I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.

Heather is patient and kind. She brings both technical and people skills to our practice sessions. If one of my family members or close friends asked me recommend a piano teacher, with no hesitation, I would enthusiastically reccomend Heather.

Heather was wonderful in getting me back into the piano! As an older student I was apprehensive at first, but she was very positive and made me very comfortable. She was very helpful and brought me a long way in a short period of time.

Nathan is kind and encouraging. My son is enjoying the lessons and making progress towards playing tapas and reveille. He sounds good!! Online classes are convenient to add into a busy schedule.

This is the first lesson I got to listen to of my son working with Nathan. Usually I'm not home from work. I am really impressed with how much he was able to help my son improve so quickly. I wish we had started this much sooner.

Learn fundamentals of how to play, yet allowing students to learn other styles of piano music they are interested in.
We play games and activities to help each student develop their piano potential. Currently we're playing water balloon games with rhythms, notes on the piano and staff. The students love how piano lessons can be incorporated outside.
Providing opportunities to play in the community, that produces more experience and confidence as a pianist.
Students complete tasks and musical concepts to help them succeed as a musician.
Spend time creating and composing new songs through games and activities, including Crazy Critter Composing. We make up songs about events that happen each day.

We have had a great experience with Andrew teaching our daughter piano. He works great with kids and has a wide range of teachable skills. He organizes fun events for his students that showcase their hard work. I am really pleased with our decision to enroll our daughter in his program, she has a lot of fun and has learned a lot in a short amount of time.

Hello! I have been teaching classical, jazz, rock, pop, and r & b piano lessons for 18 years. I have a Masters in Composition and and Bachelors in Sound Engineering and Piano from Texas State University, have 3 commercially released albums, and have been blessed to use these abilities in national touring performances, film and theatre. I use a unique approach to teaching piano- rather than forcing a curriculum on my students, I first assess your goals with the piano (i.e. for leisure, songwriting, to learn to play a certain piece, to play jazz improv, etc) and then develop the most efficient path to reach that goal. I make music theory digestible and keep lessons flowing, interesting, and productive. We have fun but also learn a tremendous amount in one lesson. I am honored to open the joy of piano playing to you!

Hello and pleasure to meet you! I'm a professional pianist, composer, singer, sound engineer and songwriter that has been active in the international Music Industry over the last 20 years. I graduated from Texas State University with a Masters of Music in Composition and a Bachelor's in Sound E

Kept missing class without any heads up so I had to just wait around and hope he'll show up, ignored my calls and messages to reschedule, so I had to just get a refund from TakeLessons. As a teacher he is good, but very unprofessional behavior in terms of accountability and respect for students' time.

I’m a super beginner. So far so good! He starts from the beginning and doesn’t make you feel dumb.

Evan was a great Bass teacher. I had fun every lesson and got significantly better at the instrument.

"Ms. Niki is a wonderful piano teacher! She is kind, patience and very knowledgeable. She makes learning fun yet knows when to "push" her students along. Our daughter responds well to her "non-pressured" style. She has been our daughter's piano teacher for over four years now. With Ms. Niki's guidance and loving support, our daughter can now play the piano and reads music fluently! We are pleased with our daughter's progress and would highly recommend Ms. Niki! Our daughter loves her and wouldn't want any other piano teacher!"

"My granddaughter took lessons from Barbara for 2 months, and then had to stop due to personal circumstances. During the time she was with Ms Barbara she learned a great deal and made a lot of progress. Barbara was patient and understanding and put the lessons to my 6 year old granddaughter in ways that she could understand. If our circumstances should change in the future I would definitely bring my granddaughter back to Barbara for piano lessons. Thank you Barbara - I think you helped instill a love of piano in my granddaughter!"

"Kimberley was so sweet and full of meaningful tips that strengthened my piano and songwriting skills. Her lesson was relevant and fun, I was never passionate about music theory (over the years I've taken a more free spirited approach to creating music, by ear) and somehow I was engaged and the time flew. She goes above and beyond to help her students, she is helping me find the most helpful books for my goals as well as learning material to keep me engaged. Great teacher!"

How to Play Beethoven’s "Fur Elise": One Teacher's Tips

As a musician, one of the best parts of playing music is adding your own spin to the notes and markings on the page. Here, Seattle teacher Amber A. explains her interpretation of Beethoven’s "Fur Elise", an ever-popular piece for piano students: Fur Elise, one of the most beloved piano pieces by Beethoven is often a favorite of many piano students. There are a few different performances of this piano music available on the Internet. My favorite performance is the one played by Ivo Pogorelich. …
