I teach guitar to all levels! I want to know your favorite songs and I will help you learn to play through the music that YOU like. Guitar is fun, even though it takes a lot of practice, and every time you have a lesson I want it to make your day better.
I have played many styles of guitar on booth acoustic and electric, including classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, pop, folk, Latin, and Celtic. In my personal practice I am currently enjoying learning more about open tunings and live looping with a pedal. If you are interested in learning music theory, improvisation, and songwriting I have many of my own unique methods to help you on the road to creativity and composition as well as technical skill.
As a certified yoga teacher I also emphasize correct body posture and relaxation to help make your playing more efficient and decrease discomfort.

I have been teaching publicly and privately for over 10 years. I teach music using songs the student(s) listen to. Fundamentals are introduced using the music that you love. I studied Music Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) as well as classical guitar (IUP) and jazz guitar (IUP, Duquesne Faculty).

I've been teaching one-on-one lessons for about 25yrs, in Guitar, Bass, & Drums. Lessons are personalized & tailored to each student's needs & goals, in their own style of learning. No matter your age or ability, whether just for fun to learn a favorite song or something long term and serious, I do it all. I have a lot to share with you in all styles of music and playing. Together we can shave years off your learning curve. And if you'd like to know theory, and how to write and produce your own songs, we'll do that too! I am getting much more than just 30 or 60 minutes a week. He puts together lessons and songs of interest, that he emails to me between lessons.
Very glad to have found Mike.
I’ve tried a few online lesson services, but the weekly one on one with Mike has kept me more motivated and challenged. So for me, he is a much better fit.

As someone who knew nothing about playing/reading music of any sort, I find myself recognizing and playing a few chords and notes just after about 10 classes! All thanks to John. I agree with the other reviewer that he truly has the patience of a saint. He is very laid back and helps me learn at my own pace while enjoying myself throughout the process irrespective of how much practice I put in. Whole heartedly recommend John for learning the guitar. Thanks very much John. You are the best!"

There's an advantage learning from someone who is actually paid to perform music. Get the perspective and tricks of the trade to sound good quickly. He plays the range from rock to standard classical fare like Tarrega and Bach.
He teaches using tab and regular notation which really gets you up to speed quickly on any piece. My previous guitar teachers didn't use tab so learning anything is a slog. I've already learned Lagrima, Bach's Air, Bach's Bourree, Romanza, Recuerdos de la Alhambra and Tears in Heaven in a relatively short time.
Jesse observes your fingerings very well and makes sure you use the most efficient methods.
Flexibility of scheduling was extremely important to me since I cannot be on a regular weekly schedule. Take Lessons and Jesse's flexible schedule makes that very easy."
