Whether you want to improve your reading or writing skills, or you are simply looking for a conversation partner, let me know!

About Hiromi
I am a student at Ball State University, pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in piano performance under the guidance of Dr. Robert Palmer. As a teaching assistant throughout my graduate studies, I have worked as an accompanist and taught ear training, group piano, and private piano lessons. Prior to Ball State University, I studied at the University of Kentucky and Ohio State University where I earned Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in piano performance, respectively. To expand my expertise in music, I have attended summer music festivals and conferences including Adamant Music School and “Musical Summer at the Mill” International Masterclasses & Festival in Moulin d’Ande, France. Recently, I presented my lecture recital on the music of Jean-Philippe Rameau at College Music Society regional conferences in North Dakota, Montana,

Hiromi is wonderful. This was my 13 year old son's first lesson on piano, and Hiromi tailor made the lesson to fit his level of experience. He was able to improv and experiment with the keyboard, and Hiromi guided him through perfectly, while then following up with structure. Thanks to Hiromi and a wonderful first lesson. :)

今日は and welcome to learning Japanese, I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese language and culture from the Ohio State University, and I have tutored Japanese before and it really isn't as intimidating as it looks. I've learned through many ways and I have many many resources that I will gladly share with you so you can learn on your own, whether you're a beginner or advanced, I can direct you to how to become very fluent with all my knowledge and resources combined. Also as a bonus I will teach you some kanji calligraphy if interested as well.

About Moataz
I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.

My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.

I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.

My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.

My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.

I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.

Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)

Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

Japanese is my pet subject, and I am passionate about both learning and teaching it! Whether you're about to start learning yourself or are already learning and looking for extra help, congratulations! I have been teaching Japanese for two years to a variety of students, such as college students and military preparing to be stationed in Okinawa. Teaching Japanese is a particular passion of mine, because even though I wanted to learn as a high-schooler I had to wait until my sophomore year of college to find a teacher. Japanese learning should be far more easily accessible, and that's what I'm here for! Whatever your goal is, to learn Japanese for professional purposes, private purposes, or even just to watch your favorite TV programs without subtitles, I make it my personal goal to help you achieve it. I look forward to helping you succeed with Japanese!

About Emily
Howdy! I have an undergraduate degree in Classics and an MA in ancient history, and I have been teaching/tutoring since 2009. I know first-hand how much hard work can achieve, but my experience in teaching has also taught me that the work doesn't have to be so hard when a student has experienced, dedicated help. That's what I'm here for! I have done both paid and volunteer teaching, and I have worked both for myself and for a university. I have taught a wide range of students - ADD students, injured students unable to attend normal classes, struggling students - in a variety of environments. I have experience teaching to groups and individuals; face-to-face, chat-room style, and via video conferencing. I teach language because I have a passion for it, and my goal with my students, whether they are learning a new language or furthering the
ir native English skills, is always to help them achieve their own language learning goals. I look forward to helping you achieve yours!

I am a Japanese teacher specializing in teaching intermediate and advanced levels. Although all levels are welcome, usually my students are highly motivated college students or adults who wish to study or work in Japan. I look forward to working with you!

[Academic Japanese, Business Japanese, Conversational Japanese, Japanese Writing, JLPT preparation]

About Erika
Minasan konnichiwa! My name is Erika. I was born and grew up in Saitama Pref., Japan. For those of you who don’t know where it is, Saitama is Tokyo’s neighbor to the north. The movie “Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro)” directed by Hayao Miyazaki is actually based on hills in my hometown!

I moved to San Diego, CA in 2013 after I received my first MA in Literature. I went to San Diego State University and earned my second MA in Applied Linguistics in 2015. I also earned Advanced Certificate in TESL/TEFL from SDSU, which helped me reassess my perspectives on teaching and learning. I have been teaching Japanese both in Japan and the US for almost 10 years, and currently teach at SDSU and UC San Diego Extension besides private lessons as well as business/medical translating. I always enjoy teaching and love helping my students learn new
culture!

***Lesson Details***

All levels are welcome, though many of my students are intermediate-advanced levels. I assess your proficiency level based on my experience as a teacher and a linguist. According to your learning goals, I tailor a teaching plan so it meets your needs and objectives of studying Japanese. What would you like to learn, the language itself or the culture as well? Here are the main lessons I offer to students:

- Conversational Japanese (business, academic)
- Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) preparation
- Writing support (business, academic, or personal)

Conversational Japanese lessons are aimed at improving your listening and speaking skills while working on increasing your vocabulary. We also review grammar points if necessary. This will help you pick up cultural and social cues in everyday conversation. The JLPT preparation and writing support courses are mainly for advanced students, who wish to achieve higher goals. The test is taken not only by students who want to study in Japan but also by people who want to measure their progress in Japanese. It’s very useful for you to set a learning goal, so you have direction in your studies, motivation to continue, and measurable results that you can check to review your progress.

