I'm an experienced teacher, specializing in the beginner/intermediate guitar lessons. Ages 7+ welcome. Lessons are constructed including helpful technique strategies catered to both the student who is highly motivated to play by ear in contemporary gospel church settings and/or the student whose goal is sight-reading. The best way to learn the guitar is by learning the songs you love. As a beginner, we will start by learning the foundation to guitar playing such as hand placement and picking techniques. We will quickly jump into playing simple chords and scales, and learning the theory behind them. Before you know it, we will be playing your favorite songs and how to play solos over them.

All ages are welcome! We will definitely learn songs, but in order to truly become an amazing musician you must also focus on building strong technique. Taking lessons with me will ensure that you’ll be able to learn songs and parts by ear. No more tabs! Here’s what we’ll focus on:

I would describe my teaching style as organic and holistic. I believe student needs its own time to digest knowledge and incorporate it. Each lesson should be personalized in order to connect with the needs and goals of each student.
For me it is a pleasure to stimulate curiosity and give tools for an artistic development. I have taught music for 8 years on 1 on 1 classes as well as group workshops. I exceeded as a Core Music Tutor at Berklee College of Music, providing individual hourly tutoring sessions assisting students in the completion of coursework and projects in ear training, and harmony and arranging.

I teach all levels of guitar in the areas of rock, blues and jazz, but I really focus more on the musical skills need to play guitar in any style. These include a thorough chord vocabulary, experience playing rhythm guitar, and a complete progressive study of scales and their use in improvisation (lead guitar) starting with pentatonic scales and progressing to major scales, different forms of minor scales and modes. All scales are learned in multiple positions and the student learns to perform with them in any key. In every lesson the student and I play exercises and study materials together to make actual music from the materials being studied.
