I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I studied professionally for over 10 years with renown soprano and voice teacher Sylvia Jensen, who was instrumental in the enhancement of my vocal knowledge and technique. She is now the Director of Education for the Miss Ohio pageants of the Miss America competitions, elevating many young ladies to the national spotlight. At age 14, I auditioned for, and was added to cast of a
network television variety program, "The Gene Carroll Show", that was a television institution for over 30 years in the Midwest. I was a featured performer on that program for over 7 years, all the while perfecting the art of "playing to a camera." This experience was invaluable, and the knowledge I gathered is now included in my curriculum. I also began performing a solo act in the nightclub circuit at the age of 15, performing up and down the "north coast" from Cleveland, OH, (my home), to Erie. PA. At a very young age, I learned the difficult art of choosing musical material and pacing a show; also adapting to performing under a myriad of conditions with a vast array of musical accompaniment. After graduating college with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing, I assembled my own band, and took to the road. That experience eventually brought the act to Las Vegas in 1982. Over the years my show has been a staple in major casino cabarets in Las Vegas, and all over Nevada. Since my first engagement at The Landmark Hotel in the early 1980's, I have literally been up and down the famed Las Vegas Strip many times over. The Desert Inn, The Dunes, The Stardust, The Maxim, The Tropicana, New York New York, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Bally's, The Flamingo, The Imperial Palace, The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Fremont, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and a three year engagement at The Riviera. My show is truly comprised of musical variety; classics, show tunes, jazz, rock, blues, r&b, country. Even a presentation of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, that I perform in full costume. It is this ability to successfully deliver an extensive repertoire that I am enthusiastic about passing along to the next generation of entertainers.

I have been truly blessed in my career to have experienced so many highlights; too many to document. From winning an understudy roll in the Broadway Musical "Platinum" starring Hollywood actress Alexis Smith, to performing our National Anthem at events ranging from Major League Baseball to ESPN Boxing to receptions for major dignitaries, to recording 7 albums and a full-length video, to being asked to perform for Mr. Frank Sinatra at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, I have lived a full life on stage, learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge gathered along the way.
Now it is my desire to escalate my status as an educator to a more "one on one" experience; availing myself the opportunity to pass along that wealth of knowledge to individual students who aspire to enjoy the entertainment profession as I have, providing them with the skills needed to successfully compete. Or, should it be their choice not to pursue entertainment as a vocation, to gain a working understanding of all facets of their instrument so as to gain a better appreciation of music. Whatever the goal of the student, I feel that I am equipped to provide them with the tools needed to achieve that goal.

*** Lesson Details ***
Content of Sessions

Generally, the first 10-15 minutes of each lesson will be focused on vocal warm up and exercise. (For guitar students, we will review the previous
week's assignment). For Vocal Students, it is understood that the voice mechanism is made up of muscles, and as an athlete prepares for a sporting event, a singer must prepare to vocalize. It is at this time in our lesson when the student will develop good habits of voice maintenance, which will serve them well throughout their careers. The proper care and preservation of the vocal unit cannot be stressed enough, especially for pubescent and pre-pubescent students. Vocal chords in a developmental stage are most susceptible to damage, and because they are particularly sensitive, they must be handled with care. Our warm up regimen is designed to strengthen as well as preserve the singing voice.

I am not an advocate of getting too involved and "bogged down" in the technical aspects of singing, especially with the young students, and
especially early in our program. This is not to say that breath control, tonality, pitch, etc. are not vital to good singing, because these workings are ESSENTIAL, and their application will certainly be incorporated into our studies. Some instructors, on occasion, have a tendency to lose sight of the fact that much to do with singing happens "naturally", and too much focus on the "technical" can actually be inhibiting. This can alter a beautiful, natural tone into one that is unnatural and contrived.

I adhere to the philosophy that above all else, SINGERS WANT TO SING SONGS, and musicians-in-training want to play music. That is our focus, and all of our training is conceived with that objective in mind. All the technical knowledge and coaching serves no purpose without practical application. It is my belief that the most significant progress occurs when a vocalist is singing a song.

Nearly every element of instruction can be utilized in the performance of one song. This is why the majority of our session time will be spent "in song". For the very young student, we will concentrate our efforts with the students choices of favorite and familiar songs. The older students will undoubtedly have favorite songs, styles and artists. Special attention will be paid to the genre most enjoyed by the student, but diversity will be emphasized as well, and a variety of genres will be unpacked and explored. I believe that whatever a student's musical goals and aspirations, it is in their best interest to gain knowledge and insight in all facets of music, singing, and performance.

