Students will identify a place that is special to them and represent the place and what makes it special through words and oil painting
“My students love this program! Truly, what an amazing gift this has been to our art community! Never have I felt so competent in incorporating art integration into my curriculum.”

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Moe is a good instructor, he has a lot of experience with teaching basics and intermediate topics in the fine arts. Not only is he familiar with traditional painting and techniques, but his practice itself is very innovative in inspiring you how to harness your own skills and seeing artmaking in your own way.

In my classes I emphasize two things: creating a new way of seeing, and practicing accuracy in what you see. We move through exercises that develop creativity and work through the fundamental technical components of making a drawing or a painting. Each class builds upon the tools we've developed from the last so students come away with a comprehensive understanding of art making, rather than a step-by-step formula. We work together to not only increase technical proficiency and achieve specific goals, but to develop the confidence to make art anywhere the mood strikes, whether it be painting at your kitchen table or sketching in a coffee shop or a hotel balcony.

About Kelsey
I've currently relocated from Brooklyn to LA, where I have a studio and maintain an active painting practice. In New York, as an art instructor I taught drawing, color theory, and painting as a guest lecturer at Pratt Institute, to professors looking to expand their knowledge base at NYU and Yale; former affiliates of The Cloisters; and small-scale private lessons at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and, of course, my favorite way to teach: one-on-one private lessons.

My current body of work is concerned with a female character that inhabits worlds populated by plant life. I was most recently represented by Christopher Stout Gallery New York (2015-17), and have exhibited in New York, Germany, Miami, Toronto, and Montreal. I was awarded residencies at the Centre Pompadour (France); Emerson Landing, Eastside International, Starry Night (USA
); and CanSerrat (Spain). Publications featuring my work include: Brooklyn Magazine, Whitehot Magazine, NYC-ARTS, Posture Magazine, Flavorwire, Lost at E-Minor, Lip Magazine, Tjen Folket, and the Globe and Mail. My next solo exhibition is in the Spring of 2018 in New York.

Not only do I teach my students the good practices of using their art materials so their work will have longevity, but I teach them to have an artist observation skill, patience and to really "see". Also taught, in my painting classes, are the methods of classic oil painting from glazing to "a la prima" and for drawing, exploration of graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, pen and ink and perspective. While learning to paint or draw, art history can not be left out in a student's art education, so classes include art history as well as the use of materials.

About Linda J.
What can I say, I love art and teaching others to love it and get excited about what they can be proud of creating. Creating good art has no age limit and it is something you can do the rest of your life to express yourself. All a student needs is the desire to learn, good training and to learn to really see the world all around them. Most of us go about our daily routine, failing to see the wonders that are right in front of us. If something like an idea or a beautiful scene from nature catches your attention and your words can not express what you are seeing or feeling, painting and drawing can help you do this. In my private lessons or group classes, all you need is the desire to learn, the art materials, and leave your self criticism at the door. I teach students to create something they can be proud of, not to be critics. From th
e age of 5, I knew art was the field of study I would spend my life learning. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Science & Design, plus an art education certification from the University of Michigan and taught art in the Troy Public Schools, I have been teaching in my studio since then with private as well as group lessons of three to six students. I have also continued my art education as an apprentice along with a few others, to a local master of painting and sculpture. The learning should never stop!

I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical oil paint skills. I specialize in realism.

About Mariana
I am a professional artist. I've been studying representative fine art at the Art Students League of New York since 2013.

My students can expect to improve week to week in their drawing and painting techniques. While gaining knowledge of the fundamental principles of perception—light, plane-structure, tonal value, perspective, proportion—students will learn to construct images that realistically and accurately interpret objects in space. This solid foundation will enable students to express their personal creative vocabulary more clearly and effectively.

I teach students of all different ages and experience levels.

My personal passion is realism in classical and contemporary art but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better artist!

Lessons with Mariana were very helpful. I started as a beginner and she helped me to learn basic theory behind drawing, as well as to develop my skills and gain confidence. I studied graphite anatomical drawing and advanced a lot in that technique since we started a year ago.
