Karen is a meticulous teacher. She explains lessons in an accessible manner and gives you hands on experience under her direction. She takes time to ensure the student's understanding and proficiency before progressing. She is patient and kind. She was extremely flexible in scheduling our lessons. I learned to crochet and the basics of getting started, how to read patterns, supplies needed and much more. I love that I am now proficient at my new hobby thanks to such a wonderful teacher. Thank you Karen!

AWESOME I so enjoy working with Karen! In advance of today’s lesson, we coordinated re work on a summer shawl Project. We both thought a summer shawl addressing those summer air conditioned restaurants was a good project for folks like me that travel a bunch and need take along projects. With Karen’s guidance in mind, I bought gthe yarn. Then Karen showed me 6-9 different shawls she’s made so I could pick target shawl pattern that wasn’t above my ability and appealed to me. I’m now on my way; 3+Rows in and feeling confident of noteworthy progress til next session.
Beth
Encouraging, supportive, first class instructor. I signed up for lessons after I realized the kit I bought was above my knowledge level. It's been an awesome experience. I am more confident in reading instructions and making the (pattern specified) numerous different stitches. F2F lessons is the best; its been an awesome experience. I will take more lessons from Karen - she's just that good; a real gem for "take lessons".

I've been practicing origami for over 20 years. My love of animals as a kid inspired me to learn origami so I could fold my very own paper zoo. Now, I teach students of all ages and skill levels to fold. I've also been a theatre educator for nearly a decade and I love empowering the inner artist in all of us.

I'll work with you to master the common folds and bases, learn all kinds of models, and show you how to read diagrams so you can keep folding on your own, and even try your own original designs. In addition to creating pieces of art, origami exercises hand-eye coordination and can feel as calming as meditation. After every session, you will come away with amazing paper creations!

Just by folding paper, you can create beautiful pieces of art in five, twenty-five, or one hundred and five steps, from a simple fish to a three-headed dragon. The art of Origami truly has no bounds.

I'm currently based in Arlington, VA but I often travel for my theatre work and will keep my ...

Jeff was such an amazing teacher. He came to our home and even brought the special paper with him. Our son who is 7 and his friends (8-9yrs) thoroughly enjoyed learning how to fold origami and it was a creative fun way to spend the afternoon. We hope to do it again soon.

I have taught fashion sewing in the NYC garment district for 11 years. Students ranged from teens to adults, aspiring designers, those interested in better-fitted clothes or in saving money with simple alterations. The method we use is very simple working on basic projects to increased skills as projects progress. I love sewing because it’s therapeutic and rewarding. Getting a compliment on something I’ve made is rewarding especially when followed with, “Thank you. I made it.” Sewing truly is something you can control when the world feels out of control.

When I teach classes it is so important to me that everyone completes a project no matter what. Learning a new skill takes requires willingness, a great teacher with patience and a cheerleader.

"Hans is a great woodworker! I wanted to hire him to do the trim work in my new house - but the scoundrel moved on me! I helped Hans do some work on the tiny house he built, he was very patient with me as he explained tool use and how the pieces I was working on fit together. He also built a beautiful bench for my new home that is extremely unique."
