About Jordan
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile- I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals. I'm excited to announce that I'm now available to teach via Online if you're outside of my teaching radius or are seeking a more convenient alternative.

I'm a professional guitarist with a background in jazz, heavy metal, blues, classical, and bossa nova. In 2006 I graduated from the Berklee College of Music and am lead guitarist for the Atlanta band Axis of Empires.

Whether you are a beginning guitarist or a seasoned professional, I can expand and enhance your playing in any direction you choose. I look forward to getting to know you as a student and learning about what course of study will bring out not only your understanding of music but a musical style that is unique to you.

Having a long time love of all music I hav
e always enjoyed discussing music and educating others on its many aspects. As such I began teaching during summers home from Berklee and found that it was something I had a great deal of talent for. Now, with seven years of teaching experience behind me, I look forward to bringing my skills and insights to students of all ages and bring not only ability on the guitar but a greater love of music to a fresh crop of open minds!!

In addition to guitar, I am also qualified to teach voice, public speaking, dramatic acting, and all aspects of music theory, the latter of which I incorporate into all of my music lessons.

A FEW THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:

1. I am able to take lessons in your home or over Skype. I am no longer accepting lessons in my home.

2. Please only pick one teacher. I don't know why people do this but on more than one occasion I've had students come to me and say "I'm doing lessons with you and this other guy. I figure I can learn different things from both of you." You only need one teacher- if that's not me, I understand.

3. I will NOT remove you as a client on Takelessons so that I can take money under the table from you directly. Sometimes clients will say "the lessons on Takelessons are expensive- is there any way I can just pay you directly?" No, you may not. The amount you are paying is MY specified fee from which Takelessons takes a commission so paying me directly would not save you money. Furthermore, I have a binding agreement with Takelessons not to do this. If you press me on this matter I will discontinue your lessons altogether.

*** Lesson Details ***
Although I follow a specific lesson plan, its important to customize that to each student's skill level and specific needs. Thus, I will spend the first lesson evaluating where the student is in terms of overall musical awareness, existing skill on the instrument, and long term interest.

By the end of the first month, my beginning students will be able to perform basic chromatic and major scales, name the notes on the instrument, and have command of a few basic chords. With these core concepts and regular, committed practice, they will be able to learn and perform songs in a wide variety of styles after 3 to 6 months have passed.

My more advanced students will have a lesson plan customized to their specific goals and desires. In 3 to 6 months with such a student I will have them well on the path to accomplishing their long term goals, whether those be playing, composition, harmonic awareness, understanding of theory, or all of the above.

*** Studio Equipment ***
dedicated music room; cables/amps; electric & acoustic guitars; keyboard

*** Travel Equipment ***
Electric or acoustic guitar as needed.

*** Specialties ***
Having graduated from the Berklee College of Music, I follow their approach in educating the student. In this regard I teach music theory along with the physical act of playing the guitar, which serves to not only enrich the experience for the student but demonstrate how what they are learning is applied to music on the whole.

I am fluent in many genres and specialize in rock, jazz, the blues, and various fusion genres. Because music functions off of the same principles regardless of genre, I can take whatever style the student might best appreciate and structure my lesson plan around it.

Jordan is very knowledgeable and a good teacher. You can find good guitar players that will show you how to play guitar, but Jordan is much more than that and can instruct even veteran players on how to improve their play.

Great Instruction for all levels

I am in my mid-thirties and have never had any formal musical instruction until I started taking lessons with Jordan a few months ago. I was a little nervous about starting the lessons, but Jordan made me very comfortable right away. You definitely can tell he knows music inside and out. He is also very helpful about incorporating just enough music theory into each lesson, so I can expand my knowledge of theory, but not so much that I get overwhelmed. I would definitely recommend Jordan to anyone looking for a great vocal or guitar instructor.

I focus lessons highlighting any genre around technique. Cultivating one's technique establishes good habits regarding things like breath, and posture, which will help maintain a singers overall vocal health. In addition to classical repertoire I have experience working with musical theater, pop, jazz, soul, and country.

About Chelsea
Lesson Details:
As a teacher, I've had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on-one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. The best part about being a music educator is that I get to share my love of music with all of my students. With that said, whether you are a beginner who's interest has been sparked, or you have aspirations of becoming a professional musician I can help you there!

