I am interested in teaching you what you need and want to learn so that you achieve your dreams. Please note that I only take serious students who will practice at least 30 minutes every day or 35 a day 6 days a week at home. I would like you to keep a log of how much you practice. This will enable you to make progress through the curriculum as you will be a beginner for the first 3.3 years, an intermediate for the next 3.3 years, and then an advanced student for 3.3 years. I will give you assignments to do over the week, and the next week we will go over them, learn something new and get new assignments. It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert!

Dr. Maureen Spranza, is a great music teacher, my son is taking piano classes with her and I'm very grateful with her, because she always take the extra time to make sure my kid is learning, my kid loves Mrs. Maureen because she is a great teacher but also she is a great human being, she really cares about her students. And she not only plays the piano, she plays all the instruments, I hope to see my son become a great musician thanks to the dedication that Maureen puts in his classes, my kid loves his piano classes, every time after clases he came home very exited to practice what he learned and al of this if because Dr. Maureen encourage him to be better in Avery class

Dr. Spranza is one of the best piano teachers in the Bay Area. My two daughters take weekly lessons with her. She encourages them and empowers them to do their best. She teaches them both theory and practicals. They have participated in an informal recital and are now registered to take part in the MTAC Certificate of Merit program.

As parents, we see a big improvement in our daughters' piano playing skills. They even practice on their own, without us telling them to. All thanks to Dr. Spranza.

About Amanda
Amanda is a professional Pittsburgh-area flutist and private teacher. She has served as principal flutist with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic as well as second flute/piccolo with the Undercroft Opera. She has also served as a substitute flutist for the Edgewood, Westmoreland and Johnstown Symphonies. Amanda also performs with the Dolce Appassionato Trio, a chamber ensemble comprised of flute, cello, and piano. She is active as a soloist, performing in a variety of venues throughout the Pittsburgh region.

An ardent advocate of early music and historical performance, Amanda also plays the baroque flute. She has performed in masterclasses for internationally known baroque flutists Kim Pineda, Janet See, and Barthold Kuijken.

A Note From Francesca:

My official bio is listed below, but perhaps more important than the things I have done are the things that I am doing. I am now approaching my 15th year of teaching. I love to teach! I carry a minimum of 30 students, but have carried more then 80 at one time, and have never once complained. My waiting list cycles based on my performance schedule and recording schedule. If you don't see a time that works for you, feel free to reach out and see if we can find something that works, as an artist, my schedule can be quite full but also quite flexible. I love my students, I get to do what I love all day and I am sure it shows. I have a blast discovering new ways to experience music with "my kids." I call all of my students kids even though most of my studio consists of young adults. I try to have a young air in my classes at all times as it just makes the process so much more fun for everyone.

I've seen it all in through years: kids, adults, beginners and advanced students. I am personally very interested in being the most versatile musician possible and I love being able to share my knowledge with my students. We can study anything and everything from Classical Guitar to Electric Guitar Shredding; from Opera to Kelly Clarkson; from Tchaikovsky to Little Richard! I love getting students to dabble in little bits of all genres, often getting even the most skeptical student singing and playing comfortably in a matter of just a few weeks. My students will be able to read music for their favorite tunes and understand how to improvise from the start. Once you come in, you'll be hooked. You will have fun because I am having fun!

I encourage all of my students to share their favorite music with me. It affords me the opportunity to learn more about what they desire to learn and what types of music they enjoy. We will learn with your music often. After all, isn't that why you are coming to see me? I will introduce you to new sounds and styles, but will foster your love for music, and do my best to never force my music on students. I feel I learn as much from my students when I truly listen to them and their music as they do from me.

On site lessons are available for artists recording demos, rehearsing bands and setting up their own studios.

On a side note, I love seeing students at my shows! I am a full time musician and can be seen playing with my band, in my own solo project and in various choral settings. I feel obligated to share my joys and experiences-

Not many people have been blessed to sing alongside as many renowned musicians as I have - I've been lucky to be welcomed in both the commercial and classical worlds and they have both afforded me venues to use my voice and express the most vital corners of my soul. To find your purpose through art is one of the greatest gifts you can receive. And to be able to do that in front of thousands of music lovers live or over the airwaves is a surreal experience.

It'€™s funny, my classical cronies are impressed to hear my stories of packed rock gigs at the House Blues and national touring festivals like Warped Tour and my rock buddies ask to hear my stories of Disney Hall performances with the LA Phil. To be honest, Iâ'm impressed to be there too. Sometimes, I look around and think, how did I get here? How did I get lucky enough to live the dream, to find a home in music?

