After studying at Cass Tech High School and Wayne State University in MI, I have enjoyed teaching privately, in groups, and at churches, I have performed vocally and instrumentally throughout the US and in 8 foreign countries, and taught at public, charter, and private schools. It is important to tailor each lesson to a student's individual needs and ability to ensure that their experience is as rewarding as possible!

Whether you want to pursue a Musical Career or simply learn how to Play your Favorite Tunes for friends and family, I am here as your Teacher and Guide. I teach at my own home, at the Student's home or through the use of Skype.
I am originally from Ann Arbor. I spent much of this century living in NYC and prior to that I lived in Chicago. Those experiences vastly helped me develop Networking, Performance and Teaching experience. I now live in southwest Detroit near River Rouge.
As a Father of four, I have had the joy in teaching my own children Guitar, Saxophone, Songwriting, Composition and Keyboard. As a parent I have found that Patience and Encouragement is often the best form of support.
It has been proven that learning Music helps develop intuition, self-awareness, and social skills as well as imp
rove in other subjects not directly related to the arts such as Mathematics and Science.
One of the most important aspects of playing Music is being able to Play by Ear. This has been a priceless gift that I was born with and have developed throughout my life. I encourage all musicians, young and old, to do the same. The use of simple Rhythmic Dictation and Ear Training exercises can do wonders for "picking out" Beats and Harmonies no matter what Genre we are interested in.
I attended music courses at The Boston School of Contemporary Music and Thomas Jefferson College (MI). I have a BA at Columbia College Chicago double majoring in Music Composition and English .
My band THIRD BORDER's "Sun of Water; Sea of Light" was selected to be nominated for the Grammy's as The Best Alternative Album of the Year in 2006. On this record, I played Guitar, Saxophone, sang Lead Vocal and wrote all the Songs. If you are a Songwriter, we can polish up your approach.
As a Composer, I have done Sound Design for Film, Dance, Spoken Word and Multi-media Performance - most notably with renowned poet Anne Carson and former members of The Merce Cunningham Dance Co. I also formed and composed two symphonies for my 12-member saxophone orchestra in NYC. Currently, I am rehearsing new work with a Detroit-based multiinstrumental orchestra.
I hope to talk to you soon! Benjamin
*** Lesson Details *** My teaching style is relaxed with a forte on Patience and Encouragement. Though I have specific expectations on what needs to be learned, I gear each lesson towards the student's wishes and their personal direction in Creativity. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, I can guide you wherever you are headed!
For Guitar (acoustic or electric), you will learn the fundamentals of Music Theory, Chord Structure, varied Strumming and Picking Techniques, and Scale Positions to travel from one part of the neck to the other. Any song you wish to learn, I can teach!
For Saxophone, you will learn proper Embouchure technique, Notation, Music Theory, and Scale Patterns for improvisation. Whether you are interested in a Classical, Blues, Funk or Jazz approach, I can help you find your own sound that is both personal and professional.
I teach 2nd year Piano and Drums/Percussion directing you into Intermediate level.
For those leaning toward the experimental genres, I am well-versed in the use of Electronics. Much can be accomplished with my lessons on Sound-Scape Improvisation either as 1 on 1 or Group Workshops.
*** Studio Equipment *** At Home Studio: music stands, metronome, guitar amps, electric and acoustic guitars, guitar tablature, staff music paper, a scanner for weekly homework. I can also record and send MP3s of our lessons to review at home if you wish.
*** Travel Equipment *** Students will need their own instrument, a mutually chosen music book to learn from, a metronome, and hopefully easy access to a keyboard (very helpful!)
*** Specialties *** I am fluent in Rock genres, Blues, Beginning Jazz, Beginning Classical technique, Prepared Guitar, Electronics/Sound Art.

I am a patient, enthusiastic teacher in the following areas: piano, violin, cello, drums, music history, and music theory. I have taught vocal and instrumental music in both Catholic and Public schools, and in after-school programs, for 20 years, and have been giving private lessons for 9 years. I enjoy teaching music to all age students, and especially enjoy watching my students grow in their music ability.
