About Christina
My name is Christina and I am very passionate about the vocal arts, specifically Opera. Opera was a surprise in my life that I discovered in college. It moved me to a point where I knew it was what I wanted to pursue. Though singing classically takes great patience, discipline, and perseverance, that 5 minutes on stage projecting pure vocal freedom and expression make it well worth it. The classical technique can provide a great foundation to healthy singing, which can ensure a long vocal life.
Along side opera, I believe basic knowledge in piano is extremely beneficial in improving musicality and an understanding of each piece. Piano greatly improves sight reading and ones ability to learn music quickly and efficiently. It can allow one to develop an understanding of harmony and context within each unique piece of music.
I have recent
ly started teaching and would love to help and guide those interested in music, specifically classical voice, opera, musical theater, and piano. I would love to share the great joy it brings me with others and pass down what I have learned over the years. I have completed courses in music pedagogy and education alongside my degree, and believe in shaping my lessons around each individual's learning style so that each student may continue to grow while having fun.

Grey hung in there even with all my connection problems. Then he taught me accordian information that I had been thinking about, but never knew the answer to before, because I have been out of the picture for so long. It was just the right timing from my 5 previous lessons. I am looking forward to my next lesson. I just need to get in enough practice time. My learning curve is in my hands now. Until the next lesson.
Thanks Grey

My name is Al Philipp, used to serve in ministry with Grey and what an awesome gift God has given him in music. Grey would play all kinds of music and my favorites were the old hymns and the contemporary Christian music, but when he broke out the polka music it would get your heart pumpin and your feet jumpin. Yes Grey is very good with the accordion with a great personality to go along with his teaching ability. I highly recommend Grey if you are wanting to learn this instrument.

About Luc
After drumming for almost 40 years, I feel like I've nearly done it all, having played played Rock, small and big group Jazz, Classic R&B/Soul, Fusion, Funk, Folk, Reggae/World Music, Top-40, Heavy Rock, Classic and Contemporary Country, Blues, Electronic, Theater, and Cinematic/Soundtrack music.
I was self-taught at first by listening and playing along with recordings, and then studied under Maine greats Dick Demers and Steve Grover, and attended the University of Maine-Augusta in the Jazz and Contemporary music program. During the past few years, I've also started to play the Chapman Stick, and I've increased the amount of hand percussion in his bag of tricks.
My reputation in the Maine music scene is as a solid, first-rate musician, and throughout all of this, I've appeared on many recordings. I'm now the drummer in the 80’s party/
dance band “The GE3KS” and in the original band “Goss”, with an Adult Contemporary/Alt Rock album currently being written and recorded, as well as hard rock originals with Jerry Perron, with an alum completed and slated for mastering at Abbey Road Studios over the summer and fall of 2017.
I've taught drum set in one-on-one settings since 1992, first at Spectrum Music in Lewiston and Brunswick, Maine, then at The Music Centre in Brunswick, and at The Drum Shop in Portland, as well as in my own home. I've also lectured at summer percussion camps, and authored a drum method book, "Beginning Drum Set Coordination," and published the first edition in 2004, with an updated second edition printed in 2016. In mid-2016, I re-joined the teaching staff at The Drum Shop, and shortly after joined the staff at The Midcoast School of Music, also in Portland.

Since November of 2016, I have been an artist endorser for Rich Sticks. Check them out; they make a fantastic quality product and they're a top-notch crew!

I have been learning music and playing music with Luc for over 30 years. He is a true student of the art and a patient and confident teacher. His depth of understanding and passion for music go far beyond just his substantial drumming, vocal and Chapman Stick talents. He is able to engage in the technical minutiae and the broad philosophical aspects of all styles. Time spent with Luc in the musical space will move you forward!

I've toured the world and lived to tell the tale!

Being on the road can be arduous and taxing, but it is the adventure of a lifetime. I've done it all, from roughing it up and down the eastern seaboard in a minivan with the Indie Rock band Busman's Holiday, to playing big stages in Botswana, South Africa, and the United Kingdom with Zimbabwean music legend Thomas Mapfumo and his band Blacks Unlimited. I even got my sea legs performing in the orchestra aboard the Island Princess and the Grand Princess cruise liners! The cruise ships sent me around the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic, through the Carribbean to Colombia, along the Panama Canal, up the coast of Mexico, and finally dodging icebergs on the Alaskan Coastline! And last but not least, I got the chance to play cutting-edge jazz at festivals in Taiwan and China.

As a friend of
mine once said, "Your horn is a magic wand. Just point it the direction you want to go, and it will take you there!" Truer words were ne'er spoken. If you want your music to take you places, studying with me is a great place to start.

Come join the music, and let's go places!

Learn Music Theory:

Hi, and thank you for your interest in learning music theory with me! Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced musician, looking for help with a music theory class, or simply interested in learning more about this topic to enhance your own musical pursuits, this is a worthwhile subject to study.

The word "theory" sounds like it describes the opposite of an artistic process, but a basic foundational understand of music theory will actually greatly benefit you artistically, removing a lot of guesswork and confusion. At a pace that works for you and based on what is most relevant to your musical goals, our lessons will cover some of the basic music concepts: notes, chords, keys, time signature & tempo, rhythm, scales, and how to read music on a staff - incorporating listening and ear training skills as well as conceptual understanding. For students already familiar with these concepts, we can branch out into more advanced ear training skills and theory knowledge including interval and chord recognition, transcription, harmonic substitutions, modal harmony, secondary dominants, harmonic analysis, songwriting, and more. However you plan to apply this knowledge, we will come up with an individual plan tailored to your goals, so you can be a comfortably confident musician!
