Variations" Outstanding Pianist Award and a three-time finalist for the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer's Award. In 2006, Ms. L. was one of three students honored by the Cultural Council at the Sydney McDonalds Arts Challenge. She made an appearance at the Sydney Opera House as a result of being awarded third place in the 2007 national Austr
alian Higher School Certificate Music Extension course. In 2008 Ms. L. won the Werner Baer Memorial Award and the audience prize in the Cochem International Piano Summer Festival in Germany. Most recently, Leanna participated at the Banff International Piano Master-Classes in Canada last year.

About Cameron
Cameron began playing guitar at the age of 14, as a kid who found great Inspiration in classic rock music, idolizing such groups as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, and many more. This was only the beginning of a life long intimate relationship with music and guitar playing. Since his first introduction to the guitar he quickly grew, establishing a love for blues and all of its incarnations, from Chicago Blues to the varying acoustic and electric styles found in New Orleans, Mississippi, and South Carolina among other places.
Through high school Cameron played in rock and blues bands writing original music and getting his first real experiences as a composer and a bandleader. High School was also the place where Cameron discovered his interest in Jazz music as he began playing guitar in the school's Jazz band. Following hi
gh school Cameron began playing more jazz music as he attended Bellevue College studying theory and composition with Dr. Brian Cobb and guitar performance with Mark Hillard Wilson. After this he soon met renowned Jazz Guitarist Chris Spencer, with whom he studied with for years to follow.
Cameron eventually found himself at Cornish College of the Arts where he received a Bachelors degree in Music Composition. While at Cornish he had the opportunity to play guitar and compose for Jazz Orchestras, Latin Jazz ensembles, and Modern Jazz groups while playing under the direction of internationally know musicians such as Wayne Horvitz, Tom Varner, Jovino Santos Neto and Chuck Deardorf.
In the realm of composition Cameron studied privately with composers Jarrad Powell and Tom Baker, with a deep focus in contemporary classical music. He is now the composer for the quickly rising interdisciplinary arts group the Pendleton House.
Currently Cameron spends his time working as a guitar player in Seattle while also writing chamber music for various ensembles and art groups. He performs on a regular basis with a variety of groups in the Seattle area including the Seattle based jazz trio Honeysuckle Rye, folk and bluegrass group Modern Bygones, as well as the orchestral pop band Sebastian and the Deep Blue.

*** Lesson Details ***
In the world of music education it is important to recognize that everyone learns differently and there is no universally prescribed teaching method that works for all students. Everyone must find how he or she learns best. As a teacher I acknowledge this and incorporate it into my method of instruction. Anyone can find success as a proficient instrumentalist if they are able to learn on there own terms and find what they are doing enjoyable.
Lessons will start with an assessment of what the student wants to learn and what their goals are. From there, we will determine the proper approach to meet those goals while keeping things fun and interesting. Once a particular skill level and interest are established I will develop an individualized lesson plan for the student to fit their wants and needs. The goal with beginning students is to get them up and running right away with chords and melodies, learning the fundamentals while being able to play their favorite songs. For all students I like to extensively focus on knowledge of the fret board and the many possible approaches to mastering it, as well as looking at creative practice methods and daily routines. A musician’s method of practicing can greatly determine their rate of improvement. For more intermediate and advanced students the general focus will shift to topics such as ear training, rhythm, music theory and music notation (if desired) and, their application to the guitar.
For students interested in composition, we will focus more on analysis and the application of theory. We will look at songs or pieces that are of interest to the student and take them apart to figure out what makes them great. We will also look at many different kinds of music and their construction. A large part of music composition in the 21st century is the integration of electronic and computer music. For students looking for an introduction into pre-recorded and live electronic music with or without the use of guitar or other instruments, this is strength of mine that I love to teach.
Whether you are a serious musician or just looking for a fun hobby, I can get you where you want to be in your musical life. I’m fun, friendly and music is my passion and profession and I love to share it.

I really enjoyed my first lesson with Cameron. His studio is great and he loves music. I learned some basic musical concepts and got to play a song at my first lesson...an old blues song that has been recorded by many different kinds of artists. I went home with assignments to practice tuning, a few chords, rhythm, and finger picking....just some introductory experiences. Cameron is professional and obviously loves teaching people I look forward to my next lesson!

Music Theory often scares beginning guitarists but it really shouldn't. When teaching theory, I always relate it to what the student is working on and make a point to demonstrate how to build upon it in a inspiring way. Words can't express the how everything starts to connect for the student when they learn how to conceptualize what is happening in the the music that moves them. Once these building blocks are learned, the student starts to identify the same exciting aspects in other music regardless of genre. In addition, I always make a point to connect every topic to the students ear so that they know when they hear it. This way, they can improvise, react with other musicians, and compose music effortlessly.

Caleb has taught me so much in only five lessons! I now can play 4 songs that I love, and I'm getting a great refresher course on music theory. He's super patient and sets very realistic expectations. I really like that he cared to ask me what songs I liked and would like to learn instead of starting with generic songs like 'twinkle twinkle' because it gave me more motivation to practice and learn. Experienced Piano and Music Theory teacher of 45 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of Music Theory and adjacent disciplines like Harmony, Polyphony and Music Forms. I specialize in music pedagogy in all its facets so my students get a complete knowledge of the music basics, elements and forms and how they interact including the knowledge of music perception and cognition. My working experience in different countries and different cultures helps significantly in teaching a student to getting a broader perspective of music, its perception and how to express yourself in music language adequately.

I hold a Master's degree in Piano Pedagogy and Music Theory and History. I established my own teaching method that is based on European classical teaching tradition. I am familiar with most of the American piano teaching methods and use their achievements in my teaching widely.
Personally, I am kind but demanding. My students thrive fast and steady.

Our son began lessons in the spring and he has progressed rapidly under Anna's guidance. He looks forward to his lessons with her. She is very patient, but also challenges him. My husband and I are very pleased with her methods. We strongly recommend her.

My son Jean-David, who was then 10 years old, took lessons with Anna during six months (the duration of our stay in South Bend) and he had much pleasure to follow these lessons and practise the piano every day. Anna made him play various styles of music and she corrected him well. Even if Jean-David knew only a few words in English (we are Swiss and he was used to speak French), he could understand what she explained. Anna had expactations, but she was also encouraging and friendly. I recommend her warmly.

I'm learning a musical instrument for the first time ever, at the young age of 43! I love working with Anna, she has made this a wonderful experience for me. Very informative, learning to read music and positioning my hands correctly. I have been taking lessons with Anna for 3.5 months now, she gives me just enough push out of my comfort zone to expand my piano learning.
