Ms. S. has a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Eastern Michigan University and is certified Level III in the Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method. She has also trained in Estill Voice through the University of Michigan, with additional training in the Feldenkrais Method of movement. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She will tailor your vocal development to your individual performance goals.
Singing is a complex coordination of breathing, phonation, resonation and articulation, overlaid with musical and performance layers. This process needs to be guided by an instructor who is knowledgeable in the vocal processes and anatomy, as well vocal styles and performance. Vocal development progresses as the body strengthens and growing musical skills demand more from the vocal instrument. We'll work together to create a voice which works freely to express the musical and emotional demands of the literature, allowing the joy of ...

My daughter was trained in opera, and was looking for a teacher who will help her do the transition to musical theater. Well, she has found such teacher.
Ms. Barbara not only has the educational background to help her, but also has a wealth of knowledge thru her personal experience as a musical theatre performer.
Personally, I do not think that we could have found her without the help of take lessons.com because we live in another city. Thank you,

I am a patient, enthusiastic teacher in the following areas: piano, violin, cello, drums, music history, and music theory. I have taught vocal and instrumental music in both Catholic and Public schools, and in after-school programs, for 20 years, and have been giving private lessons for 9 years. I e
Loquacious, but each moment of verbal conversation has a message that leads to the musical lessons of the day. I really appreciate her knowledge and skill. I am often reminiscent of my violin instructor as a child. Each session leaves me with the zeal to practice hard in eager preparation
for the next.
I have found that the attending student group to be extremely supportive to all other students especially to those experiencing performance anxiety. Repeating attendees (from all over the country) have formed lasting friendships among themselves which have endured for years. Eight week long sessions are given throughout the year. In addition there are summer sessions for school aged youth
and also 4 short week sessions for those wishing to try a sampling of the camp. This past January was my 3rd year attending the camp and I will be returning again next year. My experiences at the camp have been truly unforgettable. More information can be obtained at Sonatina.com

Hello! My name is Phillip M. and I have been playing the Horn for 18 years now. I started back in elementary school and haven't looked back since. After high school, I went to Central Michigan University where I earned my Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance while studying under Dr. Bruce Bonnell.
So grateful Phillip - she is anxious to spend the summer learning from you - we appreciate your approach and as he said ability to "put her at ease" so she can feel comfortable to learn. Awesome first lesson.

I teach from a variety of guitar methods and also help students learn and work out current and classic popular songs that I have written out for them or songs that the student may also suggest. I find that this approach inspires and motivates students while learning the
the fundamentals of the instrument.

I have been playing most of my life. I started playing professionally at 17, playing with a number of professional bands playing all over Michigan. I have been teaching drum students since the age of 19, teaching well over 500 students to date.
Teaching students has been one of my passions with music. I hope to motivate my students to learn to play and love the drums as much as I do.
I work with each student on an individual basis to help them learn and understand drumming technique using books and techniques that will help to develop instinctive skills and ear technique.
I work with snare drum / rudimental technique with all my students and drum set technique, as most students want to learn how to play a drum set. Many of my students are in school band learning snare drum and percussion technique. Basic snare drum technique is important for any student to master and understand to learn to apply to snare drum and drum set technique.

I work with students of all experience levels and ages. With all the years playing with a number of band and worked with over 500 plus students, I have developed strong technical skills. I have also studied with several of the top notch teachers in the Metro Detroit area. Patience and motivating

As a game, chess is traditionally divided into three phases: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame. While all three are important, today I’m going to help you start out strong in the opening. When I first learned how to play chess, I played openings that really did not help me improve and left me with an awkward start to the game more often than not. Eventually, I adopted some of the openings that I will show you in this post and my rating skyrocketed. Opening Principles The first …

The energy that my first time sewing students bring to the very first class is wonderful. They are so excited about the creative possibilities that learning to sew will bring them. Often this excitement is tempered by the fear of using a sewing machine. I start by encouraging them to do some easy sewing projects for children, so they can get comfortable with using a sewing machine. It is also a great way to learn some very basic sewing skills. The following projects are quite simple, quick and u …

Back around 2014, I decided I was going to improve at chess. I watched a few videos online about some openings, played a few dozen blitz games online, and then promptly lost interest within a week. Four years later, I decided to pick it up again and in less than a year, I had gone from 1100 to 1900 Elo rating online. Obviously, I changed how I went about my improvement! So here are the steps that I took the second time around that got me to where I am now, and some ways you can improve your ches …
