Jason tailors the course to a student's individual learning pace and needs. There is also a good combination between theory and learning cords to play a song. Technique is emphasized to build good habits and a foundation for future growth.

About Roger
I love teaching! I love connecting with people to find out what inspires them and I feel that I learn as much from my students as I teach them.

I have over 25 years of playing experience in a variety of styles and nearly 20 years of experience teaching the guitar to many hundreds students of all ages and backgrounds. I have taught in many different situations, including through schools, music stores and privately. I am primarily trained as a classical guitarist and I hold a Master of Music Degree in Guitar Performance from The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. I have been told by many of my students that I am patient, understanding, very approachable and fun.

Whatever our goals may be in learning to play a musical instrument, the experience and skills we gain in doing so can serve us in every area of our li
ves.

Music is for me a journey of self-discovery. I would love to share in and be a guide on your journey too!

Roger teaches our 8 year-old daughter introduction lessons for guitar. His casual approach and friendly demeanor are a perfect approach. Our daughter anticipates weekly interaction with Roger; she considers him a friend who plays guitar games and patiently listens to her stories while they play.

Roger is both a skilled musician and measured teacher focused on the long-game of loving music rather than immediate gains. We are very please with his work.

Roger was my first guitar teacher, and one of the best teachers that I've had the pleasure to work with. As a professional guitarist, I have had the chance to look back on when I was studying with Roger and compare my opinion now to the opinion I had while I was studying with him. My opinion now is the same as it was back then: Roger is an exceptionally capable and talented educator. He is very easy to work with and is always flexible in each lesson. Flexibility is important; an ideal teacher will have lesson plans with specific skills that he/she feels the student needs to learn, but they will also allow the student's current interests to guide the lessons. Roger was always happy to address any questions or concerns I had, but also made sure to guide my attention to critical skills that helped me grow as a musician. One such skill is proper technique, which is necessary for improving the student's ability to play and for preventing injury. With his background as a classical guitarist, Roger was able to teach me perfect left and right hand technique, which is something I still consider to be one of my strongest assets as a guitarist. His skills and interests extend far beyond classical guitar into genres like rock and jazz. In our lessons we would work on just about anything. We covered topics and styles like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Wes Montgomery, improvisation, James Taylor's fingerstyle playing, music theory, and sight reading. Overall, I found Roger to be an ideal teacher for students at any skill level, from total beginners to those who are highly experienced.

Roger taught guitar lessons to my son Jeffery for 7 years (starting from age 7). Roger is very competent in teaching all ages and making sure the lessons were age appropriate and interesting.

Jeffery really looked forward to weekly lessons with Roger which were only discontinued because we relocated out of state. Roger was not only a teacher but also a mentor to Jeffery, allowing my son to explore all genres of music and methods.

Roger is classically trained and teaches his students to read music and is knowledgeable and offers up to date music lessons.

My son is now in college and taking a music major. I am truly convincined that Roger's influence and care helped grow Jeffery's natural interest in music. I would highly recommend Roger for music lessons. He is a gifted teacher.

The bass guitar is probably the most overlooked instrument in the traditional rock band. I will help you understand how to play tastefully and to groove with a drummer. You never want to be in the way; you're there to make everyone else sound good (they probably won't without you!).

About Francis
Hi everyone! I'm a hard-working musician with a background in live performance, songwriting, composition, and home recording. I want to help you perform the music you love, whether you're playing to your family, your webcam, or a 15,000 seat arena. I have been teaching private music lessons since 2007.

I am a graduate of UCSD, where I completed my bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. I have taken years of private lessons, played bass, guitar, and mandolin in local and touring bands, and my music has been featured on at least 7 albums. I want to make your goals accessible, and I want to help you find your sound.

*** Lesson Details ***
I focus on making lessons fun for my students. I emphasize the importance of practicing on your own and building confidence by performing live and/or writing your own songs. I love to hel
p people get better at sounding like themselves.

During lessons from me, you can expect to play, sing, clap your hands, and become completely immersed in the music you love. Whether your goal is to perform in front of an audience, record albums, or just play for fun in your living room, I'll help you make that happen.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room, seating available, street parking.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I only teach students who provide their own instrument. I am willing to provide a loaner guitar for the week if a student's instrument needs to be repaired or is not accessible for any reason. I also provide homework when necessary :)

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching confidence in performance practices, technique, singing and playing, and good microphone habits for singing, speaking, recording, and songwriting. I teach based on student needs, and I find each student benefits from a different curriculum.

Students can experience a lesson plan directly formulated towards their own personal interests. This could range from basic guitar fundamentals, which include learning basic chords, scales, reading music, playing different rhythmic patterns and playing beginner level songs. More advanced topics could also be implemented such as, modes, rhythmic syncopation, and harmonic chord progressions. Also, if the student wants to learn how to play their favorite songs this can also be arranged.

About Jeremy
I have been an avid music lover my entire life and have also been playing music for almost 20 years, while having experience playing music in multiple bands around the Baltimore/D.C./Virginia area. I enjoy listening and playing all types of music and genres. I graduated from Anne Arundel Community College with an Associates degree in Transfer Studies while completing their music theory program. Currently I am attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County while pursuing a Bachelors degree in Music Education.
I have proficient skills in music performance, sight reading, sight singing, music theory, part writing and composition. If you want to start to uncover music theory, or you just learn to play a few of your favorite songs or solos I can help get you where you want to be. I look forward to teaching all inspired musicians
to help them fulfill their musical goals.