The most vital pre-requisite for any student is their enthusiasm. My ambition will be to harness that enthusiasm and channel it productively through stimulating instruction. Our sessions will be informative and educational, but always predicated upon "having fun with music".

I am proud to feature a curriculum that emphasizes the entertainment aspect of singing as well as the technical; created to benefit all ages and experience levels, from beginner to seasoned professional. After just weeks of my "Triple Threat Training" a student will begin to see astounding results: vocally, musically, and in the art of performance. I am excited to share my knowledge with you. My studio is equipped with a full vocal sound system with microphones that I utilize to teach the valuable art of mic technique. Young students enjoy using the mics and hearing themselves sing and perform. Since our lessons are predicated on enjoying the art of singing, this opportunity has proven invaluable. For the advanced performer, studying all aspects of amplification and what a singer should know about their stage sound is a part of our educational curriculum. My studio is furnished with the equipment that is essential to mastering that knowledge.
Since the practical aspect of my course is based on singing songs, I provide all the latest technology required to allow my students the opportunity to sing the songs of their choosing, with and without the lead vocal tracks. I feel that when students are singing their favorite songs, it offers me the greatest teaching opportunities. I make certain the every musical genre can be represented, and feel I have the knowledge and ability to guide the student is whatever their musical tastes. My studio is also equipped with piano (for vocal exercises), and guitars, which gives me opportunity to accompany my students when the musical moment is appropriate. Hello! After earning my Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice from Hunter College in 2011, I have been working successfully as a singer, voice coach, and academic tutor. As a singer, over the past 8 years I have performed at professional theaters across the country, including Off-Broadway and at the world-renown Carnegie Hall. I specialize in musical theatre, but have a thorough classical technique, as well as strong pop/rock/belt training.

We practiced the new cadence for example of the deceptive cadence, the plagal cadence, and the phrygian. we learnt the basic root progression. a standard method of connecting triads with roots a fifth apart is to hold the common tone in the same voice and move all the other parts to the closest possible chord number. We learn about mediant triads s well.some ways using cadence that I can expand my harmonization practice is in general, when tempted to part write or analyze a chord in common-practice music as iii (in major), give the context further thought. i imagine with this knowledge it ill help me to compose a better harmonize song.
We practice together the scale degrees that are designated by Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), chor ds are similarly designated by Roman numerals (I, II, III). For example, in the key of C major the notes are C,D,E,F,G,A,B and we have designated them as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. However, when we consider the triad chords in the key of C we have Cmaj, Dm, Em, Fmaj, Gmaj, Am, Bdim. These are designated I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII. When speaking about these chords, for instance in the key of C major, we would call Gmaj the five chord, Dm the two chord,

The easiest way to find an interval's name is to first, count all the pitch names present, including the notes themselves (ignore sharps and flats at this point). Then, find out (had it been missing a flat or sharp) what type of interval it would be, depending on whether it is perfect (a 1,4,5,8) or major (2,6,7). If there are no sharps or flats, you are done. If there are, figure out if the flat or sharp decreases or increases the distance between the two pitches. If it increases the distance, the interval is augmented. If it decreases the distance, and the interval would otherwise be perfect, it is diminished. If it decreases the distance and the interval would otherwise be major, it is min that is what I learnt

Mariana was great! Very professional and able to explain the techniques in a very clear way. When I began, I was very nervous and self-conscious. She was patient and kind and never made me feel embarrassed!

She really knows her stuff and technique. I'd been to a few voice teachers before and they were great singers, but they didn't seem to have to really KNOW the techniques behind singing. Mariana clearly is a wonderful singer and has great training in what she does.

All the students on my Student YouTube channel who have studied under three years, are practicing 2 hours a week, and you will have a similar result. That's 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Students under 5 practice about 10-15 minutes a day.

Please have an assignment book that lies flat, and keep it next to your music books as you practice between lessons. My instructions are very detailed to insure your best progress.

For on-line lessons, you will need a quiet place, and please test your sound and video prior to beginning of lesson. For students under 13 or so, do have a parent or caregiver taking notes while we work together.