Lessons are catered to each student and are conducted in a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take risks, try new things, make mistakes, and most importantly be themselves.

I value the time I have with my students and expect each student to co
me prepared to each lesson with an open mind and willingness to work. With music, the best results come to those who put in 100% both during lessons and during individual practice time. This is key in any musical pursuit. Overall, I want lessons to be enjoyable while still maintaining a sense of progress for the student.

About Chelsea:

I have had the pleasure of working with Chelsea for the last six years at a summer music camp that is sponsored by my church in Peachtree City Georgia. Chelsea is one of our Artists-in-Residence and leads vocal workshops, coaches vocalists, performs with the praise team, and also performs solo material in her presentations. This past year she served as worship leader where she directed over 100 children (ages 5-11), teen and adult volunteers in vocal worship. Her enthusiasm for music is infectious and she brings a fresh approach to the music that is presented at each encounter. She is able to establish a rapport with students of all ages making them comfortable and engaged in the music.
During our week-long camp, Chelsea and other professional musicians present a beautiful concert for the public where classical works are performed. Chelsea treats the audience to sacred and spiritual works and has developed a devoted following of patrons who return annually to hear her perform.

I love Chelsea!!!!! She has helped widen my range and has introduced me to opera singing. That is something that I thought I could never do but she is so patient with me and has made the entire time fun!! Her home is very welcoming and relaxing; it is very conducive for learning.

Chelsea has been teaching my 14 year old grandson now for over 2 years. She is actually "gets him" where many teachers don't and she manages to bring the absolutely best out in him. She clearly loves her work and it shows so much so that after many years of playing the piano, more off than on recently, I decided to take lessons with her too. I could not be more pleased with the outcome.

About me!

I am a Westminster Choir College '11 Alum  who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. I also have my master's degree in music therapy from Drexel University. I am also a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a  Board Certified Music Therapist. During my time at school I performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center, and did music therapy work with older adults, as well as disadvantaged children and parents.

I have been teaching for over four years and now have a studio of more than 70 happy students. Teaching music is my passion, and I love seeing students grow!

I often draw upon my experience from my master's degree in music therapy, which taught me that music can have a profound effect on the human brain and upon cognitive development.  My skills as a music therapist allow me to better understand a student's cognitive strengths and areas for improvement, and to develop individualized teaching strategies which utilize student strengths.

I'm an opera singer by trade, but I absolutely love teaching musical theater. I fully believe that no matter what genre a singer wants to specialize in, a good proper technique is the thing that will get them the results they want. With my musical theater students, I focus mainly on breath and repertoire.

About Delaney
I am a conservatory trained classical singer who has been performing professionally for eight years and teaching privately for five. I'm very comfortable teaching a wide variety of genres and tailor my teaching style entirely to a student's level of experience, goals, voice type, age and musical interests. In addition to teaching vocal technique and repertoire, I am very comfortable teaching essential musical skills such as sight singing and music theory.
As a performer, I have appeared with such companies as Washington National Opera, Baltimore Concert Opera, Lyric Opera Baltimore, The Art Song Preservation Society and Peabody Opera Theater.

As a teacher, I fully believe that you don't have to want to be a professional singer in order to want voice lessons. I love teaching students who just love music and want to be better at it. Eve
n thought I'm a professional singer myself, I believe that the point should always be to enjoy singing, and whether your goal is to make money as a singer or to feel more confident doing karaoke (both real things that have brought students to me!), I want you to have fun doing it. I also want to show you that singing is a skill, and anyone can learn to do it.

*Note about my apartment: I teach lessons in my home, and I have a pet kitten. She's extremely friendly and would love nothing more than to bask in your attention, but if you'd prefer not to be around her or you are allergic, it's no problem at all. I'm happy to make sure she's kept in a different room during your lesson.

This is fun music! Learn how to do it without going losing your voice…or your friends.

About Susan
Acting – I have taught all kinds of acting, including Audition Skills, Shakespeare, Stage, Film & TV, Dramatic, Comedic, whatever. I also have quite a bit of experience performing in all those arenas. I have a relationship with one of the best management agencies in the area, so my students get fast-tracked with her.

