I have studied music theory with several and world class musicians including Mike Longo, Walter Bishop Jr. Warn Marsh.
We work on sight reading, ear training, and theory.
I have an easy style and like my students to enjoy their lessons.

About Cory
So you want to play an instrument? Well I have taught for over 40 years and have developed special programs for you on piano, guitar, bass, voice and other instruments for you to learn. From easy beginner to the most advanced, I will help you to learn the songs you love! Whether we use the most modern technology in my professional recording studio or just some chords or perhaps learning to sight read something for a talent show, I can take you all the way to the highest performance level. Your goals are my goals.
I have studied with some of the most famous teachers in the world, including Charlie Parker's pianist Walter Bishop Jr. and Dizzy Gillespie's musical director Mike Longo, among many others.
I also have the experience of over 400 gigs a year to bring to your lesson. I have performed on piano, guitar and bass and voca
ls with famous stars and some really great bands which will help me answer many of your questions. I am currently still working, teaching and recording all the time. I also have a professional recording studio in my home which you can take full advantage of.

*** Lesson Details ***
I want you to have fun learning and can help you with understanding and memorizing your songs.
I focus on sight-reading, ear training (like jamming and playing blues) and theory. You get to choose the areas you would like to learn.
Once we have established the basics including melody and chords, we will pick songs you want to learn to play with your friends or just by yourself. We can use music books or go on YouTube to learn your songs.
I have helped students with auditions as well as performances. After only a few lessons you will hear and see things differently than ever before.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio comes complete with acoustic and electric keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass and amps to play through, as well as professional microphones for recording. I use ProTools for recording which is used in every major studio around the world and it's loaded with great software for demos or mastering songs.

*** Specialties ***
I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced students.
I teach all styles of music including Classical, Jazz, and Rock/Pop/Blues.
I also teach songwriting, performing and recording in my ProTools studio.

My students also perform regularly throughout the community and are successful in their musical endeavors at all ages. I teach a wide range of genres and styles from classical music, blues, jazz and rock to heavy metal with an emphasis on becoming A-Level lead guitar soloists and song writers. I can teach students theory, harmony, ear training, based on my education through Berklee School of Music.

About Chase
I started playing guitar when I was in the 8th grade. At that time I was into punk, and as I got older I moved into listening to classic rock, then blues, then all sorts of jazz and jam bands, and now classical and sacred art. And my playing of the guitar has following the same trajectory: I played in the style I listened to. One common thread through all of this has been an, at first unconscious, but now fully conscious focus on the art of improvisation.

Improvisation is central in my own playing, and what I deliberately bring my students to do. And this is not something vainly individualistic. Franz Liszt, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Chopin; Coltrane, Miles; Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan; Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Clapton; SRV, Albert King, BB King: what do all of these musicians have in common? They improvised, and were very good at
it in their respective genres. Improvisation is a truly important aspect of playing music, and one which I will give due focus to. Besides this, I will teach the student technique, chords, scales, songs (chosen by both the student and, at times, myself), and later on: theory (including harmony and ear training).

I have a Master's Certificate in Theory, Harmony and Ear Training from Berklee College of Music's online extension.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my 'about me' section I have laid out in a general fashion what I will teach you.

I am very patient with my students. I focus on the qualities of effortless action, patience, contentment with our current abilities while striving to attain (eventual) mastery.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide an acoustic guitar, a tuner, picks, and sheet music. I expect the student to have a guitar, a tuner, extra strings, and picks.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in modal improvisation. I also can teach some art philosophy and philosophy related to art.

Chase and I did not work together long because of other commitments. However, in the short time we did work together I learned a lot. Chase is easy going, highly skilled, very patient, and his teaching style is such that it fosters student confidence. I was really nervous at first, because I wasn't sure what to expect. Chase quickly made me feel at ease during the lesson. We only had half hour lessons, but that was definitely enough time to learn new materiel and make progress. I highly recommend him for guitar lessons.

An Excellent Teacher!

