Alex has inspired my son to love playing music for the rest of his life. I can't think of a more wonderful gift. His technique in teaching allowed my son to enjoy learning guitar by playing songs he wanted to play. This made him want to practice just for the fun of it! Alex taught my son from the time he was 9 years old until he was 15. The easy going, positive attitude Alex exudes encouraged my son along his journey and made a strong bond and connection between the two of them. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who would like to learn to play guitar to sign up for lessons with Alex!

"Barbara is an excellent teacher. She is very encouraging and positive. She makes the process fun by focusing on learning songs and allowing the student to pick the songs the student wants to learn. We focus on the basics--playing the right chords, singing on key and choosing a strumming pattern that fits the song. In the several months we have been working together I have found that I have improved dramatically in all three areas. Previously, on my own I had a great deal of trouble making progress. In addition to learning to play the guitar she has helped me tremendously with singing, which I never thought I could do at all. I have really enjoyed the experience."

"I have been playing guitar for 18 years on and off again (key words: on and off again). I must say that I have been in a “stalemate” in terms of advancing my capabilities for the longest time. I have been playing the same main riff Def Leppard songs over and over for years… In addition, I had no grasp of musical theory whatsoever, with the exception of the very basic chord formations.

I recently saw Nathan perform at a local open mic night. I was so taken back by his seamless ability to flow up and down the fret board. He is one guitar virtuoso, to say the least. He made an announcement to the crowd that he gave guitar lessons. I was intrigued and inquired more after he performed.

Currently, I have taken half a dozen guitar lessons under the guidance of Nathan. He has taken my guitar work to a whole other level – somewhere I couldn't even imagine doing. I told him my goal is to “solo” more and he taught me just that.

Nathan started teaching me in the key of C and tied in the boring theory in an easy way to grasp. By the end of my first lesson, I grasped E Phrygian, G Mixolydian, D Dorian, etc. and how they all interweave together.
Nathan is a class A guitar teacher. Without reservation, I recommend Nathan as your guitar teacher. He is respectful and will teach you at “your” pace, which is something my previous teacher 18 years ago never did. Thumbs up, Nathan; looking forward to next week’s lesson. I have been practicing a lot and I owe that to you!!!!!!!"

"I only have high accolades for David. I've learned more from David in the mere 5 lessons then I learned in a years worth of lessons in the past. His method of teaching is perfect with the right amount of homework. He customizes the lesson for the type of music I ultimately want to play with a good balance of theory and practical lessons to get me there. Bravo!!!"

"When my 7-year-old son asked for guitar lesson's, my wife and I were at a loss. As we are not musically inclined at all. We found Jimmy from a friends recommendation and could not be happier. Our son, loves his lesson's with Jimmy, he is learning music theory , how to read music and how to make his guitar sing (for a 7-year-old, at least). Jimmy is very patient and attentive to the needs of such a small learner. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking to play."

Introduction to Proper Guitar Posture

As a beginner, proper guitar posture is one of the most important beginning steps before you learn about chords, picking, and strumming. Although whether you choose to sit or stand has little effect on your tone or technique, proper guitar posture is important for many other reasons. Why Is Proper Posture Important? Best Rock Guitar Songs for Beginners to Learn

When you’re first learning to play guitar, it's important to develop the dexterity and coordination of your left and the right hands. To be able to use both hands is our initial goal and this takes a good amount of practice. If you’re going to spend hours practicing, you might as well use that time to learn something that you like to play. After all, it is much more fun to practice songs in a genre that you like, rather than practicing a piece in a style that you don’t like. So, if you …

Learning the Guitar Fretboard Notes [BONUS: Guitar Notes Chart]

Memorizing the guitar fretboard notes is something every beginning guitarist should work toward. Here, we'll share a quick exercise and guitar notes chart to help you get started. If the guitar had only one string, it would be quite easy to understand the mechanics of the guitar fretboard. It would be laid out just like a piano, where the further to the right you go, the higher the pitch and vice versa. It's not that easy when it comes to understanding a traditional six-string guitar. …
