Everyone learns differently and I try to make each lesson fit their needs. I find what goals you have and make a lesson plan specific to you. I have 10+ years of experience teaching ages 5-80. Kevin J. has been writing, recording, and playing music for over 25 years. Music is meant to be fun and it is his goal to help others enjoy music. He has been a teacher for 11 years and has composed hundreds of songs. He is passionate about teaching his students the songs they want to learn, no matter the difficulty. He specialized in guitar, drums, and song writing. Kevin has a great way of encouraging others to keep going no matter what challenge is in front of them.
The 75 minute session is to pay for a group jam.
About Kevin
I truly enjoy teaching. I've taught in the public school classroom for 11 years. Teaching music is so so much FUN! And it should be fun for the students to learn. When I'm teaching I tell all my students that if they don't enjoy and smile about something, then we need to change something.

I cannot learn something without wanting to immediately begin sharing what I know. That's what inspired me to begin teaching, and it continues to drive me today.
My credo is, "Take fun seriously." There is a reason we say that we "play" music; it is meant to be entertaining, for the listener and the performer. I know you want to learn to play an instrument so that you have one more pleasure in your life, and not to take up a new profession. But I also assume the highest potential in my students. If something is worth learning, it's worth learning well. My goal is for people to say to each other, "There seem to be a lot of good guitarists coming out of the Madison area. What's in the water?" My bottom line: Whatever your personal objectives, it is my job to discover them and help you meet them, whether you're interested performing at the campfire or the concert hall.
If you do not live nearby, we can learn together through online chat via FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangout. I ...

Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I'm an encouraging and motivating guitar teacher with a casual relaxed approach. Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.

I have devoted much of my life to music, and through MY decades’ worth of study in the jazz vernacular and wide knowledge of music from the past hundred years, hopes to be able to impart this same enthusiasm to his listeners and students.
I am a guitarist and composer from Seattle Washington. Beginning in 1995 I studied with Seattle musicians such as John Hanberry, Ev Stern and Milo Peterson. I have led and co-lead a number of different groups in Seattle performing at local clubs, weddings and bars ranging in styles including jazz, funk, swing and old time string music. Most notably I hosted the local Thursday night jazz jam session (2015-2017) and played double bass for the ‘20s jazz and Appalachian fiddle music band Porterbelly (2012-2020). In 2020, I moved to New York City to study at NYU.

Popular Acoustic Guitar Articles from our Blog
Playing the guitar is such a fantastic experience. It’s so relieving to be on stage or in your designated practice space and just wail on your instrument. However, one of the difficulties of being a guitar player is deciding what gear is needed for live performances. We often get trapped in thinking that we must have the biggest and loudest guitar rig for shows, accompanied by a pedalboard equipped with 30+ pedals. Don’t get me wrong, there is something extremely satisfying about plugging in …