I received my Bachelor of Arts from Marygrove College in Detroit in Language Arts with minors in Music Education and History, and my Masters Degree from Wayne State University in Education with emphasis on English as a Second Language and Sign Language for the Deaf. I have studied Music Education for K-5 at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. I am also a published author of five children's books. You can find them through my
publisher Xlibris. com and they are called Peggy, The Three-Some Book 2, The Writer's Corner Book 3, The Golden Nugget Book 4, The 1940 Diary Book 7. When you go onto their web-site put in my pen name of N.K.Beckley and they should come up. Emily Book 5 will be out sometime in March 2017 and books 6,8.9.10 should be out by Fall of 2017. These are books for students in grades 4th through 8th grades and are also interactive books. I hope you enjoy them. I also tutor for Take Lessons Grades 1 to Grade 8 all subjects except higher level Math.

Each student then starts to learn their major scales with both right and left hand for piano. They also learn the note values, and are able to put them together in a song. I use Michael Aaron curriculum, which takes in all of the above and their technique lessons. I use all the Michael Aaron Book One, Lessons, Theory, Technic, and Performance Books for any student that is age 6 and above and I would ask that parents would buy them from Anderson Music in Dearborn, Michigan as well as any other lesson books listed below before they come to my home for lessons.
Cello: Using String Builder and Strictly Strings, the students learn the bass clef, lines and spaces, scales, and songs. Students will learn how to hold their bow correctly.I have played cello in the Waterford New Horizons Concert Band for over six years. I have also been the only cellist they have as a member of the band.
Violin: Using String Builder and Strictly Strings, students will learn lines and spaces of the treble clef, note values, major scales, and songs. Students will learn how to hold their bow correctly.
Drums: Using Rockin’ Rhythm Raps, and using drum pads instead of drums, students will learn the correct way to hold drum sticks and the rhythms of all the notes in the treble and bass clefs. They will also learn songs to play.
*** Studio Equipment *** Upright piano w/ seating for parents
*** Specialties *** I enjoy teaching beginners in any area, because then you can see how far they have come at the end of the year.
Kathy is a kind, patient and methodical teacher. She develops your piano skills with a structured program of theory and exercises geared toward constant improvement. She has helped me improve my piano technique throughout our time together. I have been able to play increasingly challenging pieces on a regular basis with her. I have recently returned from a week long stay at the Sonatina Piano Camp in Bennington VT and would like to notify all those piano students who may read this review as to the wonderful experience attending this camp can be. The camp takes adult piano students at all piano skill levels from beginner to well accomplished. Students stay in shared rooms (2-4 persons) which includes a piano in every room. Attendance is usually 18- 27 persons. The mansion itself is home to approx. 30 pianos. All meals are provided (and are outstanding) as well as piano classes and 4 lessons with concert pianists or university piano professors. Ample time is provided to practice a performance piece for the end of week performance night. Master classes are given on several evenings for those wishing to perform a work in progress piece for the attendees and the camp owner providing a public lesson.
I have found that the attending student group to be extremely supportive to all other students especially to those experiencing performance anxiety. Repeating attendees (from all over the country) have formed lasting friendships among themselves which have endured for years. Eight week long sessions are given throughout the year. In addition there are summer sessions for school aged youth
and also 4 short week sessions for those wishing to try a sampling of the camp. This past January was my 3rd year attending the camp and I will be returning again next year. My experiences at the camp have been truly unforgettable. More information can be obtained at Sonatina.com

Kathy has worked wonders with my piano lessons. In about a year and half of lessons Kathy has added scales and exercises along with musical selections designed to enhance specific skills, plus has worked with me on select piano works which I find interesting and challenging. My abilities and quality of playing been steadily improving. She is always positive and uplifting yet she still can point out areas of playing quality which require work. She gears lessons and advancement of difficulty to my specific rate of improvement. I couldn't ask for better and and am looking forward to continued progress over time for my improved musicianship.
Congratulations on starting/continuing your language journey in French! I would love to join you! I'm a PhD student at the University of Florida studying Linguistics with a specialization in Second Language Acquisition (aka the best ways to learn languages)!!! Different, from the other individuals listed here, I am not a language teacher, I am a language COACH. It's time to learn a language like it's the 21st century! Let's work together to reach your goals!