For all lessons, I choose teaching materials that students would be interested such as Japanese News websites or short videos. If you have a textbook you’ve been working on and are going to learn with me regularly, I would make lesson plans based on it too. Basically each student receives their own lesson plans.

***PLEASE READ!!***
- 48 hours notice for cancellations and reschedule.
- If you would like to have a lesson outside of the listed hours, please let me know. I will try to accommodate your schedule.

I've been in love with the Japanese language for over 20 years now, and teaching it for at least 15. I love to make my lessons interactive, with games, white board activities, and conversation. I use a variety of methods to teach, so my students gain a well-rounded understanding of the language. Whenever appropriate, I incorporate cultural notes and information about Japanese customs and holidays.

About Patience
I have a BS in Japanese, and have traveled to Japan 3 times, including my 4-month homestay experience. I have been a tutor for several years, but previously worked in language exchange programs both at Mount Union College and at University of Pennsylvania.
When I did my Japanese homestay, I lived with a family who had limited understanding of English, so I learned very quickly and relied upon my knowledge of Japanese. Each time I've returned, I've done the same, so that I am constantly learning, practicing, and improving myself.
I have tutored adults, adolescents, and children such as my 3 year old niece. I have a wide range of resources, books, fun games and activities that I have gathered or created over the years, that make learning exciting and keep it interesting.

I am a graduate from the University of Arizona, majoring in East Asian Studies. That major included a focus on the Japanese language and culture, as well as a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. I have been studying the Japanese Language for 9 years now, and 4 of the years include a formal university-level education, 2 of them being in Japan.

I lived and studied in Saitama, Japan for 6 months, graduating from the Japanese Studies Program at Tokyo International University in the Fall of 2012.

I later worked as an ESL (English as a second language) Teacher in both Elementary and Junior High Schools; 5th-9th grade; in Japan. While I was there, I taught ESL classes as well as cultural classes. I also selected and coached 4 students in a city-wide English speech contest where 2 of my students placed 1st and 2nd in their divisions.

My career path is focused on teaching English and Japanese as second languages, as well as encouraging studying abroad during higher education.

About Jahara
Just some information on me and my language background:

I am a graduate from the University of Arizona, majoring in East Asian Studies. That major included a focus on the Japanese language and culture, as well as a Minor in Mandarin Chinese. I have been studying the Japanese Language for 9 years now, and 4 of the years include a formal university-level education, 2 of them being in Japan.

My career path is focused on teaching English and Japanese as second languages, as well as encouraging studying abroad during higher education. I have also completed a minor in Mandarin Chinese, which means I have 2 formal years of study. I also speak basic level Korean and Spanish.

I believe that language is a strong, lucrative tool in today's society. Not only does it improve one's credentials in the competitive job market; highlighting you over others; but it also allows one to expand his/her mind by making the cultures of other nations accessible. It is a social tool that enables a person to be able to work well with others in an array of environments, including multicultural.

On top of it all, learning a language is fun. I truly truly love it, and I believe that anyone who sets their mind to it, with the proper tools and resources, can do it. Whether that just be some survival phrases for your upcoming vacation (which Ive done) or you're looking to master the language. That is what I am here for. I want to be a resource for students of ALL ages, and assist and support them in their language journey.

From a teaching standpoint I believe that lessons should be interactive and fun I worked with incoming college freshman as a mentor, working with my colleagues to organize and execute fun and educational events that would encourage the students to get excited about learning. I actively created games and fun interactive activities and worksheets for my younger students in Japan. The best learning is the kind you do without realizing it.

I've been teaching Japanese since I was a teenager (am 30 years old now) and very patient. I Have helped several students reach fluency levels in Japanese over the years. If you have a goal I'll help you get there.

About Stephen
Currently looking for new students.
I teach piano, japanese, chess, go(weiqi/baduk), and meditation/self-improvement.
I am very proficient in all of the above subjects and have helped dozens of students reach their long-term goals over the years. I am also very patient and have taught children piano lessons for more than 10 years. As a learner I know how overwhelming new subject-matter could be and I tend to understand the pace that the student needs/wants to go at.
I feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I see my students improving. I also am constantly improving myself as a teacher so the lessons will only get better and the material should be easier to understand with time.
Let's master anything you want to work on, and have a lot of fun too :)
Thanks for reading!
-Stephen