Voice – Anyone can sing. If you want to and have always thought you couldn't, you will be delighted when I prove you wrong. Training for the voice is pretty much the same, whatever style you are interested in. Then I'll coach you in your chosen style and we'll pick songs you like.

Singing beautifully is not enough. I can't tell you how many times I heard in grad school "beautiful voices are a dime a dozen." I will teach you how to OWN the song. That's what keeps people coming back.

Speaking – Every public spe
aker I know has lost their voice at some point, but not from talking too much. It's because they don't know how to use their voice properly. Learn that, and you need never lose your voice to over-use. That's easy to teach.

Writing – I have been a professional writer and editor for over eight years, with many books, articles, posts, newsletters, etc. to my name. I use – and teach – practical grammar, not just correct grammar. I can also help you make your words more powerful.

I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too.

I studied vocal performance at both Nyack and Millersville. I've performed in numerous musicals (see acting section of profile) and have been music director for 8 shows.

About Joe
Hello! I've been singing since before I can remember and playing instruments for almost as long. I have a passion for music. Whether it's being onstage at York Little Theatre, directing the church choir in Red Lion, or paying with one of several local and regional bands, I love music and performing. There's no rush like sharing your passion with an audience, and I believe that with practice comes confidence and with confidence comes a great performer. I'll make my schedule/rates as flexible as possible to accommodate anyone who wants to learn! Let's get started!

After only two lessons, I can tell he's an awesome guy with a ton of enthusiasm for music and teaching. He definitely knows what he's doing, wants to share that with his students, and took the time to learn about my goals and history with performing. Went above and beyond by sending recordings of exercises to work on at home. So excited to keep working with him.

I had never had one-on-one singing lessons before, but Joe put me at ease immediately. He was able to pick up on my abilities within the course of the first lesson, and I appreciate how he took the time to get to know me and my singing interests.

I want YOU to be happy with the way you sound. We'll work on various genres of songs, ear training, vocal technic, and reading music. Depending on what you want to get out of lessons, we'll cater our time to most benefit your goals. I love teaching all kinds of genres, and I have a ton of experience, so I am confident that I can help you get to where you want to go!

About Bethany
I am a graduate of Piedmont College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Church Music and a Masters of Arts in Music Education. I majored in voice and minored in piano, studying voice with Barbara Steinhaus. I have taught both in the classroom and privately in the metro Atlanta area for 10 years.

While pursuing my degrees, I accompanied various ensembles and students at Piedmont and was a member of the elite 9-member a cappella group, Cantabile. I am currently a professional singer and pianist in the Atlanta area, singing and playing various genres including classical, worship, pop, and jazz.

I teach various genres of music—everything from classical to popular music. I believe that teaching multiple genres enables students to become well-rounded musicians and learn to express themselves in a variety of ways. I believe tha
t aural skills and the ability to read music help singers and instrumentalists alike to be the best musicians they can be.

*If you don't see your available time slot, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to accommodate your schedule!

Each individual singing voice is incredibly unique.

I have a 12-year proven record developing authentic voices of singers of all ages, stages and abilities using functional voice and somatic techniques.

As singers, we not only use our voice to communicate, but our whole self: mind, body and heart. Most teachers will give singers a few warm-ups or exercises to try and fix vocal health issues when most underlying voice pathologies have more to do with the "whole"istic connection with other forms of self. My coaching does not treat just the anatomical parts of the vocal mechanism (although these are worked very carefully and intricately), but how these parts interact with our cognitive and emotional selves. This creates healthier singers and more grounded artists allowing for more ease in all artistic endeavors. Lessons include Functional Voice Work grounded in vocal science and vocology study, mindfulness training and physical body awareness are added as part of the singers Somatic ...

About Jasmine
Who I Am
I am a professional singer and voice teacher. Helping singers find their true, authentic voice and self through artistic and technical study is my dream job and I get to do it every day! I love teaching all genres although my favorites are classical, musical theater, jazz and country/folk. I grew up singing country and bluegrass music before being trained classicaly and I still enjoy doing this every opportunity I get. I also play the fiddle (bluegrass style, not classical!) I love spending time outside hiking, camping and gardening. I have 3 sweet cats named Liza, Sam and Otis and an equally sweet chocolate Lab named Rosie. I love yoga, cooking, taking care of my growing number of house plants and teaching singers (of course)!
