Dennis has been a mentor and friend now for nearly 20 years. He is a knowledgeable and passionate advocate for the arts who gives his all to each student. Working with him is always challenging and fun.

Dennis Johnson is extremely passionate and knowledgable about every topic relating to acting and voiceovers. His classes are friendly, warm, funny, inviting and are always very positive. Although his classes may be challenging, he focusses on preparing his students for the real world and is passionate about putting his student's best foot forward. A few things he covers in classes are improvisation, analyzing monologues and analyzing film. He is reliable and flexible with busy schedules and makes an effort to teach life lessons as well. I feel extremely lucky to have found him and to have access to his classes and film and voice over editing skills. He is a gem.
Christine
Working with Dennis has been incredibly beneficial to my growth as an actor. His ability to dissect a scene, work through the nuances of the character, and the sub-text and communicate this on camera with techniques that set you above the amateur actor, has helped me tremendously and opened up not only opportunities but my confidence as well. Dennis approaches the actor as a whole and understands there are parts to this whole and each part—the body, the speech, the mind—is just as important as the next. I wouldn't be the actor I am today if it weren't for Dennis.

Each and every one of my lessons is tailored to the needs of the student, whether you're an absolute beginner who's never touched a guitar or you're an intermediate/advanced player who's looking to improve your shred game, I'll come up with a lesson plan for you. I cover a wide range of topics and genres, and I'm more than happy to discuss topics such as technique, music theory, song writing, improvisation, or any topic you're curious about. Not only will I teach you how to play guitar, I'll teach you how to be the most complete musician you can be.

About Joseph

I play piano and electronic keyboard. My musical background is in jazz, pop, rock, blues, and folk music. I am not a classical pianist.
When teaching piano/keyboard, I teach primarily playing by ear, and chord theory, although I do also teach the fundamentals of reading notes.
With electronic keyboards, I teach students to become familiar with and utilize the features of their keyboard; I also teach improvisation.
As with guitar, I adapt my lessons to meet the interests, attention span, and learning styles of my students.
Students tend to enjoy taking lessons with me, because I make lessons, and music, personal and enjoyable!

About Linda

I have been teaching music (guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, recorder, music theory, and classes for toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged children, and adults) for over 20 years. I am also a band/show director at the School of Rock! In addition to teaching music, I also tuto

"I first met Philppe while I was a French student taking one on one classes at DLS during a 6 month period. He was not my instructor but we crossed paths daily, as his office was next door to the classroom I used. He was always testing my skills and offering assistance where he saw necessary. At the end of my 6 month course, I continued on with more job training that allowed me an additional 40 hours of French so that it was fresh on the mind prior to arriving at my next post. Philippe was my instructor during that period, which is something I will always be grateful for. Due to my foundation in French, we did not need to cover many basics but instead created a lesson plan that involved widening my knowledge of the local culture and politics in the country of my future assignment. He taught me how to express my opinions while casually conversing in French (which has proven to be invaluable in my line of work). He challenged me to expand my vocabulary in numerous areas while incorporating more advanced, sophisticated grammar when appropriate. Philippe was a great instructor and mentor. I am grateful for the time I was able to learn from him and look forward to refreshing my skills with him in the future."

With her, it is all about using the language, which she balances well with traditional studying etc. Our sessions are largely centered around imagining scenarios and acting them out, making sure to use as much Spanish as possible. "Philippe is an incredible teacher!
He is experienced and works well in the current distance-only training environment.  He's a very personable and engaging guy, which can be quite important when you're spending hours a day with someone. :)
But what I consider to be his best trait is his ability to assess the needs of the student and adapt his approach as needed, not just to work more on the areas where the student may need more practice, but to see what is working for a student and what is not and then to be willing to completely change his pedagogy to fit that student. This pedagogical flexibility is indeed rare to find in a teacher and, to me, this is what makes Philippe truly special."
