I've been teaching piano now for 15 years. My goal is for the student to learn to play by feel in addition to reading music. A standard lesson would consist of some playing in books and going over some music theory followed by playing by feel. This would include blues, jazz, and rock grooves. My approach is creative and customized to the prospective student. The student needs to enjoy learning the piano. A happy student is a successful one.
About Paul
I am a musician who has played in many bands. My primary instrument is piano and voice. I also play rhythm guitar. My current group is a "Who" tribute band, performing a complete history of the rock group, The Who. Please check out our website magicbustour.com I play by ear but also read music.

I have been teaching piano in the Seattle area for close to ten years. I have worked with young beginners to intermediate and some advanced students. My methods are eclectic and I often draw from the Kodaly Method for beginners. I encourage my students to sing along while they play to reinforce learning, accessing multiple neural pathways.
I teach my students to read music and play with feeling and heart. I instill a love of music in my students by creating musical moments in them and expose them to a wide variety of genres and styles. Students will learn basic technique, theory, improvisation, and performance etiquette, all while having fun!

I have a relaxed teaching style that breaks down the basics of the piano and makes lessons fun.
It can all seem so daunting, but it's really all about three things: notes, fingers & timing. Once you know those you're on your way, and what you know you'll never forget.

Farobag Cooper excels with the student who has played the piano over a period of years. Fingering, for example, is adjusted to fit the player's hands rather than the proscribved notations of the publisher. Interpretation is noted and practiced at every moment of the composition often by the instructor then followed by the student. Perhaps what sets Farobag apart is his manner of conducting as one performs. It is a feeling like being in an orchestra with one's personal conductor. But first mastery of score. Then interpretation. Voila! Music."