What is a language coach?
As a language coach, I enable students to focus on their goals and hold them accountable for accomplishing them. I promote student agency and allow students to make choices about their own learning; this way each lesson fits their individual needs and differences. As your own language and success coach, we will not only work t
ogether to understand the target language vocabulary and grammar, but we will also delve into the metacognitive and self-regulatory skills necessary to study quickly and efficiently, feel comfortable speaking the language, and get ahead in other areas of your life as well!
My mission for each lesson is to provide a language learning experience unique in its approach to incorporate strategy instruction including reducing foreign language anxiety, building agency, and developing self-regulated learning skills. My coaching objective is to help learners reach their second language goals through not only language teaching, but student empowerment as well. I aim to help students realize and build their own agency, resulting in a self-actualized, relaxed, and engaged learning environment. Through this one-of-a-kind coaching method, success is having my students end each tutoring session feeling positive, and eventually ending tutoring sessions all together knowing that they are competent, intelligible, and composed speakers of the target language.
I have been a language instructor and coach since 2009 teaching children English in France through the TAPIF program. I have taught/coached undergraduates French at both the Ohio University (where I earned my BA and MA in French) and the University of Florida (where I am earning my PhD in Linguistics). Further, I have taught English as a Second Language at the University of Florida as well as Santa Fe College.
As a researcher, I have focused my life's work and dissertation on the topic of lowering Foreign Language Anxiety in foreign language learners. Foreign Language Anxiety is often cited as the number 1 correlation to achievement in acquiring the target language. Do you get nervous when you attempt to speak the language that you've learned? Are you scared what others are going to think of you? Do you have perfectionist tendencies? Well, helping you manage Foreign Language Anxiety while learning French would be exactly my skill set!
While I am a seasoned, SLAT (Second Language Acquisition and Teaching) certified instructor and am able to teach at the university level, tutoring is my true passion. I began tutoring in 2008 at Ohio University and I have not stopped since. My youngest tutee was 4 years old and my oldest tutee, who is still working with me, is 72 years old. I can cater to all ages, language levels, individual differences, objectives and goals, attitudes, and motivation levels. Send me a message with any questions that you have, and we can chat and set some goals for your language learning journey.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you in any way possible in the world of French or ESL! Talk to you soon! :)
I am a musician of 20+ years that passionately enjoys teaching and helping students new to music in discovering and developing their skills and aptitude for music. I have performed live on many occasions in contemporary and religious settings. I come from a musical family: My father made an album in 1969 with Bob Seger and wrote nearly half of the music on the album. My brother was a part of a musical group that produced songs that made it to a Hollywood movie. I play multiple musical instruments and can help students learn some of their favorite songs based on their level of skill. I teach out of my home in Sterling Heights, Michigan. My goal is to help students develop an interest in music and an appreciation for the history and development of music. It is also my goal to help students develop their skill in music to a place where they
can become independent in their growth and exploration of music, music writing, and music performance.
You will also notice additional subject areas I am available to teach. These subjects are my passion and joy. Should you have questions, message me and I’ll be happy to answer them.
I am very organized and have a passion for creating and doing things that give people a new perspective on life. I set plans and goals, and do what it takes to get things done in the most efficient ways possible and I am able to adapt even when things don’t quite work out. As a 2nd Degree Black Belt Instructor, my discipline and ability to handle things most people cannot has been amplified beyond the average individual. I am dedicated and reliable to my cause!
I love Science, Culture, and Spanish as well as Video Editing/Production and also just being able to over see projects from start to finish. I currently tutor and teach Spanish to Veterans. I have a Bachelor's of Science (BS) with a Major in Psychology from Wayne State University. I also have 2 minors in Spanish Language and Latino/a and Latin American Studies (Formerly known as

I love Language and culture and it's why I love to share it with others. I would love to be apart of something where I could put my skills to use and be a part of creating something amazing or doing things that can help change people’s lives in a positive way.
"Give the world different perspectives and Seeing it through different eyes!"