Our daughter Charis has taken lessons from Chase for over 2 years. From the first lesson, his patient demeanor put her completely at ease. During that time we have seen her understanding of music and her love for guitar continue to grow.

Chase has a unique way of challenging his students to stretch in their ability while simultaneously making it a great deal of fun. I would absolutely recommend him to both the new and seasoned student alike.

Excellent teacher!

Josh gave me lessons for a period of time in 2010 and really helped me learn the basics of guitar. One of the best parts about lessons with Josh is his strong grasp of music. He not only knows how to play multiple instruments but he has a strong understanding of music theory. While learning to play guitar he helped teach me the basics of music which made a better musician.

He's smart and a fantastic teacher and I had a great time taking lessons with him.

Michelle does a great job with my 6 year old son. He has been getting weekly lessons for over a year now, and is making a lot of progress. He also enjoys the lessons enough to look forward to them. I was worried he would lose interest, but so far that is not the case. Michelle makes it fun and provides small rewards and lots of encouragement. I wanted to expose my son to the experience and enjoyment that comes with learning to play music, and Michelle has made that possible.

It is essential to understand the building block of music in order to be able see, hear and communicate its meaning.

About Leni
BA in Music, composition and conducting from Hunter College (City University of New York)
Diploma from the Conservatoire de Fontainebleau, France
Studied with Louise Talma, Jacques Louis Monod, Nadia Boulanger

Lessons are about learning to make music, not endless scales and arpeggios which so often lead to pain and injury. Tone production, sight reading, and age appropriate theory and interpretation are strong elements from the beginning.

An overwhelming percentage of young, enthusiastic and talented children are discouraged early and give up the piano because they do not make rapid progress and therefore do not enjoy their lessons. Music is one of life's great joys. It should be fun. For the intermediate, and even the advanced, student, it is critical that much more attention be paid to the musicality of the playing and the u
nderstanding of the music. This leads to more beautiful playing and greater enjoyment.

I can honestly say that Leni is one of the most professional and intelligent music instructors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I have a background in music (low brass) from the 6th grade all the way through college. While I no longer play any brass instruments, I am currently taking drum lessons, and felt that now would also be the best time to try my hand (no pun intended) at piano. I am very happy with the lessons that Leni gave, however, I eventually came to the realization that the piano would be too much of a time constraint for me. I was not 100% committed to the piano due to working an 8-5 job every day, as well as taking the drum lessons I was already taking prior to starting piano. Also, it didn't help that I did not have a piano to practice with. With that being said, if I ever find myself with the time/capability to commit myself to the piano the way I wanted to, then I will be contacting Leni for more lessons. There are many piano teachers out there, but if you want to learn the CORRECT way so that you will not hurt your hands/fingers, then Leni is the absolute best choice. Thanks for everything Leni!

About Scarlet
Hello! My name is Scarlet. I have been playing guitar for 7 years. I currently attend the UNLV School of Music. I am studying to become a Music Teacher! In college, I have been taking lessons with a master and performer of the classical guitar for over 3 years. My degree requires that I learn all the orchestral and marching band instruments, as well as how to sing and play piano. Advanced ear-training and music theory are required of all music majors. I have finished these classes. As an aspiring teacher, I am educated on how to work with students with special needs. I am also educated on how to work with students from diverse backgrounds. I can adapt my lessons to meet you or your child's needs.

In high school, I started learning how to read music, music theory and, of course, how to play guitar! After school, I would spend hours upo
n hours singing and accompanying myself to my favorite songs. I loved that feeling so much that I decided to become a music teacher.

Classical guitar is my specialty, but I am open and excited to teach other genres of music. At this time, I do not offer electric guitar lessons. I encourage you to learn finger-style before you move on to electric guitar. You will be able to transfer what you learn with me onto the electric guitar.

Students will learn how to: sing and read music, place notes on the fretboard, how to build (advanced) chords, how to play pieces, use proper technique, develop a knowledge for (advanced) MUSIC THEORY and more! I will customize lessons for your pace. No experience is needed. I look forward to our lessons.
