I generally start a beginner student on the Rubank method. Once through the first book, I encourage the student to start learning how to make reeds. Once the student has developed a good embouchure, I like to provide the student reeds that I make so that we can work on breathe control, dynamics and articulation. Once through the second Rubank book, I then move the student into Barret.

Mrs. Bonnie is a wonderful Pianist and teacher. Her methods of teaching has allowed my child with short term memory deficit and ADHD be successful in her goal to play the piano. She is very passionate about her teaching, and it shows in each lesson. As a beginner in piano, she has been able to keep her interest by helping her play songs that she likes and listens to on the radio. This means a lot to my daughter. If you are looking for a piano teacher I highly recommend Mrs. Bonnie.

*Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, please note I am only accepting students for online lessons until further notice*

I have 10 years of experience teaching oboe and customize lesson plans for my students. I focus on listening, musicality, and technique. My lesson plans include a warm up geared to establish a solid daily routine, technical studies, a piece from oboe literature, and sight reading duets. I also teach reed making and recommend students learn to make their own reeds if they intend to play oboe beyond high school. I believe that good, new reeds are critical to a student’s success-both for tone and embouchure development.

About Linnea

I am a freelance oboist, reed maker, and music teacher in the Seattle area. My teaching studio is currently based in Everett. I have eight years of teaching experience and love working with students of all ages. My primary instrument is oboe, but I also have a passion for teaching beginning viol

"Dawn was great with my 10 year old son. She really took a lot of time with him. She had a lit of patience. By the end of the lesson he had learned how to do some of the fingering he had been having trouble with. He felt a lot more confident with his Instrument. I would highly recommend her to any student. In addition to the lesson, she was very easy to schedule with and fit us in at very short notice."

"Grace was on-the-dot punctual, and had me play what I could for her. Right away she locked in on my intonation, which I have been having problems with. She asked several questions, which was a good thing. She followed up with a printed list of things for me to work on. All this was done with a pleasant gentleness which has me looking forward to the next lesson."

"Rina taught my son oboe lessons for two years. She was the perfect mix of being approachable, friendly, knowledgeable, and serious about teaching oboe. When I was looking for a teacher I was especially concerned that I find someone who would go beyond teaching how to play the notes, and would get deeply into the technique - the real details of articulation and all of the performance points specific to the oboe. My son always ended lessons being motivated to practice and enjoying the experience. He also mentioned that he learned more in a single lesson with Rina than in months with other teachers. I recommend Rina as an oboe teacher without reservation."
