About Gabriel

I view my role as an educator to be bigger than simply training a performer. I believe in creating a complete musician--one who thinks deeply about music. I accomplish this by working on, yes, the technical aspects of playing an instrument, but also through constant listening, ear-training, theory

David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.

David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

About David

David is a successful singer/songwriter/guitarist out of Fairfax, VA. He has a bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in composition from Salisbury University, where he also studied jazz and classical guitar . In the 25 years he has been performing (20 of those professionally) and playin

I had to switch the lesson to in-home roughly 3 hours before the scheduled lesson. David was great and accommodating. He gave me a crash course on scales, which I didn't know anything about, and explained them so that I actually started to understand.

My first lesson with David was excellent! He is very patient and knowledgeable. I now have extremely high expectations for learning to play the guitar. I highly recommend him. He gave me a thorough explanation about how guitars are made made, the parts, we tuned the guitar and I am ready to groove!

Piano is the optimal instrument to learn as a first instrument. Everything is laid out in front of you, with only time and practice between you and greatness. Let me help you get there!

About Alex

I was passionate about music when I was younger, but I never had the tools to get where I wanted. Music was always a mystery to me and I got stuck learning from tabs and not stepping out of my circle of knowledge. It wasn't until I pursued music seriously that my love for the art really took off. I began voice lessons at the age of 5. I have performed on stage and won various awards throughout the years. However, my great love is in teaching, being "behind the scenes" and helping others reach their potential. With more than 22 years of experience, combined with amazing teachers, I have accumulated an array of knowledge about the voice. I can also teach you how to accompany yourself with your chosen instrument. The truth is, anyone can sing! The breath is what holds the key to unlocking the amazing potential of your voice, and with practice, you can allow the voice to express your own unique individuality. All voices are different and beautiful, and it is the job of a voice teacher to help you reveal to you your own voice through proper technique, getting in touch with your body, and with "allowing" your voice to shine. There is a special voice/breath technique that was shown to me by one of my teachers, Martha Howe, an international opera singer and professor. She showed me ...

5 Hard Songs to Sing - and the Exercises to Master Them

Ask any experienced vocalist for a list of what they consider to be hard songs to sing, and they can probably provide you with five or six examples without much thought.  However, there are as many examples as there are different voices, and every individual singer will have individual vocal hurdles to overcome with their repertoire. On the other hand, it is possible to identify a few examples across a few genres where a majority will agree that, yes, those are hard songs to sing. Here are fiv …
