I have been teaching cello privately for over ten years. Along with that I teach the theory behind it as well.
I use the books Strictly Strings for Cello Book 1, and String Builder for Cello Book I. I also use some outside music that I have on hand when the student is ready for it.
I love teaching anyone who wants to learn any instrument. I also teach the theory along with it so the student will become a good cello player.

About Kathy

I am a patient, enthusiastic teacher in the following areas: piano, violin, cello, drums, music history, and music theory. I have taught vocal and instrumental music in both Catholic and Public schools, and in after-school programs, for 20 years, and have been giving private lessons for 9 years. I

A great passionate violin instructor.
Loquacious, but each moment of verbal conversation has a message that leads to the musical lessons of the day. I really appreciate her knowledge and skill. I am often reminiscent of my violin instructor as a child. Each session leaves me with the zeal to practice hard in eager preparation
for the next.

Kathy is a kind, patient and methodical teacher. She develops your piano skills with a structured program of theory and exercises geared toward constant improvement. She has helped me improve my piano technique throughout our time together. I have been able to play increasingly challenging pieces on a regular basis with her. I look forward to steadily improving my piano skills.

I have recently returned from a week long stay at the Sonatina Piano Camp in Bennington VT and would like to notify all those piano students who may read this review as to the wonderful experience attending this camp can be. The camp takes adult piano students at all piano skill levels from beginner to well accomplished. Students stay in shared rooms (2-4 persons) which includes a piano in every room. Attendance is usually 18- 27 persons. The mansion itself is home to approx. 30 pianos. All meals are provided (and are outstanding) as well as piano classes and 4 lessons with concert pianists or university piano professors. Ample time is provided to practice a performance piece for the end of week performance night. Master classes are given on several evenings for those wishing to perform a work in progress piece for the attendees and the camp owner providing a public lesson.
I have found that the attending student group to be extremely supportive to all other students especially to those experiencing performance anxiety. Repeating attendees (from all over the country) have formed lasting friendships among themselves which have endured for years. Eight week long sessions are given throughout the year. In addition there are summer sessions for school aged youth
and also 4 short week sessions for those wishing to try a sampling of the camp. This past January was my 3rd year attending the camp and I will be returning again next year. My experiences at the camp have been truly unforgettable. More information can be obtained at Sonatina.com

I’m passionate about music education and I am a full time music teacher and active performer throughout the SE Michigan area. In the summers I teach cello and music improvisation at the Cellochanwoods Cello retreat in Vermont.

Lessons are designed and catered around each student and I believe in a well rounded approach in teaching music. While everyone will learn a solid foundation of note reading and playing technique, lessons also pull from sources such as music theory, ear training, music history, etc.

I hold a Masters in Music Performance from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London and a Bachelors in Music Performance from the University of Michigan.

Whether you’re looking to learn a new hobby, or further your musical skills, I’d love to help out. All levels welcome!

I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument. Not just how to play the instrument but working on ...

Victor has been an amazing teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable not only about violin, but about practically every other stringed instrument there is. He also has an amazing grasp of musical theory, and has really helped me learn about my instrument. He has also helped me grow as a student. He keeps me interested in the music, and still challenges me to keep improving. I have had other music teachers, but he is definitely the best I've had.

Hello to each of you! My name is Corey, and I have been teaching cello for 31 years. Like many of you I've been locked up in my home because of Covid19. What fun! Not really... but I have been enjoying teaching 24 of my current private students. Additionally, I have been teaching music at a Waldorf School in Portland Oregon for 22 years. My work at the school has decreased because of the crisis and now I've been moved to 1/2 time. I'm so excited to expand my teaching studio, and have the opportunity to meet you. I teach beginning through advanced students. My degree is BM in cello performance from Portland State University 1993, and I have studied (and/or had master classes) with Stephanie McDougal, Hamilton Cheifetz, Yo Yo Ma, Hans Jurgen Jensen, and Carter Brey. I attended Tanglewood Institute in 1987, and Congress of Strings in 1988 both on a full scholarship. My lessons are both fun, educational, and I work diligently toward teaching great technique in both the right and left ...

Corey has been an amazing teacher for both of my sons! His talent with the instruments, his ability to share facts and make it interesting, and his intuition about what is effective for teaching young kids make the experience really wonderful for our whole family. He has been flexible in scheduling lessons. He is kind and patient with the boys. They look forward to their lessons every week and that is a great victory even if daily practice is challenging. Both boys have shown great improvement in their skills!

Corey is the single biggest reason I stuck with music and was eventually accepted to several notable music conservatories including the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and Oberlin Conservatory. I began studying with Corey at the age of 9, and he made the entire learning process exciting and engaging. His enthusiasm for music is contagious for students at all levels, and his expertise in guiding his pupils through the extremely complex process of learning a stringed instrument is unparalleled. Corey brings decades of pedagogical and professional experience to each lesson, and is always eager to impart this wisdom on his students. I cannot recommend Corey enough, for students at any level he is the best teacher you will be able to find!
Jenny
Our daughter studied violin with Corey for six years. She loved learning from him. I think Corey has a wonderful ability to nurture the love of making music. His teaching style is kind and patient. And he makes it fun. I would highly recommend him!

We signed up our 10-year-old son for online lessons with Daniel when in-person lessons became challenging during the pandemic. We were not sure how effective the lessons would be, but we were excited about finding a teacher with musical interests that aligned with our son's (rock and up-tempo bluegrass).

Five lessons in, we are thrilled about the choice we made. Daniel has a great rapport with our son and has worked to really "get" him. Daniel has the kind of focus on bowing techniques that we were never able to get from a local violin teacher. He is also in touch between lessons, sending materials to help our fiddler develop specific skills. And he models the kind of enthusiasm for music that we want for our son.

We'll know more at the one-year mark than at the five-lesson mark, but right now we are really pleased with Daniel and recommend him very highly.

"I have taken lessons with Jessica my junior and senior years of high school.
I am most grateful that Jessica has helped me become more confident in my playing. She truly understands the cello and cellists in holistic ways, examining a student's playing through body language, patterns of playing, sound, and vocal interactions. Her musical knowledge is vast. Jessica is experienced in the piano, violin, cello and has arranged music. She has worked with various quartets and age groups. She has exercises that are perfect for any level of experience, whether it is beginner fifth graders or advanced high school seniors. Lessons with Jessica are fulfilling, fun, and challenging. She will push a student past what his perceived limits are because she knows his potential. I strongly recommend taking lessons with Jessica if you're a cellist looking to advance your skill and musicianship."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