Rebekah is an outstanding instructor who pushed me out of my perceived limitations with singing. Rebekah was an outstanding instructor for our daughter. Our daughter was a bit difficult in the beginning putting 100% effort for the lesson. Rebekah was a wonderful teacher to me. I have grown children and always had singing lessons on my "bucket list". Keith is fantastic! He expects the highest level of preparation and performance from me at all my lessons and thus pushes me to be a better performer every time. He tailors my lessons to exactly what I need - specific work for upcoming auditions as well as more general work to expand my repertoire. His lessons are also not not limited singing coaching - he also provides coaching in acting and movement. I feel like I have presented some of my best work to auditors as a result of working with Keith! And he does all this in the friendliest manner possible so that my lessons are always a great combination of fun, hard work, and inspiration.

Keith is a knowledgeable and great teacher. He will let you feel comfortable at singing and doing all the practices and make you realize what the correct postures and things needed to make you feel confident. Also, he is pretty easy-going with scheduling and just let him know in advance and he will reschedule the class for you. Definitely recommended.

I have never studied with anyone that holds a candle to Nikolai. He has taught me a technique I can rely on no matter the circumstances, and he has always pushed me to go further than I thought possible. I consider him my mentor in acting and whether you are pursuing TV, film or theater, he is your guy.

Nikolai is the best teacher I've ever had. By far. Whether going on an audition, or prepping for a film/tv, Nikolai has given me the tools to be fully prepared and at my best. I'm able to listen, see, connect, react, and just be completely comfortable in my body while acting more than ever as a result of his teaching methods. No gimmicks, tricks, or shortcuts - you'll learn have to have full, genuine experiences in your acting. It's a wonderful thing.

This is really a thorough journey into the art and craft of acting at its best. It is engrained in one of the original contributors of acting Michael Chehkov with a contemporary interpretation. It is very difficult to find this kind of a real REAL nature of acting kind of class. True learning experience. It is so specific in its technique and due to the nature of the small class you are given full attention. I took so much away from this class, that will stay with me forever!

Sam is a graduate of University of Southern California and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (the “Fame” School). Sam has choreographed feature films, the musical production “In The Heights”, and national commercials for companies such as Nike, Almond Breeze, Canon, and Doritos. He has also choreographed music videos and live tours for artists including Todrick Hall, Mya, Cappadonna of Wu-Tang Clan and Dina Rae. About Katie Rose
Katie Rose Carnes, a Memphis native, is a graduate from The University of Alabama, with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Food and Nutrition and Human Development and Family Studies. She is excited to extend her passion and enthusiasm for dance as she begins her performance and teaching career.
Carnes has trained in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, and contemporary dance styles for 17 years. While completing her undergraduate degree for the past four years Carnes also focused heavy on choreography and dance for film. Carnes has choreographed five works while attending UA, with three of them being chosen for festivals and other performance opportunities.
Rags & Riches, a fosse inspired work, was chosen by UA Dance director, Cornelius Carter, to be showcased at The University of Alabama’s Homecoming Festivities to repr
esent the dance department. It’s a Choice, It’s a Chance, It’s a Change, a contemporary work, was selected to perform at Alabama Dance Festival (’17) and the Young Choreographers Festival in New York City (’17). Additionally, Don’t think too much, a jazz funk duet, was chosen to go on tour with the UA dance department to inner city schools in the state of Alabama to share the art of dance with the students. Furthermore, Carnes directed and choreographed two films, Beauty and A Chance in Time. Both films were selected for The University of South Florida’s Dance Shorts Film Festival (’15 & ’16), and A Chance in Time was showcased in the Dance Alabama Film Festival (’17).
August 2016, Carnes returned from her first International performance of Col/apse, at the International Collegiate Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. In fall ’15, Carnes was selected as an Undergraduate Creative Research Activity Scholar where she received a grant to pursue her dream as an artist at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
This past summer, Carnes is worked in the Live Entertainment department at Cedar Point, summer 2017. She then went on to perform on tour the Chicago Honey Bear Dancers and is now a full-time teacher with Today’s Generation Dance. In her spare time, Carnes enjoys exercising, photography, and reading nutrition blogs.

Katie Rose did a fantastic job during our private! She made sure we went through all the combos and took the time to show me where I was going wrong or what I was doing really well. She loves dance and it shows through her teaching methods and the passion she shows while dancing; would definitely take lessons from her again!

Katie Rose was punctual and did not waste time in starting the lesson. I liked her technique instruction and her ability to demonstrate as well. I would highly recommend taking lessons with Katie Rose to improve technique, or if you need choreography for a solo or group!
