I am a retired Elementary School Teacher both for the Archdiocese of Detroit and Garden City Public Schools. I have also taught reading at a summer day camp for over ten years. I love to instill the love of reading in all my students, and I enjoy reading as well. I read anything and everything I can get my hands on. I am also a published author of three children's books grades 4th to 8th grades.
I have taught both in the school systems and in my home for over thirty years.

About Kathy

I am a patient, enthusiastic teacher in the following areas: piano, violin, cello, drums, music history, and music theory. I have taught vocal and instrumental music in both Catholic and Public schools, and in after-school programs, for 20 years, and have been giving private lessons for 9 years. I

A great passionate violin instructor.
Loquacious, but each moment of verbal conversation has a message that leads to the musical lessons of the day. I really appreciate her knowledge and skill. I am often reminiscent of my violin instructor as a child. Each session leaves me with the zeal to practice hard in eager preparation
for the next.

Kathy is a kind, patient and methodical teacher. She develops your piano skills with a structured program of theory and exercises geared toward constant improvement. She has helped me improve my piano technique throughout our time together. I have been able to play increasingly challenging pieces on a regular basis with her. I look forward to steadily improving my piano skills.

I have recently returned from a week long stay at the Sonatina Piano Camp in Bennington VT and would like to notify all those piano students who may read this review as to the wonderful experience attending this camp can be. The camp takes adult piano students at all piano skill levels from beginner to well accomplished. Students stay in shared rooms (2-4 persons) which includes a piano in every room. Attendance is usually 18- 27 persons. The mansion itself is home to approx. 30 pianos. All meals are provided (and are outstanding) as well as piano classes and 4 lessons with concert pianists or university piano professors. Ample time is provided to practice a performance piece for the end of week performance night. Master classes are given on several evenings for those wishing to perform a work in progress piece for the attendees and the camp owner providing a public lesson.
I have found that the attending student group to be extremely supportive to all other students especially to those experiencing performance anxiety. Repeating attendees (from all over the country) have formed lasting friendships among themselves which have endured for years. Eight week long sessions are given throughout the year. In addition there are summer sessions for school aged youth
and also 4 short week sessions for those wishing to try a sampling of the camp. This past January was my 3rd year attending the camp and I will be returning again next year. My experiences at the camp have been truly unforgettable. More information can be obtained at Sonatina.com

Hello,

With over 8 years experience in tutoring, I have learned what methods work and those that don’t. I’m upbeat, patient, easy going, empathetic, and generally well-liked by others. I’m very good at adapting to different learning styles and have a knack for eliciting the best out of my students through motivation and positive reinforcement.

Throughout university, and after, I mentored many students with great results. In addition to academics I helped them get the most out of their college experience. Everyone I helped benefited greatly, and one runs a very successful consulting business.

Aside from math and English, I’m a very proficient test and note taker. I speak conversational Spanish, and basic Japanese.

About Mitch

Whether you're completely lost, just need a little help, or need some test/note taking tips I can be very helpful. My patient, easy going, and positive mindset is very conducive to creating a great learning atmosphere. I can also be very useful to those that aren't motivated, I have a knack for fin

I do have formal experience as a teacher. I taught English as a Second Language to Children in Chengdu, China for 9 months in 2019. The children I taught ranged from age 4 all the way to 9. While there I always made sure my lessons were engaging and covered all the appropriate literacies- listening, speaking, reading and writing.

In 2014 I achieved a Associates Degree in Science from Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. While there I worked for two consecutive years at the Chil

I have an MEd and an EdD from Keele University. I am an experienced and patient tutor with a love for learning and a true passion for helping students achieve their potential. I am qualified in Educational Psychology and have taught in schools in England for many years before moving to the USA. I have extensive experience working with children who have additional learning needs/disabilities, especially in teaching children to read, those with dsylexia, dsycalculia and reading recovery.

I tutor in K-9 reading, writing, comprehension, vocab and spelling and used tried and tested international techniques that really work and get results. I also tutor maths for grades K-5 and Social Studies K-9. I prefer to tutor in your home, where the child feels comfortable, but other locations are available. I hope to get to know you and help you and your children achieve your hopes and dreams.

Learning to read can be challenging in English. Our language, while beautiful, has as many unique characteristics as do our people! Since I have a secondary English minor, I've had long experience in reading, teaching and interacting with many levels of students.

Difficulty in reading can often be simply a translation problem. When that glitch is narrowed in on, and taken apart, the magic of words opens up!

"My students and I have had the opportunity to work with Stacey at the school building level and online. Stacey's reading intervention strategies have helped students improve their reading levels by 1.5 to 2 years throughout a six month timeframe. Stacey's instructional practices are rooted in research from experts in teaching reading and writing, such as Lucy Calkins. I would recommend utilizing the different reading and writing strategies that Stacey can implement for small groups and individualized tutoring."
