Lessons with me are like playing a video game that trains you to be good at music. Seriously. Every exercise we do will generate a score, and you can practice between lessons in order to “beat your high score” during the next one. Ask me anything!

Everyone learns differently and I try to make each lesson fit their needs. I find what goals you have and make a lesson plan specific to you. I have 10+ years of experience teaching ages 5-80. I have learned that no student is alike. At the end of the lesson I want everyone to have fun while learning.

Guitar is my primary instrument and I can teach it in a variety of styles and with a variety of techniques. I'm comfortable playing with a pick or my fingers and playing in genres from blues to rock to jazz.

I also teach various forms of slide guitar:
Slide (Bottleneck) for the standard guitar, Lap-style Dobro (Open G Tuning), Lap Steel Non-Pedal 6 String Electric Guitar (C6 Tuning), and 10 String Pedal Steel Guitar (E9 Tuning).

I am a recent Berklee College of Music graduate living in Chicago. At Berklee, I was the first rock/metal guitarist to receive the "Jimi Hendrix Award." This award is given to the best guitarist at the school. I've played and studied many styles of music ranging from classical, traditional, blues, country, rock, and metal.
Besides teaching, I have a passion for songwriting and performance. Here in Chicago, I am currently playing with various bands and writing my own music. My teaching style is very "goal-oriented," and I will teach students to set short-term goals, medium goals, and then demonstrate to them how reaching the short and medium-term goals leads to accomplishing long-term goals. I envision teaching much like my teachings at Berklee where once my lesson was finished, I only wanted to go home and learn more. If you want to learn multiple styles from someone who is truly passionate about the instrument, I'm your guy!
