Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.

He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.

About Trevor
My name is Trevor Murphy. I am 24 years old and have been teaching music lessons for 4 years. I completed my Bachelor’s of Music – Jazz Studies from San Jose State University in 2017. I have been a member of the International Society of Bassists since 2012 and achieved my Eagle Scout Rank in 2011. I have 14 years of performance experience and specialize in Double Bass Performance and Music Theory as my main focuses. I also offer lessons in guitar, piano, trumpet, electric bass, and upright bass. I enjoy working with motivated students of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about music and want to develop a great work ethic and sense of self-discipline, while having fun in what they do. It’s more than just music – It’s about combining what’s in your heart with what’s on the page and truly expressing the music. Additionally, I will
go into detail on the secrets of overcoming fear and performance anxiety when playing for audiences. The inner game of music is about overcoming self-limiting beliefs. Become brilliant. Become fearless. Become the most confident version of yourself through music. Learn a higher level of musicianship and book with me today!

After we got through the maze of takelessons website ( a real issue that needs to be resolved. How can you know if a teacher is right for you without communicating with them Takelessons?) we were able to discuss what my interests and goals were. Trevor understood I was new to double bass, but had some experience on electric bass and was able to put together a lesson plan that helped me progress rapidly while still keeping the lessons interesting and fun.
I asked Trevor to help me with bowing, classical and Jazz improv. Each lesson contained time for each and I was sent home with practice pieces on each of the disciplines. My zeal for learning "everything" may have been a bit unrealistic, but Trevor made sure to spend time with me on each area and worked on correcting anything he saw come up that was not correct form.
Trevor has an easy going style, but shows a great love for music.

About Sarah
Hello future students, my name is Sarah and I am honored you chose to look at my profile, finding the right teacher is so important! I graduated from Lees-McRae College in May 2017 with her BFA musical theater and minor in art and design. I was training american sign language at Northern Virginia Community College back in 2012, and I furthered my knowledge by working under and ASL master in 2015.
I try to not charge too high for lessons, I know that this is something that is for fun and is not always a possibility so I try to keep it at a lowish price so that everyone has a chance to learn. I am very flexible to schedules. I am willing to have a regular time or switching it up weekly; I have students who travel for a living so they are always on a different time zone; no matter the obstacle I will make it work for you!

Something that i
s great to know about me is that I never stop training, pursuing growth and knowledge. I read books in these various fields to learn more and more, take master classes, and train with my own vocal coaches. I think art - on any platform, is a great way to get out of your head, free your mind, and open up yourself. So this can be for professional training, a hobby you always wanted to pursue, or a dream you wanted to chase after.
In my class with you, or you child, I will make an individualized lesson plan that focus around what skills you already have, what skills you aim to improve/gain, and how you learn. I am very familiar with the fact that we are ALL different, which means we will all learn DIFFERENTLY. I am willing to explain something in as many ways as one needs in order to understand. I like to think of my lessons as a “safe place” to explore, have fun, grow, and be okay with making mistakes. We will always start with the basics, understand the core of the craft - for example in singing that would be our vocal anatomy and how it all connects together. I use props to help make the concept more visual and graspable as well as diagrams. This is not something someone will pick up in one lesson, so don’t come in saying “I can’t”, you can, you just have to learn HOW. I will show you the how. Remember, this is a learning process, we must embrace each step of our growth.
-----
Some background of how I came to do what I do:
I have been working professionally for theatres for five years now; which has had me living in various towns in NC, OH, AR, and traveling nationwide for tours. I have a lot of experience under my belt for my years. I began taking performance classes as young as age 2 when I started ballet, then I began singing in choir in third grade. I started being in awe of sign language when I saw an interpreter working her magic around age ten and I asked my mom for a sign language book. Expanding my knowledge is what I do for fun, so when you pick me you pick someone who is constantly growing and learning more which will ultimately benefit the student.
I teach a variety of classes that, for the most part, circle around the arts! Some of my classes include but are not limited to: Acting, Child Acting, Improv Audition Prep, Various styles of “Singing” classes, Ear Training, Musical Theatre, Music Performance, Various “Art” classes, Facial Exercises (Which is great for singers, and those who speak a lot day to day to help relieve tension in the face), and more!
For an explanation on each class, I will be recording a video that describes them and posting that on here soon! There is a video trailer of me singing and dancing that is currently available. If you want to know anything more at all please do not hesitate to send me a message and I will respond as quickly as I possibly can!

About Rush
I'm hoping to get to work with students who want to dive right into mastering their camera and all it has to offer, whether we're shooting on film or digital, both of which I can offer instruction in. Learning to be in absolute control of your camera and how your settings will affect your photos is key to creating your images & making sure they come out exactly the way you envision them. Our time together will be a full immersion into light-writing. Over the years, I have had approximately 4 years of cumulative formal instruction on the subject, and have been freelancing since 2011, for events such as weddings, anniversaries, baby/bridal showers, graduation and engagement photos, live concerts, and just about anything else you can think of. Previously a Photography student of Daytona State College in Florida, I made the move up to Chicago
in 2015, and am currently studying at Harold Washington College. In the spring I will graduate with my Art Studio AFA. I genuinely look forward to any time spent with someone with a desire to hone their craft, and hope to bring more inspiration to those wanting to bring forth their vision. Aside from photography, I also teach a handful of other subjects that you or someone else may be interested in!
