I have played clarinet from the time I was a child in 6th grade. I played in concert band as well as marching band. One of my best memories of playing in high school was when our band played in the Orange Bowl Parade.

I teach all levels of clarinet. I use several different books including the rubank books, and a few just for clarinet. I also have many solo fun and classical books for students to use.

About Heather
I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 25 years. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. I am a member of my church choir. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It is the best job ever.

*** Lesson Details ***
I
use a variety of curriculum, which includes classical, broadway, some pop, new age, and jazz. After 3 to 6 months you will have a basic understanding of your instrument and will be ready to take off! I do ask students to keep track of your practicing so you can see your progress.

For piano:
I use the Alfred Basic Books for beginners and then we move to the Keith Snell books along with other supplemental books. If a student already is using a book, generally we will finish that book up so they won't have to purchase another set of books.

For Saxophone and Clarinet:
I use the Rubank books along with other supplemental books

For Voice:
I use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias, The Young Singer, and various Broadway books. Any pop music must be purchased by student as there is just way too much to chose from for me to have a lot of it.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio: in living room with 2 pianos at entrance of house. Seating is available as well toys and a table for siblings.

*** Specialties ***
Voice - Classical & Broadway
Piano - classical
Clarinet - classical and pop
Saxophone - classical, pop, and some jazz

Lessons for people who are new to the instrument, or people who are at/want to be at an intermediate level.

About Michelle
I'm studying music education at Wayne State University and I've been teaching students for a few years, but started as a paid teacher in June 2013. I teach basic piano and music reading to young children.
I am both a woodwind and brass player; I started as a clarinet/bass clarinet player, then I switched to horn in high school and have played flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba. I started as a clarinet player back in September of 2006 and as a horn player in January of 2011. Horn is my primary instrument now, but I also play clarinet and saxophone in pit orchestras and other ensembles.
I am an active player in the Wayne State University Bands and Orchestra, while staying an active member of the Rochester Community Concert Band (formerly called the Rochester College Concert Band).

Lessons depend on the desired style. Traditional jazz, like Dixieland has different requirements than does symphonic band. But foundation work will include fingering, scale and interval work, and breath control

About Dave
Thank you for visiting my page! You've come to the right place. Over the past several years, I've helped dozens upon dozens of music students of all ages and skill levels improve their skills at playing saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Along with basic theory, tone production, music reading, and intonation, I teach jazz and beginning improvisation, concert band, blues, soul, and R&B.

My school-age students win chair placements, place well in auditions, and some win awards. Some examples: recently, one of my sax students won the M.J. Brown Family Performing Arts Music Award, and an 11-year-old flute student won both Most Improved Jazz Student and Outstanding Achievement in his orchestra class.

My adult learners have fun re-connecting with their instrument of choice. Most students have been with me for one to three years.

Students
thrive on structure and goals, and I have developed a unique approach to practicing that gets results. I teach all ages and skill levels to play saxophone, clarinet, and flute. I cover many styles, from concert band, to jazz, blues, soul, and R&B, theory, tone, articulation, and more. I am experienced with preschoolers to middle school-age children, high school and college ages, nervous adult beginners, and special needs students.

I recommend the following lesson structure:
• First-time beginners: one 30-minute lesson per week
• Older beginners to intermediate students: one 45 minute lesson per week
• Advanced students: 60 minutes once each week

My approach to lessons is to support a competition-free environment where every level of player can feel comfortable, have fun, and make fast and steady progress. Students are also encouraged to participate in all-ages jam sessions, and at our recitals.

I work from my home studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Centrally located in La Mesa, my studio is just a few minutes east of Qualcomm Stadium. Plenty of free parking, and parents are encouraged to sit in during lessons.

On Thursdays, I'm in my La Jolla studio on Girard at La Jolla Music.

My own teaching experience includes private post-secondary, SDSU’s College of Extended Studies, and I’ve facilitated and run woodwind master classes at Grossmont and Valhalla High Schools.

I have taught beginning clarinet in my band programs for 6 years now. I have a proven method that will work for any absolute beginner at any age. We will talk about tone production, reading music, reeds, and many other fundamental skills needed to get you off the ground playing the clarinet. After the 1st year of lessons, I would recommend you move to a teacher who plays primarily on the clarinet.

About Matthew
Hi, I am Matt. I am a band director in the Fort Smith, AR area. I am in my 7th year teaching band and love every minute of it. I have recently decided to return to teaching private lessons, and would love to help you with your auditions, festival music, AP music theory exams, or just learn some skills on becoming a better musician. Outside of the audition music, we continually work tone production, range, and confidence on any brass instrument. In college I had a small guitar studio as well. Some of those guitar students have gone on to study at the collegiate level and gig around town today! I am comfortable teaching at all levels, but my expertise is centered around student development at the middle school to high school level.

June 2012 - June 2015 I was the head band director of Waldron High School. We won several awards through ou
r marching and concert band program. I also ran after school lessons in which many students made our region honor band.

June 2015 - Present
I am currently the head director at Trinity Junior High in Fort Smith. I run a 7-9 band program that includes both marching and concert band seasons. Our student involvement is quite high as our band program serves about 50% of our total student population. My band here has received many superior and excellent through our state association, and 15 of 60 students made our local honor band in 2017,

Hi! I have a Bachelors in Music Education and have started many students on their instruments. I have 3 children so I decided to give up regular teaching to be with them.
Hoping to give the love of “playing” an instrument to many others!

About Kim
Hello! I started my love of music at a young age with my family playing and singing at family functions. That turned into a wanting to learn how to play the flute and I went up through high school with that instrument. After high school I branched out more into vocal performance. After that I joined a traveling performance group. No not the circus! I joined Drum and Bugle Corp. They taught be how to play the Baritone and I marched a straight Baritone. I then learned the Mellophone and marched that after. Since I had experience with Drum Corp Marching I taught over 10 different marching programs over many different years. I graduated from College with my Bachelors in Music Education and was a music director until I had my children and decided to give up regular teaching. After all of the years I spent honing my craft I decided t
o continue giving lessons. I have the most experience with Flute, but can teach many other instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone/euphonium, piano.
I have worked with many different age groups and levels of ability. I am happy to help you learn to have fun and "play" your instrument!
