As a professional musician, songwriter and composer, I often use the piano/keyboard for composition, arrangement and sound design. Although my primary instruments are alto saxophone and guitar, having piano skills have been an asset in visualizing the musical spectrum.

I've had two years formal training on Piano, and taught 2nd Year Piano in NYC public and private schools.

Patty is a great teacher who takes pride in her work. She spent plenty of time making sure I understood the lessons, and made sure I was doing the homework and practicing between lessons.

Ever wanted to walk up to one of those free pianos on New York City summer streets, but felt too insecure or inexperienced to try? I have had nearly two decades of personal piano experience. While I am primarily a classical singer, I believe that learning piano and the structures of harmony is at the core of all musicianship. I have taught countless piano students at almost every level, and I love helping them become more confident musicians. Whether you are interested in playing piano for fun or learning piano as the beginnings to a career in music, I am confident that I can teach you a combination of piano and theory technique that will help you succeed.

Rachel is a great vocal instructor and gave me the confidence to learn and discover my own voice. As a beginner with no experience in vocal training, I was able to learn the basics of posture, setup and breath and of course singing. I enjoyed lessons with Rachel and would highly recommend working with her.

Rachel is absolutely awesome. Makes me feel so comfortable which helps me to be 100% myself including my funny mistakes. I feel that I am learning and understanding music and singing a lot.

He has a great ear and picks up on little subtleties in your voice that you can improve, and this causes you to hold yourself accountable to the same standards as a result. "Hiromi is wonderful. This was my 13 year old son's first lesson on piano, and Hiromi tailor made the lesson to fit his level of experience. He was able to improv and experiment with the keyboard, and Hiromi guided him through perfectly, while then following up with structure. Thanks to Hiromi and a wonderful first lesson. :)"

"I am an adult in my late 40’s and learning piano for the first time, as well as music theory. I chose David as my instructor due to his Julliard training and experience in NYC. I could tell right away (from his initial call) that he is a genuinely thoughtful person, and that quality in David carried throughout my entire lesson and time with him. David was well prepared prior to my lesson as to help what I’m trying to accomplish. He is an excellent listener and is very engaging. David is a true professional. I would highly recommend taking piano lessons with him. I am looking forward to doing my homework and to my next lesson."

"James is an amazing teacher! My son has taken piano lessons from him for several years. James not only taught lessons and theory, he helped my son prepare “Prelude in C Major” by Bach for a school talent show. They also worked on Erik Satie’s “Gymnopedie”. One year, James helped him prepare a song to sing at a talent show and even came to the show and accompanied him on piano. My son has written songs that James has helped him refine. When my son showed up with a ukulele, James was able to teach him how to play it as well. We love James!"

"My son at aged 8 begged for piano lessons. I looked online and somehow I had enough good karma to find Fawn. I was tempted to go to like a “kids club” type of class because I thought he could do a trial first and then I could judge his commitment. But once he met Fawn, he was all in. I am sure people who know more about music than I would agree that he has technically progressed over the past several months. I mean he started from nothing and is playing and learning from Fawn and eager to pick things up on his own. But, I find you can get technical anywhere. What you can’t get anywhere is Fawn. (My son actually gets mad when I refer to Fawn as “his teacher” because he says she is so cool so I should call her Fawn! :) ) If I were to give an official review I would say my son has played lesson book songs, solo pieces, memorizing music, music theory, note spelling, reading about the great composers, taken several written tests to find out what he has retained and has advanced considerably in a short amount of time, etc. Fawn is classically trained and trained in jazz and tends to be fun around my son, yet tough about the rules. She approaches every lesson from the perspective of the student. My son always reminds me to write from the heart like I make him do. So I asked him, when I wanted to write a review, what should I say? He said, “Say Fawn loves music and she loves me.” So, long story long, very highly recommend."
