I've been teaching Viola for more than 10 years, giving masterclasses and lessons to students of any age and level. I work in a way that corresponds with individual student's needs, either it is basic posture and hand position problems, sound quality, technical difficulties in specific pieces, or understanding and communicating musical ideas. You will learn how to practice in more effective way, and how to be more comfortable and relaxed, playing viola.

About Mikhail
Dr. B received his Doctorate at Michigan State University where he studied with Yuri Gandelsman. Prior to his study in the United States, Mikhail was a member of Novosibirsk State Academic Orchestra and Novosibirsk Kamerata. Mikhail performed as a soloist with Novosibirsk Academic Orchestra, Novosibirsk Kamerata, Livingston Symphony, MSU Symphony, and MSU philharmonic orchestras. As a chamber musician, Mikhail participated at Music Mountain Festival in Connecticut with St. Petersburg Quartet, at Cello Plus Festival at MSU, performed at the Lansing Symphony Chamber Series Concerts as a member of Armonia String Quartet and at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp faculty concerts. Mikhail teaches privately, as well as at Okemos Music Academy and at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

Lessons are tailored to fit each individual student's ability and goals. I believe in challenging students while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment. Lessons will cover music theory, technique, and solo pieces. The goal is to develop in each student the specific skills needed to play a string instrument as well as to nurture an understanding and love for music.
Lessons take place at my apartment in Southeast Denver, near Hampden and I-25. Students are expected to prepare for and participate annual studio recitals. In addition to lessons, students are strongly encouraged to participate in a music ensemble program such as Suzuki group classes, school orchestra, or youth or community orchestras.

About Kostadin
I was raised in a musical family in my home country of Bulgaria, where I attended a highly competitive full-time performing arts school from age 6. I was trained in the Russian school of violin playing and have found this to be a very successful method for my younger students in the United States. Another important pedagogical mentor for me is my viola teacher at Rice University, Ivo-Jan Van der Werff, who has developed a systematic approach to building technique fundamentals in advanced violists and violinists. I believe that studying music is very valuable for instilling self-motivation, discipline, and dedication for students of all ages. I was involved in the Mercury Orchestra's outreach partnership with YES Prep schools, which serve underprivileged communities in Houston. I was also a string specialist at the Village School in Housto
n, and my students there and in other public schools in the area excelled in the All-Region and All-State competitions.

I have been teaching violin and viola for a few years now. And when I was in high school, I would help the orchestra teacher in teaching/leading sections (violin and viola) until individuals would feel comfortable playing on their own as well as in the orchestra. I prefer to teach viola as it is my main instrument that I’ve been playing for 13 years now. I am very patient with ones learning and I would love to teach you too!

About Cydnee
Hi! My name is Cydnee and I love to teach music. Seeing that you are reading my bio, you like music too! I love teaching viola to others because it is a unique instrument that not everyone knows about. Not only will I teach you about the instrument itself, I will teach you how to to read treble clef so you can play advanced songs that not every viola player knows how to read! I am very patient and flexible. Here’s a bonus: I don’t charge on the first lesson! The first lesson will be more informative and you will get to see my personal outline on how I succeed in teaching different people according to their learning abilities and get to know me as a teacher. So don’t hesitate in choosing me for your viola teacher!

The viola is such an under appreciated instrument, but we violists know that it's the world that's missing out! improvisation and musicianship are my primary focuses in viola teaching. Music theory will also make its way into our lessons. The goal is to walk away confident in your playing ability.

About Brysien
I enjoy teaching and I love to see my students progress. When we work, you will improve. I have been an actively performing musician since the age of 14 and have presented concerts and taught classes in several countries.

While I teach many musical subjects, my specialties are working with the voice and teaching violin. If you;d like to become a skilled singer or violinist I think we will eb a good fit.

Maybe you just want to try singing or violin once or twice to see if it fits. That's OK too! If you're curious about music this is a healthy way to safely explore that curiosity with guidance.

As a teacher of both violin and viola, my mission is to help prepare students to both build a skill-set on their instrument and aid in the organizational process towards becoming a confident and articulate musician and person. My studies with an extremely diverse group of professional musicians during the course of my student life have greatly shaped the way I view myself, and I aim to bring the best of my training to my current and future students.

About Brandin
Brandin Kreuder (24) enjoys a growing career as a chamber musician, studio musician, and as an orchestral musician. Mr. Kreuder began the violin at the age of 9, and at 23 he switched primarily to the viola. In 2018, at the age of 24 he was named a finalist for the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami Beach, Florida. He is currently the viola TA to Brittany MacWilliams at the University of Louisville School of Music, and performs in the graduate string quartet.

With a strong entrepreneurial drive, Mr. Kreuder performs with pianist Craig Jordan as Duo Vis-À-Vis. They have performed five self-organized concert tours since meeting in 2016. Recent performance locations have included Kansas City, Missouri; Boulder, Colorado; San Francisco, California; Madison, Wisconsin; and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

As a fellow with the Henry Mancini I
nstitute orchestra at the University of Miami from 2016-2018, Mr. Kreuder has performed and shared the stage with Julie Andrews, John Williams, Kristen Chenoweth, Matthew Morrison, Bruce Hornsby, Monica Mancini, and James Galway (among others). In 2017, he served as the concertmaster for the world premiere performance of The Pink Panther live with the film in Boca Raton, Florida.

In summer of 2016, Mr. Kreuder was accepted as a leadership scholar to the Sewanee Music Festival in Tennessee, where he had the privilege to attend on full scholarship and coach student chamber groups. In 2014 he attended the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute (BPI), as an intern on full scholarship. Mr. Kreuder credits baroque practice to developing looser playing.

Mr. Kreuder has performed in pit orchestras for over 30 theatre productions. In the summers of 2018 and 2017 he held the position of Principal Viola with the College Light Opera Company in Cape Cod, after formerly serving as Assistant Concertmaster in 2015. Additionally, he worked as the Principal Second Violin with the Franco American Vocal Academy in Périgueux, France.

Mr. Kreuder has been fortunate to perform on a number of fine instruments, including a 17th century Andrea Guarneri violin from Lawrence University, and most recently a Gaetano Gadda viola on short-term loan from violinist Charles Castleman.

Outside of music, Mr. Kreuder exhibits his ceramic and drawing work professionally. In spring of 2018, he had work exhibited in both Petoskey and Traverse City, Michigan. In April of 2017, other work was featured in a juried exhibit in Miami’s Wynwood art district, where it was selected as the Best of Show. Mr. Kreuder is also an avid traveler and has visited 12 countries outside of the USA.
