This is great for all students of guitar and music in general. It helps the student understand the mechanics of the instrument; and how music in general works and blends those sounds we love.
I highly recommend at least a basic idea of music theory for all students.

What a great teacher! He has several decades of experience in playing and teaching and it shows. He plays effortlessly and is very patient. He would be the ideal teacher for someone who is either new or already experienced with the guitar. Also, I feel like he can play most any song (and coming from a 70s/80s rock/metal fan, it's great). If you're on the fence about learning or continuing with lessons, give him a shot. You won't be disappointed!

He is professional and patient yet he meets you where you are. I had played piano many years ago and he quickly assessed where I am today and asked what I wanted to accomplish at this point. He showed me things that I was never taught all those years ago. He is kind and so easy to work with. Can't say enough about him. Wasn't sure if I could play again after so many years. I have had hand surgery and can't wait to continue my lessons. He showed me that I can. Great for this old lady, I mean elderly person.

I needed last minute coaching for an upcoming audition and was feeling unprepared and frazzled. Chelsea easily knew what I needed. She made recommendations, was wonderfully engaging, and her insight and ear highlighted some important tweaks that I would have overlooked in my haste to prepare. After just one session I felt clearer, calmer, and considerably more confident. Bonus: Chelsea is incredibly kind, fun to work with and makes you feel you already know one another. "I was a music student at Azusa Pacific University and Adam Tune helped me with Music Theory for two semesters. He is very knowledgeable of the subject, and has a clear, friendly, and logical teaching approach that makes the experience fun. He can explain topics and concepts in a way that is easy to understand.
He is also very knowledgeable in music composition, arranging, and in the use of Logic Pro software that he could use while teaching theory."

"I play in a rock band that wanted to add some Sinatra type jazz songs to our repertoire. I was tasked to play bass with which I had very little experience. I decided to take some lessons with Gary to learn a little jazz theory and technique. He was a wonderful teacher. He focused in on exactly what I needed quickly and pointed me toward resources that I could use to improve. Despite my limited abilities, Gary was always patient and displayed good humor. When I needed him to write a bass line for me quickly so that I could take it on vacation, he made the time to make sure that I had what I needed. I enjoyed our lessons and recommend him highly. Gary is a teacher who truly cares about his students."

It's much easier to memorize a piece once you understand the theory behind it: the progression of the chords, and their functions. I wish my former teachers had known theory instead of making me memorize all those notes with no explanation."
