Bachelor of Music: Music Education and Flute Performance from University of Massachusetts - Amherst
Teaches Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
I am a passionate musician and educator. I have worked for many years as a private flute instructor on both the modern and baroque flute, gaining experience teaching many age and skill levels. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the student, with an emphasis on developing tone, technique, and breathing skills. Students will also be encouraged to think about the music that they play. As a musician, I developed an interest in the field of Historical Performance over the course of my undergraduate degree. In this field, one not only studies the music of past periods, but studies its relevance to the social, political, and cultural circumstances of its time. I believe this puts me in a unique position as a music educator, as I understand the importance of teaching students to connect musical works to their historical contexts. This is a skill that will provide them with a richer understanding of all types of music, including both classical and popular, and give them ...

I have been playing saxophone for eleven years and absolutely love teaching it as much as I do performing. My goal is to inspire any student by the power of music. My lessons are relaxed, fun, and productive. I teach all ages and all ability levels on saxophone - soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone. Students will learn technical skills, repertoire, and/or a basic overview of the saxophone. I also have experience in clarinet and flute. Ultimately, I want to positively influence any and every student and create a foundation of music for them to carry for a lifetime.
I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. I will also be attending the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities for a Master of Music degree in performance as well. I hope to continue my education and pursue a Doctor of Musical

I focus on understanding students' personality, learning style and interests to create lessons that support a holistic approach to learning. I create lesson plans unique to each individual, by paying attention to who the student truly is as a person and what sparks joy in them with music. I believe learning is meant to be fun and interesting.
One example of this holistic approach, is let's say i am teaching a student who is hard on themselves when somebody points out their mistake. In this scenario, I would play the part played incorrectly again back to them, and ask the student if they can show me where I made a mistake. These teaching methods offer students a sense of respect, autonomy and support.
Lastly, I create short term and long term goals to aid in students development in their instrument. By understanding what skills a student needs to develop to reach their long term goals, I like to sit down with my students and create short term goals that will help them develop these ...

As a professional brass musician, I have been teaching brass instruments for over twelve years.
For the beginner level, I have introduced many students to their first instrument ensuring that fundamentals are in place. At the intermediate level, I have helped many students advance in competitions and seat assignments within their band program. As a collegiate educator, I have given masterclasses at universities and private lessons to music performance students preparing for auditions and solo recitals.
I have taught online lessons for over four years and have used multiple online communication platforms to teach effective lessons. My students truly enjoy the online interaction during their lessons.
I have taught a wide variety of ages - everyone from 10 years old to 76 years old. One of the great joys I have in teaching is that each student brings their own unique strengths to lessons. My goal is to raise their level of playing while always having fun.

Personally, Kenton has been generous with his knowledge of guitar, guitar theory, and has been eager to share it with me as I expand my guitar repertoire. He has an admirable desire to see others excel at their craft, and finds happiness in taking part in their journey!

If you're interested in learning drums, you've probably learned a little bit about the drums that make up a drum kit.
