John is a very effective teacher. I took bass lessons and I have improved so much. John is an amazing teacher and I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn the bass guitar or upright bass.

Jonathan taught me when I was around middle school age and has left a lasting impression on how I approach the bass and music 10-ish years later. Under his tutelage I learned music theory, techniques, and all sorts of different genres and styles.

His lessons were always very professional. I always felt challenged, but not overwhelmed, by the material being taught. He also made it easy to be interested in the lessons; he would always ask if there's any song or genre that I wanted to learn and that sort of thing.

Overall, definitely a 5/5 top shelf educator and musician.

Experience teacher of 13 years working from other music schools in Michigan as well as New Mexico. Teach ALL styles of music, while also teaching how to read and count notations. Lessons being taught by world touring musician still on rise. Learn your favorite songs while also seeing (reading) what you are playing. Teach full set as well as snare, and even marching band percussion like quads/quints. I believe music theory is very important to becoming a better musician and that it definitely separates the amazing from the mediocre.

About Demarcus

I am a world touring musician with 30 years of drums/percussion experience. I have performed on some of the biggest stages in the this country as well as others. I have experience working with all ages, gender, and levels of students. For many years I have taught students varying from the ages

This subject would be geared for intermediate to advanced students. The areas explored would be focused on detailed piano pedagogy, and repetoire from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Twentieth century eras. My experience traces a musical lineage back to the 19th century pianist and composer, Franz Liszt. Students must have a piano background of a minimum of 10 years of study.

About Cheryl

I have worked for over 30 years as a professional accompanist and musician in the greater metropolitan Detroit area. I have earned several degrees, which include a Bachelor of Music Performance in Organ and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Music both from Wayne State University. My studies

With my instruction, we'll aim to explore and hopefully master true harmonic and rhythmic support within an ensemble. I will focus deeply on pocket, vibe, accuracy, musicality, non cerebral expression, and most importantly, the art of being an in demand solid-as-a-rock bass player. We will work music theory, warm ups, learn and analyze essential bass lines, bass line composition, learn songs we love and more.

About Joel

My biggest asset as a teacher is that i'm also (and probably more importantly) an in demand, working bass player in Los Angeles. I play gigs of all sizes locally and throughout the world and also participate in major network recording sessions for both film and television. Most recently, I played b

In the few months I've been studying with Joel, my bass playing has totally transformed. I had experience as a guitarist, but wanted to delve into the idiosyncrasies of bass playing so I could craft better parts for recording projects. Joel has helped me refine my technique, broaden my understanding of harmony in popular music, and develop a deep, authentic pocket. Now I'm playing bass like a bassist; not a guitarist (there's a big difference)!

I’m a professional drummer who has been taking bass lessons with Joel for the last year. I’m so grateful to be taking lessons with a professional bassist who is actually working in the industry! He’s a great guy and has a wealth of inside information on what it takes to be a touring and recording bassist. I’d recommend Joel to students of all ages levels. Thank you, Joel!
Jonathan
Joel is such an amazing teacher! He knows so much about the bass and has excellent taste in music. I had so much fun learning more about how to groove better and improve my tone. I look forward to more lessons with him in the future!

"I found Eric Jayk through the group online classes and wow, what a great Teacher. I’ve taken several of the classes with many different Teachers but after taking one class with Eric J I keep coming back to his Classroom. He is practically a musical genius. You can tell he is very talented yet he has a unique way of making you feel at ease which is the key to learning to singing well. He really knows how to get you to where you want to go in the quickest time. I have struggled with vocal nodules many years ago and after taking classes with him I now know why. I am learning how to place my voice correctly in the mask and also how to properly use my breath so as to control everything. He is the best Teacher I’ve come across thus far for singing. He sends recap videos afterwards for you to use in practice as well. Love his classes and how kind, patient and professional he is. He’s not limited to one type of music. He teaches you so that you can sing ANYTHING. Thanks alot."

Everything You Need to Know About Open Handed Drumming

It’s known by a few names: “Open handed drumming,” playing with a “left hand lead,” playing “uncrossed,” or simply “open.” Whatever you decide to call it, open handed drumming is a way of setting up and playing your drum set so that one hand doesn’t cross over the other while playing the time-keeping cymbals (like the hi-hats, or ride). It can equate to playing time with your non-dominant hand, and it also can mean playing the hi-hats or ride cymbals in unusual lo …