I've been luckier than most. I've had GREAT mentors who have always pushed me forward and shared their wisdom freely with me. Part of the classical musician's central goal is to educate. Francesca is fantastic!! By the end of our first lesson I already had a basic grasp on so many elements and was able to work my way through a couple songs! I didn’t expect that at all. Francesca is patient and intuitive, meaning that she seems to understand just what you need in a lesson and leads you right to it. I am looking forward to learning so much more!!

This is especially intended to students that know very little about music theory. We will do a lot of games to gain the experience part very well inside. The we will transport this inner knowledge to the theory and reading. We will also work using this theory with your instrument so you can relate your knowledge better.
The early music education is intended for babies and expecting mothers. We will start introducing music to their lives and use music as a tool of stimulation for their learning process.

I am a South-american violinist and violin-music teacher who loves music, dancing, arts, nature, and animals. I am a social, kind, caring, persevere and self-disciplined person.

I started teaching 9 years ago when I was studying my Bachelor'€™s degree. In my country, I was the teacher of 25 lovely children and youth, with whom I created my own violin studio. It started only with 3 students, and after 7 years we were a wonderful group that performed in different recitals, festivals and trips around our country. Together we learned about violin, classical music, popular music, folk music, singing, etc., but most importantly we learned about sensitivity, sharing, self-discipline, respect, creativity and many other personal skills that music helps us learn in such a joyful way.

In Boston, while doing my masters, I also had the oppo
rtunity to teach two children in English with new methods I was learning in my string pedagogy course. In addition, I have taught adults and elderly (70-72) to play the violin, and find their smiles and learning process more than satisfying. Finally, I was the music teacher in a kinder garden, and had students from 2 to 4 years old. I like to teach people with different ages because I learn from them and their different needs.

I have also had some few students with different abilities such as Down syndrome, Asperger's syndrome and Dwarfism. I cannot say I am an expert but I am open to learn from these students if I have a good orientation and support from the parents and specialists.

Right now, after finishing my Master'€™s degree in Boston, I am living in Chicago because my husband is studying his PhD at Northwestern University. I miss teaching and sharing my love for music with others, that is why I really want to find new students that want to join me in their musical journey.

I believe every person is talented and can learn music. I think that the best way to learn music and arts is from the experience, where the person can develop not only music and instrumental skills, but also creativity, originality, joy and love for music. These are skills that are needed to enjoy and learn music, but also to be a more sensitive and rounded person. My goal is to build a professional and positive environment where the person can develop his/her musical abilities as well as his/her personal skills. In order to achieve this goal, it it usually better to have the lessons in my own studio instead of the student's house. That way we can work with a complete music environment and the student can benefit 100% from the music experience.

I have learned in the process that regular practice and a consistent schedule encourages not only progress but great motivation. Also, I have found that a experience-based approach helps them keep motivated because the students learn much faster and gain a deeper musical intuition than with a theoretical and approach.

I think it is important to give the students the time to talk and share their thoughts about the music. I like to guide them discovering how their bodies feel more comfortable with the instrument, instead of telling them the "correct form". I like to make them clap, sing, move and feel the music before telling them how to play it. I like to introduce music theory and reading from the beginning encouraging them to use their knowledge about music.

In addition, I have found that following the literature of more traditional methods with scales and etudes, helps the students to develop completely in their instruments, with a great technical foundation. That is why I like to mix experience-based methods such as Suzuki, Kodaly and Dalcroze, with traditional books such as Essential Elements, Wolfhart, Kreutzer, etc.

I usually start with Suzuki, The Blue Book, and some personal material that I create for each student depending on their needs. After a while, I start to introduce some pieces of different parts of the world or different styles while introducing scales and etudes. This way I maintain the student's motivation and give them a broader view of music, while developing important skills for their instrument. Then, when the student is ready, I introduce more difficult pieces and solo repertoire.

For adults, I try to adapt my method to their particular goal in music, giving them both fun and the best level they want to achieve. I give them material that is adequate to their needs and also to their preferences.

I have several materials for children and adults. Music cards, music games, toys, puppets, etc.
I also have books to start our journey.However, the student will have to buy his/her own books once we start.
I own one 4/4 violin that could be rented for a tall or adult student. I also own a 3/4 violin for rent.
Smaller violins would have to be rented or bought.

I can travel to the student's house with my instrument if it is within my travel limits (5 miles) and if it is accessible via public transportation.

Cecilia is an amazing teacher. She is able to adapt your lessons to what you need. Makes things easy to understand and makes me feel comfortable with playing. I highly recommend her for other students.

This is a great class for any aspiring musician, or any student,looking to gain some basic understanding of music. Hopefully, the student will gain some appreciation of music as well. The concrete foundations of music, rhythm, melody and harmony will all be discussed in detail. I've been teaching this class for about ten years and found it helps musicians with there own performance.

