It was such a pleasure meeting Kaira! She was so warm and welcoming. My daughter loved her singing lesson. She has grown so much as a singer and is more confident than ever. You will not regret hiring Kaira, she is absolutely the best vocal coach I could have ever found for my child. Very professional and knowledgeable!

It was my daughter's first contact with professional acting.
She has been talking about being an actress for quite a while now, so we decided to let her take a few lessons to see if she likes it.
Ollie was really comprehensive of our needs and made us see the big picture of that world... just what we needed, to start walking into that direction on the right path.
My daughter had a wonderful time with Ollie.

I booked 4 acting sessions with Ms. Ollie for my daughter. Ms. Ollie did a phenomenal job starting from scratch, coaching my daughter for her up coming audition. My daughter had no acting experience, she was shy, and soft spoken but in just 4 short days, Ms. Ollie turned her into a confident, outspoken young actress. My daughter nailed her audition thanks to Ollie!! I will highly recommend her as your acting coach.

About Amanda
Hi there! I'm Amanda!

Congratulations on starting/continuing your language journey in French! I would love to join you! I'm a PhD student at the University of Florida studying Linguistics with a specialization in Second Language Acquisition (aka the best ways to learn languages)!!! Different, from the other individuals listed here, I am not a language teacher, I am a language COACH. It's time to learn a language like it's the 21st century! Let's work together to reach your goals!

What is a language coach?

As a language coach, I enable students to focus on their goals and hold them accountable for accomplishing them. I promote student agency and allow students to make choices about their own learning; this way each lesson fits their individual needs and differences. As your own language and success coach, we will not only work t
ogether to understand the target language vocabulary and grammar, but we will also delve into the metacognitive and self-regulatory skills necessary to study quickly and efficiently, feel comfortable speaking the language, and get ahead in other areas of your life as well!

My mission for each lesson is to provide a language learning experience unique in its approach to incorporate strategy instruction including reducing foreign language anxiety, building agency, and developing self-regulated learning skills. My coaching objective is to help learners reach their second language goals through not only language teaching, but student empowerment as well. I aim to help students realize and build their own agency, resulting in a self-actualized, relaxed, and engaged learning environment. Through this one-of-a-kind coaching method, success is having my students end each tutoring session feeling positive, and eventually ending tutoring sessions all together knowing that they are competent, intelligible, and composed speakers of the target language.

I have been a language instructor and coach since 2009 teaching children English in France through the TAPIF program. I have taught/coached undergraduates French at both the Ohio University (where I earned my BA and MA in French) and the University of Florida (where I am earning my PhD in Linguistics). Further, I have taught English as a Second Language at the University of Florida as well as Santa Fe College.

As a researcher, I have focused my life's work and dissertation on the topic of lowering Foreign Language Anxiety in foreign language learners. Foreign Language Anxiety is often cited as the number 1 correlation to achievement in acquiring the target language. Do you get nervous when you attempt to speak the language that you've learned? Are you scared what others are going to think of you? Do you have perfectionist tendencies? Well, helping you manage Foreign Language Anxiety while learning French would be exactly my skill set!

While I am a seasoned, SLAT (Second Language Acquisition and Teaching) certified instructor and am able to teach at the university level, tutoring is my true passion. I began tutoring in 2008 at Ohio University and I have not stopped since. My youngest tutee was 4 years old and my oldest tutee, who is still working with me, is 72 years old. I can cater to all ages, language levels, individual differences, objectives and goals, attitudes, and motivation levels. Send me a message with any questions that you have, and we can chat and set some goals for your language learning journey.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you in any way possible in the world of French or ESL! Talk to you soon! :)

I love to inspire students to practice, that is where the real magic happens. I love to see them not only set goals for themselves but reach them. I am willing to do whatever it takes to see them succeed. I love working with people and encouraging them. I have been a horn player since August 2007. I am studying french horn at Grand Valley State University but am also efficient in euphonium, piano, music theory, aural (reading rhythms and reciting them aloud), and trumpet. I have been in marching band for 6 years on mellophone so I can also help with teaching marching techniques and mellophone playing since it is very different from french horn.

About Isabela
I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested student who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I be
lieve in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.

Today's lesson was wonderful. I had so much fun, and my lesson, though an hour long, felt much to short. Isabela is very helpful and teaches the most important things first. She lays down the basics and then moving to a more advanced level, so that you are always prepared for what comes next. I can feel myself improving, and I can't wait until next time.

About Sam
I'm a freelance political reporter with bylines in VICE, the Daily Beast and newspapers in Michigan and North Dakota. I've written long feature stories on politicians, dispatches on the latest in Congress and written essays and fiction to boot.

When I work with students young and old, my biggest goal is to get them to see their writing in a new, exciting light. No matter what we're working on — a cover letter, a short story or a term paper — I like helping writers see more than one way they can show the world their big ideas.

I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2013 with a B.A. in English, and soon after began working for MLive, one of Michigan's largest statewide news outlets. In 2015, I moved to North Dakota to take a job with the state's biggest newspaper syndicate, and soon became one of its foremost political and
investigative reporters, winning awards for reports on the state attorney general and the 2018 U.S. Senate race.

I've since written about that same Senate race for VICE, where I also covered water contamination in Michigan, and I've written for the Daily Beast about a long-shot run by a gay North Dakotan for statewide office — a big step for the state I lived in for years.

I have ample experience working with college students from my days as a university writing mentor at Central Michigan, and I now tutor refugee children and mentor middle schoolers in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

If you have any questions about my lessons — from availability to content — don't hesitate to ask!
