I have been teaching violin for over fifty years. I teach using a progressive Suzuki method. I have a unique method of teaching scales using a pattern system which makes scale studies quick and easy to learn in all positions on the violin. I have tutorial videos to go along with your lessons for both Suzuki pieces and scale studies. I teach fiddle and Jazz violin for those who are interested. I also teach on line lessons
I have experience playing in theater, Orchestras, and small ensembles. I am currently playing in the Timpanogos Symphony in Highland Utah. I am also playing in a string quartet.
My students sit in the first chairs in their School Orchestras. I have a good relationship with the School Music Teachers. I always put the school music first and help the student to be comfortable in their surroundings.

I began playing violin as a young child, and progressed to several hours a day during my teenage years. I taught throughout college, both as a violin instructor and as a private instructor.

My teaching programs vary according to the level of the student, and the goal he or she has set for him/herself, be it as a support to a school educational program or a personal love for music and/or the violin that seeks to develop itself into a practice.

About Gabrielle

Bonjour a tous! Dear Students, A native French speaker, I have been tutoring students of all levels since 2008. I was the main French and German Instructor at the San Jose Learning Center in the Silicon Valley before moving to New York. The core of my lessons are drawn from language books,

Gabrielle is a fantastic teacher. She not only is a native French speaker she is also a grammar guru! She has helped me finally understand my verb conjugations (probably because she teaches young children and can reduce the information to the simplest terms - thanks Gabrielle). She’s also patient and lovely and wonderful to work with. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier.
Makenna F.
My daughter came out of her first lesson all smiles! She said she learned more in 1 lesson then she did in months in her last French class.

Hello to each of you! My name is Corey, and I have been teaching for 31 years. My primary professional instrument is cello, but started on violin at the age of 7. As I progressed as a child I played violin in the school orchestra setting, and cello outside of the school systems. Like many of you I've been locked up in my home because of Covid19. What fun! Not really... but I have been enjoying teaching 24 of my current private students. Additionally, I have been teaching music at a Waldorf School in Portland Oregon for 22 years. My work at the school has decreased because of the crisis and now I've been moved to 1/2 time. I'm so excited to expand my teaching studio, and have the opportunity to meet you. I teach beginning and intermediate violin students. I studied violin at the Community Music Center in Portland, OR. My degree is BM in cello performance from Portland State University 1993, and I have studied (and/or had master classes) with Stephanie McDougal, Hamilton Cheifetz, Yo

Corey has been an amazing teacher for both of my sons! His talent with the instruments, his ability to share facts and make it interesting, and his intuition about what is effective for teaching young kids make the experience really wonderful for our whole family. He has been flexible in scheduling lessons. He is kind and patient with the boys. They look forward to their lessons every week and that is a great victory even if daily practice is challenging. Both boys have shown great improvement in their skills!

Corey is the single biggest reason I stuck with music and was eventually accepted to several notable music conservatories including the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and Oberlin Conservatory. I began studying with Corey at the age of 9, and he made the entire learning process exciting and engaging. His enthusiasm for music is contagious for students at all levels, and his expertise in guiding his pupils through the extremely complex process of learning a stringed instrument is unparalleled. Corey brings decades of pedagogical and professional experience to each lesson, and is always eager to impart this wisdom on his students. I cannot recommend Corey enough, for students at any level he is the best teacher you will be able to find!
Jenny
Our daughter studied violin with Corey for six years. She loved learning from him. I think Corey has a wonderful ability to nurture the love of making music. His teaching style is kind and patient. And he makes it fun. I would highly recommend him!

only had chance to have 6 hours class during our trip to US. But my boy likes Mr. Ray’s class very much, we hope to come back to DC and learn from Ray again.

"Lessons with Alethia have been a fantastic experience. I played violin for a while when I was younger, but even though it's been a long time, she was able to get me back into it and loving playing again. Alethia is an incredibly talented instructor, perfectly able to identify and correct any trouble spots, keeping you improving and always playing better. I always leave lessons full of energy and excited about the progress made. She has always been super flexible and accommodating, and can help you get where you want and achieve your goals. I would highly recommend Alethia to anyone looking for lessons and look forward to continuing playing and learning from her."

He started out with the basics, switched with him to current music when his interest was waning, and is now helping him get ready for orchestra next year. 5 Maintenance Tips for Violin Bows

All musical instruments require attention and maintenance. When it comes to the violin, however, it is easy to forget that the bow needs as much care as the instrument itself. After all, the way you treat your violin bows will affect the way the violin sounds. If too much resin builds up on the hairs, for example, the sound will come out wrong. While it may not be as costly to repair or replace violin bows, why waste money when it’s easy to keep your violin bows in good working condition? …