My son's first 2 lessons with Katie were very positive experiences. Katie is patient and kind and very efficient with the lesson time. As a beginner, there is much to know just to get the proper sound out. When my son's tone is not quite right, she tries to problem-solve with him to ensure proper technique, use of the reed (or simply, how to correctly put the instrument together). Katie knows how to use the video screen effectively so that my son can clearly see her fingerings. She has provided him tasks to work on in between lessons and is willing to help him with his school band music. She has even offered to be available to answer questions in between lessons. This is our first experience with online lessons and it is as good an experience as it can be when not in person. We highly recommend using Katie if you are learning bassoon.

From 2013-2015 I taught group music classes through Soli Encore in Orange County, CA, in violin, guitar and K-2 creative music (Orff-based instruction with singing, xylophone, hand percussion and flutophone). The last two years of that position I managed the entire program including hiring teachers, writing curriculum, and teaching classes myself. I had also consistently held private violin, viola, and guitar students. In both violin and viola I saw my students move up chairs in their orchestras and excel in local, district and state honor orchestras. I sent students to great schools for music like Orange County School of the Arts and Ne
w England Conservatory.

As for my performance career, I have committed to always being a member of an orchestra, band or performing group of some sort because it's my passion and I endeavor to teach from personal experience. Over my last ten years in SoCal I performed with several groups including the Blackbird Music Project, Montage Orchestra and Symphony Irvine. My last year concluded my position as Principal viola of the Dana Point Symphony for four seasons. I was in two bands during my college years. With Galanis I was a part of several Western U.S. tours that took us through California, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Montana. I have had the privilege of working with artists such as violinist Anne Marie Calhoun, Jimmy Hopper, Andy Grammer and Stevie Nicks. Some of the larger productions I have been a part of include appearances on TV shows like Melrose Place and the Bachelorette, and performances for former President G.W. Bush and at the Governor's Ball for the Academy Awards.

My performance career continues to grow here on the East Coast, where I have lived since August 2015. I have been a member of the McLean Orchestra and have been added to rosters for the Alexandria Symphony, Arlington Philharmonic and Washington Sinfonietta. I currently hold a Bachelor's of Music in Viola Performance from Azusa Pacific University where I studied with Robert Becker, founder of the American String Quartet with a BM and MM in Viola Performance from Juilliard. I am now enrolled as a graduate assistant for my Master's of Music in Viola Performance at the University of Delaware.

When I'm not making music I'm running far, studying nutrition, cooking or spending time with my beloved friends and family!

It has always been my job to help my fellow peers out with their music theory or aural skills questions. Ever since my time at Illinois State University where I was convinced to become a composition major (because my professor saw how great I was in these courses), music theory and musicianship have just always come naturally to me. But I know that this is not the case for everyone. That is why I have decided to share my knowledge. All ages and skill levels are welcome, as lessons are catered to your needs.

About Kayvon
A highly-achieving pianist and composer, Kayvon has been studying music since the age of five. In addition to the piano, he is also proficient in playing percussion instruments and even more impressive is his vocal abilities. He has led multiple community theatre productions in various roles, both onstage and behind-the-scenes (i.e. music directing, accompanying, conducting the orchestra). Prior to his undergraduate studies, Kayvon was invited to perform with the top ensemble of the Illinois Music Educator’s Association District Jazz Band, the Western Illinois University Band Camp, and many other events both as a solo and/or as part of ensemble quite successfully. In addition to performing, he also has had a prominent conducting career as well. Beginning with choirs and musical theatre shows, Kayvon is now the assistant conductor of the n
ewly-formed Beverly Hills Youth Orchestra.

In his flourishing arranging and composing career, Kayvon has created arrangements for such groups as the Truman State University marching band, East Peoria Community High School band, Illinois State University Big Red Marching Machine, and the Illinois State University Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra in a combined arrangement of Eric Whitacre’s “Glow” for the sold-out holiday concert. As for composition, one of his most successful ventures was when his orchestral work "Unsung Hero" had its world premiere at Carnegie Hall in New York. In May of 2016, Kayvon graduated from Illinois State University with his Bachelor’s degree in music composition, where he studied privately with Drs. Roy Magnuson, Carl Schimmel, and Joshua Keeling. Following his studies at Illinois State University, Kayvon attended the University of California at Los Angeles to pursue his lifelong dream of film scoring. Since then, he has completed successful internships at Hans Zimmer's studio Remote Control Productions and Heitor Pereira's studio Backyard Industries. Some of his favorite film score composers include Alexandre Desplat, James Newton Howard, Thomas Newton, and Mark Isham among many others.
