I generally start a beginner student on the Rubank method. Once through the first book, I encourage the student to start learning how to make reeds. Once the student has developed a good embouchure, I like to provide the student reeds that I make so that we can work on breathe control, dynamics and articulation. Once through the second Rubank book, I then move the student into Barret.

Experienced music teacher of 7 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! While clarinet is my primary instrument I have a special attachment to the trumpet. My original clarinet teacher was in fact a trumpet player and is currently a section leader for one of the United States Air Force Bands. I have also given private lessons to 4 trumpet players - some of whom have gone on to do very well at the high school level.

Effective Immediately for all students!
The coronavirus has hit us all! I am lowering my prices to help so you can continue learning.

In each lesson, I will identify immediate issues then put you on a weekly regimen to move you toward vocal balance.

I use Gary Catona’s Vocal Building technique to improve your muscular strength. After that, I will use a two-fold system of vowels (Catona) and consonant-vowel speaking combinations (Bauer) to balance your voice by training the articulators to work in tandem with your vowel placement enhancing your natural sound, support and create balanced breath pressure.

Specific to learning the Catona Method:
This is an intensive vocal work out learning the fundamentals of Gary Catona’s Vocal Building method. We will cover all mouth positions and how to execute each exercise properly. It usually takes two 1 hour lessons to get a grasp on the Basics.

*Please note I do not have to teach you the Catona method, but I highly recommend ...

Excellent 1st lesson. She was very nice, very knowledgeable, and very understanding. Explain things throughly and actually works with you. She's very organized and has a system that seems fail proof. I feel like I will definitely be making great progress and will achieve all the goals that I set out for myself plus more. I don't usually write reviews but this one was well deserved. Definitely looking forward to my next lesson and many more to come

Like many violin teachers, I love teaching the viola! It's a gorgeous instrument, and I have had the pleasure of playing viola in chamber groups, teaching many young viola students, and collaborative with violists regularly in chamber music settings. Whether you're a beginning student, are looking for a practice coach, or want help with excerpts, I can't wait to get started!

Abigail was an enthusiastic teacher who helped spread her love of the violin. She is classically trained and works on the fundamental skills a young violinist needs. Our child enjoyed her sense of humor as well.

"Our son decided to start learning drums this year and about a year behind the other kids at school. Kevin has been able to encourage him and provide the basic fundamental instruction so that he can feel confident as he will be transitioning into the school band class soon. It is quite obvious that he genuinely cares about his students and wants the best for them. We definitely recommend this guy if your looking for someone to help you get started on the path to becoming more musically inclined :)"

"We are so happy with the lessons we've received from Karen! My son is 15 and is on the Autistic spectrum, so finding someone who is patient and willing to teach a student who is not always clear with his communication could have been a real challenge. Karen has been a wonderful instructor and my son looks forward to every lesson he gets with her. His progress has been impressive and we are grateful that Karen has helped to foster the love for piano that he has now."

"An awesome Voice & Guitar Instructor!

My daughter took voice lessons with Gregory around 6 years ago but for us it's as if it was yesterday. We will never forget his amazing spirit and his incredible talent. Gregory is complety connected and immersed in his lessons. He makes his students feel special while at the same time developing their voices. The results are immediate and as a matter a fact my daughters friend which I thought to be tone deaf took a lesson and the transformation was incredible. I can not say enough about him as a person or as a teacher!
