Hi! I have a Bachelors in Music Education and have started many students on their instruments. I have 3 children so I decided to give up regular teaching to be with them.
Hoping to give the love of “playing” an instrument to many others!

About Kim

Hello! I started my love of music at a young age with my family playing and singing at family functions. That turned into a wanting to learn how to play the flute and I went up through high school with that instrument. After high school I branched out more into vocal performance. After that I j

Want to develop a beautiful clarinet sound while avoiding awkward squawks and squeaks? As both a saxophone and clarinet player, I can help with many of the technical challenges that may affect a beginning or intermediate player. My curriculum focuses heavily on the Cyril Rose studies for clarinet, as well as the Rubank Advanced Method.

I don’t sit in on the lessons, but this is the first lesson my 13 yr old takes initiative to be ready for. No chasing him to be ready. He even voluntarily re joined the band at school. All good signs to me. We had a couple of hiccups and Andrew was very accommodating to assist with rescheduling. BEST thing busy mom doesn’t have to leave home!

Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I'm an encouraging and motivating guitar teacher with a casual relaxed approach. Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.

About Scott

The key to learning guitar......is finding the right instructor! I am an encouraging, effective guitar instructor and an experienced performing musician, offering in-person beginner through intermediate guitar instruction in my home and on line. It is very rewarding to me to help others alon

I started with Scott as a newbie and he has definitely helped me grow as a guitarist. He takes time and makes things easier to learn. As complicated learning can be, he simplifies it and breaks it down. When I feel like I’m not progressing he always shows me how I am. His modules are easy to follow. His teaching style is compatible with all types of learners whether you are visual, hands on or a listener. It’s not just business with him. He’s always available for questions after or between lessons. He’s knowledgeable in equipment so don’t hesitate to ask for some advice on what to buy. He’s affordable and lesson times are flexible. I highly recommend him for all ages and learning needs.

"Bill is a fantastic teacher. I am currently a professional actor/saxophonist, and I was looking to broaden my horizons by picking up the clarinet. Right from the beginning of our instruction, Bill struck a perfect balance: on the one hand, he pushed me to gain proficiency quickly, knowing that I was eager to begin playing at a professional level; and on the other hand, he focused on methodically and meticulously building a solid foundation of strong technique.

In addition, Bill was enormously helpful when it came to selecting the right equipment. He was accessible, knowledgeable, and even perused some available clarinets to help me find the ideal instrument for my goals and skill level.

I could not recommend Bill highly enough. He will tailor your instruction to your skill level, will be supportive and encouraging, and will give you both the tools and the motivation to reach your highest potential."

"Mr. Rappaport was my clarinet professor and mentor in college and has continued to be an inspiration to me both as a teacher and as one of the finest clarinetist I know, both in the classical realm and in the jazz and swing styles.

Anyone who has ever heard me play has always complimented me on my clarinet tone. I can honestly say that my clarinet tone is the direct result of Mr. Rappaport's methods and his gentle but very stringent guidelines. If you are looking for someone to take you or your child to the highest standard of musicianship, look no further. I highly recommend lessons with Mr. Rappaport. Kim C."

"My name is Andrea Trudeau. I am a homeschooling mother of four. We have been homeschooling for almost twenty years. It has been such a journey, learning and improving as we go. One great addition to our homeschooling is music. My children have all played instruments and sang in choirs. Driving around to all these activities was taxing at times. When we met David Knizewski and learned that he taught clarinet lessons online, I was interested, but skeptical. I liked the idea of not having to drive to one more activity, but I wondered how the quality of the lesson would be. Well, it has been working out wonderfully. It feels as though David is in the room. His warmth and charisma flow through the computer! David is a skilled teacher. He is able to explain and demonstrate even though it is all over the computer. I don’t know how he does it, but he does. Another blessing to doing this type of lessons is that we never had to stop, due to COVID-19. We were able to continue with the lessons, uninterrupted. I highly recommend it!"

"I studied clarinet with William Rappaport when I was a graduate
student in music education at Georgia State University. He may be the
most deeply musical person I have ever known. My sense was that,
though he was a performer of the absolute highest caliber, he was
equally passionate about teaching.
When I initially contacted Bill to schedule lessons, I explained that
I was visually impaired. I wanted to share this information with him
upfront in the event that he had questions or concerns about teaching
me. I remember him saying clearly, “I am aware of the possibilities.”
That was all I needed to hear to feel comfortable entering his studio.
Bill encouraged me to take on any challenge in the clarinet
literature that interested me. He used every possible metaphor he
could think of to communicate ideas that were more easily accessed if
you could simply look at the printed page. He was always warm and
friendly, but focused, never wasting one second of our time together.
Following my work with Bill, I attended The University of Michigan
where, though I was a music education doctoral student, I was
instantly welcomed into one of the clarinet studios. Bill’s creative
work with me played an enormous role in making that happen. Now, I am
a community college professor, teaching a variety of classes including
a studio class for instrumental music students. I often find myself
using the same examples Bill employed with me to help my current
students. I am profoundly grateful for his unyielding commitment to my
growth when I was a student of his."
