Guitar is an essential instrument for understanding how music works. Plus, with knowledge of just a few chords, you'll be able to write your own songs!

About Kyle
Having been a musician his whole life, and a bassist since the time he was 15 years old, Kyle elected to attend Berklee College of Music on partial scholarship after graduating high school. This allowed him the opportunity to study with the likes of Whit Browne and Anthony Vitti. Summer breaks from school allowed Kyle to complete professional contracts as a working bass player, including playing in Hersheypark’s “Frontier Frenzy” (2010), Holland America Cruiseline’s “The Neptunes” (2011), and Boston’s “The Honeymooners” (2012). After graduating Berklee Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education (December 2012), Kyle decided to move from his childhood home in Connecticut to Nashville, TN to further his career as a bassist and teacher.
Once he arrived in Nashville, he was immediately picked up by the Ashley Buchart Band as their tour
ing bass player. While touring full-‐time with Ashley, he also filled his days “off” by playing gigs with artists such as Stephanie Quayle, Jake Clayton, Nick Cross, and Shannon Selig. He is currently using his extensive professional playing experience as a tool to teach meaningful life and playing lessons to his pupils in the Nashville area!

My main teaching philosophy is to always have the underlying fundamentals in mind. Of course, whenever I start a new subject with my students, it is in an effort to better their playing and move them towards their goals. But while doing so, the fundamentals must always be there. After all, the busiest professional players have the best fundamental technique, precision, and musicality! Overall, though, music makes people happy because it is fun, and I never overlook the importance of that fact!

*** Lesson Details ***
The first thing I like to hear from students is what their goals are while taking lessons. Do you want to become a professional musician? Do you want to be able to play with your friends in a band? Are you looking to perform at your local church with a group of musicians? These student-specific goals will help to drive what we will work on during your lessons. Together, we can reach your goals!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide my own bass/guitar, amplifier, cables, etc. I will also have a pencil and paper, and manuscript paper. I expect the student to have their own amplifier (if necessary) and bass/guitar. They should also have pencils, paper, and manuscript paper.

*** Specialties ***
My lessons center around getting a student prepared to play professionally. I believe that the best way to play professionally is to be as well-rounded as possible. So, my lessons target a wide variety of music styles and technical abilities on the bass/guitar, all while having fun!

Kyle is a great bass teacher. He always made sure that I understood the material and what I was supposed to practice during the week. I progressed more with Kyle than with either of my prior 2 teachers. He also always has a smile on his face! Take lessons from Kyle!

Kyle was great!

I just took my first guitar lesson with Kyle and he was awesome. Very patient, even when I got frustrated with myself. He taught me how to solo on the blues during my very first lesson and got me using a pick for the very first time. Kyle's lesson was engaging and enjoyable.

Excellent teacher!

Josh gave me lessons for a period of time in 2010 and really helped me learn the basics of guitar. One of the best parts about lessons with Josh is his strong grasp of music. He not only knows how to play multiple instruments but he has a strong understanding of music theory. While learning to play guitar he helped teach me the basics of music which made a better musician.

He's smart and a fantastic teacher and I had a great time taking lessons with him.

GC is great at gauging where the student is at musically and what it will take to push them to the next level. I highly recommend this guy.

GC was a great teacher! He was perfect for what I needed. Specifically, GC has met me where I am in terms of my skills and experience. I am a more advanced student than GC typically gets. Instead of teaching me exercises and songs segments, which I have done with other teachers, he focused on developing my musicality and improvisation concepts! I love working with GC!

I've been a guitarist since I was eight, an arts tutor since I was 17, and now I'm a professional live musician for several artists signed/affiliated with major record labels. I also self-record my own pop music and gig around Seattle. I teach all ages and a variety of styles--classical, rock, pop, acoustic, bossa nova. I will help train your ear to tap into your body's natural musicality by using a variety of media and exercises. Being a good musician takes time and work, but art is an emotional expression--so we must have fun, no matter what!

About Jake
I'm a contracted studio and touring musician for a major Seattle record label (Barsuk) who has 8 years of experience tutoring the arts to all ages. I’ve played hundreds of shows, and my guitar and bass playing appears on a handful of albums. Since 2009, I've been a part-time K-12 arts tutor with a nonprofit called 826 National. I've taught lots of kids, big and small, the ropes of the fretboard, the chord books, and the fundamentals of rhythm, melody, and musical hearing. I studied theatre and classical guitar at Whitman College, so I can help you improve your technical playing and performative abilities too.

As of May 2017, I'm new to TakeLessons/charging money for teaching privately, so please know how much I appreciate your patronage and audience. I know the importance of a patient, encouraging, knowledgeable teacher when learning t
he arts, and I think I can help you find strength in self-musical expression. Every person is different and every student learns differently; I think the best tutors can be flexible to their students' needs and be able to provide alternative learning solutions when roadblocks appear. We will communicate well with each other about learning goals and tactics, and we will have a LOT of fun on the guitar together! By the end of 5 lessons, I'll help you be more confident and/or versed in your guitar playing, and we'll only have lots more to learn and explore!

I have been teaching guitar, full time, professionally, for over 10 years. Even if you think you're one of those people that "just doesn't get it" you will, and I can help. From teaching beginners their first chords, to taking advanced players to the next level of chops and understanding, I've been there. Let's rock!

About Gavin
Teaching guitar, and music for over 13 years, 10+ years of that time spent in professional music schools and shops. In addition, I spent 6 years in a special needs school, teaching general music, and guitar to students with learning and behavior issues.
I have had the pleasure of learning from numerous guitar teachers and mentors over the years including, T.T. Quick guitarist, David Dipietro.
Recently having toured the US with national acts in the band McClinton, sharing stages with Saving Abel, Adelita's Way, Framing Hanley, Red, Winger, Steelheart, Bad Seed Rising, LA Guns and many more. I'm proud to say that I have taken the skills I've honed during those years to stages and studios around the country.
I can help you make sense of concepts that many students find confusing. Focusing on the goals the Students wishes to achieve. Ultim
ately, I teach a student to be able to progress independently. Learning songs is fine, and a great way to get motivated, but in the end it's about learning the concepts that allow the student to learn those songs on his/her own and be able to use those elements create their own music.
I teach all styles, and levels.
I am currently unable to offer lessons at my home studio, but still provide lessons on Skype or in your home.
Also offering lessons for Bass guitar.

Billy is the absolute best! Transcribing rhythms and ear training analysis have always been my weaknesses when it comes to music theory knowledge and finding the right exercises and techniques to improve has always been quite a difficult process to achieve. However, within just a few tutoring lessons from Billy, I started to build a better understanding of music theory as a whole. In every tutoring lesson, Billy was patient, knowledgeable and friendly which quickly benefited my musicality and strengthened my overall friendship and love with music. Thank you Billy!
