Very nice. It would have been better if I knew what books to purchase ahead of time. To maximize the lesson time, teacher should send expectations and tips for success to students ahead so preparation can take place. Be sure to have your own equipment too.

Experienced piano teacher of 9 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical skills. I specialize in technique, typically use piano adventures books, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: a piano, metronome, etc.

About Rachel
**IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK LESSONS WITH ME IN NEW YORK CITY I AM HERE FOR JUNE 2017! WE CAN SWITCH TO A SKYPE FORMAT AFTER THAT :)

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I have been teaching lessons professionally for over 10 years now. My primary instruments are voice and piano, and I also teach music theory/ear training/musicianship skills. I earned my degree in vocal performance from James Madison University, where I taught lessons to non-music majors as well as tutored general music for the student population. I am currently getting my masters in voice and pedagogy (teaching) from the Peabody Conservatory. I would describe my teaching style as fun and relaxed, with a strong emphasis on healthy technique. I believe that all students should have a strong technical foundation, and that begins on day one. Genres I teach include classical, musical
theatre, pop, and accompanying skills for pianists. I can also help with audition prep on both instruments. I look forward to meeting with you!

Cheerful and energetic teacher with several years of teaching experience and over 18 years of performing experience. I teach my students technique, artistry & musicianship, music theory, music history, composition, sightreading, and improvisation. I believe in a wholistic approach to music that expands beyond the boundaries of the keyboard. In order to understand the piano, you must also understand music as a whole! I firmly believe that that the key to success in learning how to play the piano is learning how to become your own teacher. Many students don't realize that 99% of the work is done at home. Unfortunately, most teachers don't teach their students how to practice, resulting in very slow progress and a bored and frustrated student. I give my students the tools they need to learn quickly, which improves their focus and motivation, and most importantly allows them to have fun! My curriculum focuses on classical music, but also incorporates other genres like jazz and pop ...

About Sarah
I am a pianist and light lyric soprano. In May 2017, I graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in College Park. I received my B.M. in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Mayron Tsong and my B.A. in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Linda Mabbs. I am a CAPA scholarship recipient and a member of Pi Kappa Lambda. I have maintained a private piano studio since 2014 and also teach additional skills such as music theory, music history, improvisation, and sightreading. I am excited about introducing children to the beauty of music and believe that learning an instrument positively affects individuals in all areas of life. Listening to, practicing, and performing music equips children with important skills that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Since the age of 8, I have also been an active performer and competitor
in the Washington Metropolitan Area. At the age of 15, I débuted with both the Capital City Symphony and the JMU Symphony Orchestra in performances of Liszt’s Totentanz. I have won numerous awards and competitions in VA, MD, and D.C. In 2010, I placed 2nd in the NSO Young Soloist’s Competition and performed at the Kennedy Center Mainstage. In 2013, I won the Golden the Voices of America Competition and performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. This year, I won the Mary Graham Lasley Scholarship Competition in Alexandria, VA and as a result will be performing the Barber Piano Concerto with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra in their next season. In past years I have also performed at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Atlas Performing Arts Center in D.C., and the Alden Theater in McLean, VA. One of my primary passions is new music, and I have premiered numerous compositions at the New Music at Maryland recital series. In 2013, I was invited to collaborate with the New Street Dance Group in a performance of two new works for chamber ensemble at the FringeArts Festival in Philadelphia. In future years, I hope to frequently premiere new works on an international scale.

Want to learn piano or know the secret to playing any song you hear? How about music theory, songwriting, or music production? Whatever it is, let's make it fun! I believe in people more than music, and that's why my lessons are focused on developing the individual along with proper technique and enjoyment. Besides classical, I also specialize in contemporary Christian music and other modern genres. Get to know and understand music inside-out and do so with purpose!

About Justin
Hi! I'm Justin, and above all I honor God as the source of my life and the originator of music itself!

It's funny that what got me hooked into music was video games. The music played during epic adventures and quests made me feel incredible; it helped me escape into another world, a world of wonder. That's how music should make everyone feel. I got my first keyboard in 2005, and since then I began teaching myself piano and later began formal lessons in my last year of high school. After that, I attained my Bachelor's of Arts in Music Performance from Morgan State University.

My time at Morgan was incredible! How rich it was, being able to learn from so many incredible teachers such as composer James Lee III (who has had his music performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra), along with my time in the world-renowned Morgan State Choi
r (who has traveled the globe and even performed at the White House for former President Barack Obama. I've been thoroughly trained in classical music: Piano, choral, and orchestral, and bring that wealth of knowledge with me to enrich YOU.

Besides my formal training, I am a recording artist with Holy Host Ministries, a Christian rap and worship group from Baltimore, Maryland with whom I co-produce music, song-write, and perform.

I also help lead worship at my church, Church At Baltimore, 2-3 Sundays out of the month. So, I am passionate about and well-versed in Christian music.

I love God and love people, and get great joy out of being able to help develop them in their musical goals while reaching their destiny!

What's your goal for yourself as a music student? What do you want to be able to do when you sit down and set your hands on the piano? What's the song you've always hoped to be able to play?

You know what?? That's my goal for you too! I want you to learn what you hope to learn as I want you to experience the personal joy of meeting your goals, learning this "piano thing" really isn't that hard, and developing the skill level so that playing the piano can be one of the greatest loves of your life... I know that's what it has been for me.

I am passionate about my students and helping them learn what they want to learn on the piano. I am classically trained and find great joy spending the time and effort it takes to become technically proficient at my craft. Some of my students prefer to learn classical piano, and we can spend time together learning music theory and becoming technically proficient. It's great fun! However, I also play the piano by ear and accompany myself ...

About Jordan
Hi there,

First let me thank you for taking the time to read through my site. The first thing you should know about me, is that I LOVE what I do. I love teaching my students how to become excellent at the piano, whether they are just starting out or picking up the instrument once again. As a music therapist I have learned the power of music to help shape and transform our lives... it sounds corny and cliche... but I mean it! Whether it's recreating a classic Chopin piece, or learning that Rihanna song on the radio, or putting to life what only you heard in your head with an original tune... I want to be apart of helping you meet your music goals.

Why should you let me teach you? Well... I'll tell you... I myself have been playing the piano since I was 2.5 years old. I am familiar with classical styles of training, as well as co
ntemporary music and some jazz styles as well. But most importantly as a music therapist, I have the ability to teach you in creative ways. We can work through lesson books, if that's what you like (trust me I love those too), or we can come up with our own lessons based on your styles and interest.

The other reason you should hire me, is that I'm not just passionate, but I'm competent. I'm good at what I do. I have experience teaching children as young as 4 years old up through high school aged. I also have experience with adults, so I believe that I can adapt any lesson to any age and learning style. I have been teaching the piano on and off since 2005. I have a strong work ethic. I take your time seriously and I honor the fact that you are paying for a service. I therefore will do my best to pack as much as I can into your lesson time, and respect that you could choose from a long list of people to teach you how to play the piano... and you chose me! I promise not to take that for granted. Now... let's get started...