Had to write a separate review for this subject. Jamone taught me step-by-step how to use my Cannon Rebel EOS T5. I am a youtube vlogger, and I was looking to create higher quality videos for my viewers. Jamone gave me tons of camera knowledge to better my videos. Thanks!
December 17, 2018
Jamone has been studying Spanish for over 10 years now! He is very dedicated to educating himself on the language and culture, so he teaches those same skills and principles to his students. Plus, he can teach you to count to 1000 in 30 minutes!
I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Architecture. I am a Professional Engineer and soon to be Architect. Working in the construction industry requires me to work with different maths and physics principles on a daily basis. If the Student is serious about learning math and physics, I am dedicated to helping along the way. Some of the math subjects that I have experience tutoring include: Basic Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and some Calculus. Some of the physics subjects that I have experience tutoring include: Fundamental Concepts, Mechanics, Kinematics, Thermodynamics, and Electricity. The goal is to make the concepts as easy as possible to understand. I do not quit until my Student has fully understood the concepts and feel confident in their own abilities to solve problems. All that I ask i
s that my Student comes ready to learn and not to give up.
Hi! This is Serena. I have two bachelor degrees in filmmaking and media studies and history from the University of Minnesota. I have been working in digital filmmaking and live studio recording professionally for over 4 years. As of my second history major, my focused area of study is in Europe and I've done multiple research studies in the Middle East. I scored 5 on AP World History, AP European History, and 4 in AP American History. I will make history such an interesting subject for you to learn!
I have been learning Dutch at the University of Minnesota for 4 years and have a Dutch minor degree. I'm also certified in Dutch proficiency through the Department of German, Scandinavian, and Dutch at the University of Minnesota. I've lived in Amsterdam from 2017-2018. I know how to efficiently and systematically teach the Dutch la
nguage based on my own experience.
Ballet has been my passion for almost 18 years. I started when I was 3 (now I'm 22), and I only love ballet more and more each day. I was trained in the Vaganova style of ballet (Russian) until I was 14 in Minnesota. When I moved to Ohio for high school, the dance school in my area taught in the Balanchine style of American ballet. When I returned to Minnesota for college in 2015, I started dancing at the Minnesota Dance Theater. I recently moved to Florida and run my own home dance studio.
Serena was a wonderful instructor/tutor to my 12yr old son. He was able to absorb the material easily and retain the lessons learned in order to improve his performance at school. I would definitely recommend Serena if you are serious about learning a specific subject you or your children may be lacking in.

"Excellent teacher who developed a personally focused lesson plan that fit my needs. The constant and prompt feedback was what I needed to pass the TOEFL.
I highly recommend Leona."
"Steve is a Godsend. My son has had multiple tutors, but he never actually liked nor thought any of them were any good. He is a very hard sell. After the f
irst lesson my son informed me that Steve is good. "He taught me something useful" Week after week my son writes an essay. He is actually working at it. Steve is very soft spoken, encourages in a very natural way which works extremely well for my son. My mission this summer was to get my son writing every week, now its happening and I hear zero complaints. Waazaam!"
"Over the last six months, Daniel has been tutoring me on and off for my intro to physics course. I do not have a strong background in science or math, but
Daniel was always able to explain everything clearly and in detail. He knows how to answer your questions and really works hard to make sure you understand the material. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for help."
"Daniel, you are great. thanks for helping my son. making it easier for him to understand."
"Excellent teacher he is"
"Ryan is great as always"
"Sarah is an incredible teacher! She is extremely patient, smart, and is able to simplify the problems so they become more manageable. I worked with her fo
r a few months in preparation for the GRE. She is very knowledgeable and hardworking. She went above and beyond and fully supported me to be successful in my studies and most importantly motivated me and did not allow me to give up on myself. I felt lucky to have found a tutor who was able to explain the problems and help me develop key strategies to excel in my studies. I highly recommend Sarah."
When you're trying to teach children about learning fractions, making it fun for them is important. Whether you're a responsible parent helping your child with homework problems, or a math tutor looking to spice up some lesson plans, incorporating some fun and creativity when learning fractions can help bring the level of understanding up quickly.
When fun is called for, you can't argue with educational games! The two are nearly synonymous! If you can line up a few games t …
