About Daniel
In addition to teaching music, I have also worked as a special education assistant and wrestling/track coach at Lake Zurich Middle School South and an assistant Kung Fu/Tai Chi instructor at Green Mountain Arts in Logan Square, Chicago, Illinois. Jazz piano, Voice, and Composition are my main areas of expertise. However, I have also been recording, and playing guitar almost my entire life. I fully believe in music education not only for entertainment and personal enjoyment, but for many other means.
Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education. It is my goal to help educate the next generation in traditional music practices as well as incorporate new techniques that are relevant to our
current day and age.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lesson plans vary from person to person. I always make it a point to get to know the student's existing musical knowledge, goals, and background before I create a personalized lesson plan. All important concepts are covered as they are needed so students can understand theoretical concepts based upon actual application and usage. In short, I teach in a way that students can "dig in" right away and play, create, improvise, sing and/or compose freely and naturally. I always encourage students or parents to contact me with their goals, previous musical training, etc., and discuss what they really want out of lessons so they can get the most out of taking me on as an instructor.

Daniel cancelled my son's first lesson with less than a one hour notice. He attended the second lesson, but again cancelled the third lesson with a 30 minute notice. He sent me a text message to notify me and I called him back and left a voicemail. 24 hours later and I still haven't gotten a call back. I want my money back. He has wasted my son's time. Poor professionalism.

Daniel adapted throughout the course of the hour-long lesson to understand what I already knew and find appropriate ways to fill in the gaps of my knowledge. He also started me on the process of learning a new approach when looking at and learning to play new music pieces.

Ms Melody is a great teacher. My five year old son enjoys his lesson and looks forward to coming weekly, not to mention the monthly play date Ms Melody offers to all her students which is really fun and helpful. From knowing nothing about piano to being confident at a recital in just five months is outstanding. Ms Melody is nice, patient, and has true love for her students.

About Gabriel
Gabriel W. ("Musiciano") is a fiery and passionate vocal instructor proficient in the fields of acting, singing and vocal development. A professional singer, actor and teacher with a BFA in Theater Arts.

Gabriel doesn't just possess a formal college education, but more importantly an "informal" education based on his experiences on the stage and in the studio in the real world. Gabriel's approach is direct, simple and to the core, getting straight to the heart of the matter: developing the voice from the inside out by breaking things down to the essentials.

An expert at creating vocal warm-ups, vocal exercises, and vocal cool-downs and deeply passionate about psychology, this is your guy for learning to keep your voice in shape and having access to helpful insights and advice. Learn to cultivate a healthy attitude and how to create
and survive a career in the world of performing arts.

With a kind and compassionate, yet stern and strong tone, Gabriel will work with you to develop the focus and dedication necessary to get your voice beyond what you even knew was possible.

*** Lesson Details ***
Regardless of the genre you sing, developing your voice with Gabriel's help will improve your tone, range, power and overall ability. You can expect to become a much better singer without losing any of your personal and unique traits.

His approach isn't a technical or mysterious one. It's all about re-learning the facts about how the voice functions best.

You can expect to clear away a lot of confusions regarding how the voice works and to take away the guesswork from the vocal development process.

If you want to improve your voice quickly, being guided by someone who understands how it all works and by someone who was where you are today and is now closer to where you want to be in the future is the best way to go. And Gabriel is that guy!

Gabriel's approach is quite simple, yet very effective at developing the entire voice.

"There are two basic levels that every singer must address. The first one is addressing the condition of the body and voice and the second one is addressing the functioning of the voice and body."

I - Silent Foundation

The silent foundation refers to the condition of your instrument as it is silent. If we are looking at the body as an instrument that sings, we first have to make sure that our instrument is in good condition. How healthy is your instrument? Is it well rested, well hydrated and loose? Or is it tired, dehydrated and tense? As you could guess, the condition of your instrument will have a significant impact on the quality of the sounds you make. So the first thing to be addressed is how your instrument is before it starts making sound.

II - Conditioning of Singing Behaviors

This is when we get busy. Once we have a well rested, healthy, hydrated and relaxed instrument we can start working it out. The goal is to condition our singing behaviors to be reflexive, reliable and strong. The way to do this is through a series of vocal exercises that will condition your voice to respond to the desires of your heart. Whatever it is that you want to express will be possible once your instrument is conditioned to the point where there is no gap between what you want to express and your ability to do so. Learning to sing is all about learning how to express yourself without barriers. You should be able to develop enough range, power, control and skill so that you can express your heart without feeling like you'™re incapable of achieving what you pursue. To achieve these abilities training is often necessary.

About Claire
I hold an MFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts and have been teaching professionally for over ten years. I teach Acting and Auditiong to young actors (10-18 years) and also teach Public Speaking, Voice and Accent Reduction to those looking to find more ease and power when using their voice in front of others. I have taught, directed and coached young actors who have gone on to work professionally in Film, TV and Theater. My students have been accepted to conservatory programs like NYU Tisch, California Institute of the Arts, AMDA and others. I am a passionate teacher that believes in the individual and in unlocking the creative genius, the impulses, the individual imagination and the unique forms of expression of each of my students. In my sessions, I encourage my students to “play” and to discover how to tap in
to relaxation, ease and focus in whatever the task — a monologue, an audition, developing a character, or analyzing a text. In addition to teaching and coaching actors, I have worked extensively in the areas of Voice and Speech and coached and taught Public Speaking and Presentation, Accent Reduction and ESL. I have taught students from all over the globe, China, Russia, Taiwan, Italy, Japan and from all over the U.S. Throughout the ten plus years I have taught, I have helped both actors and non-actors alike, those in the professional business world, gain tools that lead to freedom and ease of expression when speaking in front of others, be it at an audition, an interview, giving a presentation to a board or speaking in front of thousands at a Ted Talk.

About Helen
Singers and actors of all ages build a stronger resonant voice and learn how to sing right on pitch. Learning how to breathe correctly and lean into the breath also helps you produce a sound that projects. Learning how to use phrasing will also make your singing more beautiful and enjoyable. You will love the sound that you learn how to make when you sing.

Phrasing is one of the most important skills that good singers develop. As you learn how to use phrasing and emotion to tell the story of the song you will gain confidence and ease as you perform. Frank Sinatra was a master of phrasing, so is Renee Fleming, the famous soprano who has sung at opera houses all over the world. Sting has a different style of singing. His voice is smooth a butter as it flows over the words giving them deep meaning. You can learn a lot about singing by
listening to good singers that you like. You will learn a lot from them.

If you would like to raise or lower your speaking voice I can help you learn how to modulate your voice so it will have a pleasant sound in a register that feels right for you.

I also help students with special needs, including adults with Parkinson's helping them develop and maintain the strength of their voice and speak with greater confidence and ease.

Helen B taught me for the past year and a half. She was not only a very good teacher but also very patient. She used different methods if I did not understand the first way. I learned various tricks that would make sure I enunciated properly and could sing louder without using too much breath. She always encouraged me if I felt like I did not do as well as I wanted to do, and gave me various exercises to do and videos to see when I get home to practice. By using these techniques, I was always sure that I had learned something every lesson.