I am a beginner guitar player inspiring to become the next Eddie Hazel (Of Funkadelic fame for you unenlightened ones). I was referred to Jeremy by a former music teacher at Anne Arundel Community College. I was able to set up a weekly time with him at his house. He has a very clean and professional setting. I have been taking lessons under Jeremy's tutelage for a few months now. I have to say I am surprised at my own progress. My technical skills are blossoming but it's the music theory that is the real gift that Jeremy has given me. I always shrugged theory off thinking if I can hear it, I can play it. But now I am beginning to see the doors that music theory can open. Music is a vast universe and I have to give him credit for opening my ears, eyes, and mind to the possibilities of soooouuunds.

Perfect first session. Michael adapted to Rory's deep understanding of music theory but total lack of knowledge of the bass. He was thoughtful, patient, and adaptive introducing the bass and providing practice suggestions to Rory. I recommend Michael in the highest terms as an instructor for beginners and knowing his vast education and experience in the bass I must assume this travels though the entire range of students - beginner to advanced. We look forward to the next lesson.

I have a good 4 years of experience using my band performance guitar abilities, and knowledge of music theory/production towards bass technique and practice. I understand the role a bass should play in most pop/funk/soul/rock/reggae/alternative/blues settings, and I work with students on right hand finger technique, holding rhythm and staying in the pocket, theory and scales, and learning songs is a great benchmark to cover all of those essentials.

About Juan
I am an experienced musician, singer, and teacher. I have six years of performing and touring experience, and six years teaching private lessons as well as at the School Of Rock in Ballwin, MO. I like to work with my students on their specific needs/interests/desires as singers and musicians. Whether that is on technique, performance, extending range, learning songs, or simply feeling more comfortable with your singing voice and your performing abilities, I am happy to help you grow as a singer and musician.

Bass is the foundation under and connection between all instruments. Learn how to groove AND how to avoid injuries! Max takes a multi-instrumentalist approach to teaching the bass, bringing together bass's tonal and rhythmic roles through understanding both harmonic theory and percussion.

About Max
Come learn a first, second, or even third instrument! In addition to voice, Max specializes in multi-instrumentalism and fluency between genres. Many of Max's students learn at least two instruments, and for very good reason! Learning multiple instruments (and styles/genres) increases one's musical ability and understanding of the big picture in ways that a single focus simply can't. It's comparable to learning multiple languages. There's also time and a place to buckle down on technique and to focus on one thing exclusively, and Max is mindful of this as well. In his lessons, he creates new exercises to address each student's specific needs and keeps the focus narrow enough to avoid a distracting information overload.

Most importantly, Max teaches through questions, in the spirit of "teach a man to fish...." This allows students
to gain a degree of self sufficiency and an appetite for discovery. Lessons are fun, personal, efficient (and at times, just inefficient enough to feel comfy), and relaxed. Max's teaching space features classic instruments and amps, including a vintage Fender Rhodes, and a full featured recording studio. It's a perfect environment for learning and creativity, and it's also a short walk to all of Hampden's best shops and restaurants.

Outside of teaching, Max actively performs as a classical/early music singer, and does regular session work on vocals, bass, guitar, trumpet, and keys. He also composes for film, and runs a mobile recording business specializing in classical, acoustic, and jazz. His work has taken him both around the country and overseas.

My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:

1. theory -- if you know your theory, you know the best way to express your idea without having to think about it
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally

When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it

About David
As bass players, we are in a unique position in most situations. Since bass is both a harmony and rhythm instrument we have the opportunity to develop into leaders in a way other instrumentalists don't. I will encourage students interested in exploring this aspect of their instrument

I have a degree in music performance and once pursued a career, but playing is now something I do primarily for fun. I want my students to be able to have as much fun playing as I do

David is fantastic. He is very smart and his formal education in music shines through in his teachings. He teaches the proper foundational techniques which may be harder to adopt initially but without it, advancement to high level playing is much more difficult and time consuming. David's direct teaching style creates very efficient sessions and maximum progression. David has the right balance of formal music education to ensure proper technique, and his personal band side project to ensure that you are enjoying the process since that's what's most important.

My lessons focus on building a solid technical foundation that will give you the tools to learn to play whatever you want to play down the road on your own. I use the same curriculum I taught myself to play from and adjust it to meet the needs of the individual. As a professional, touring bass player of 10+ years, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, I can guide you through gaining the skills you need in order to be a part of a band, or to hone your abilities on your own. Lessons with me are for those who are seriously interested in learning to play their instrument, and who seek to be versatile, solid players who can adapt to any situation. There is a shortage of good bass players in the world; I'm here to help change that!

About Justine
Hi! I'm Justine. I'm a professional, touring, recording bass player who is originally from western New Jersey. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance for Electric Bass. I've toured all over the world, from the 50 States, to Europe, to Japan. I've been lucky to play bass for some exceptional people, including Cheryl Crow's former lead guitarist, Todd Wolfe, one of the founding members of Robert Randolph & the Family Band, John Ginty, and a very talented blues singer, Jj Thames. I've shared the stage with people like John Popper and Bernard Purdy, and have played bass on several albums in my professional career. Bass is my passion. Though many people might not see the importance of the instrument, since we're not generally the up-front, flashy members of the band, that doesn't take aw
ay from all that the instrument is. We are the "engine room." Without us, there would be no foundation to build a song on. I'm proud to be the backbone, secretly-in-charge member of the band, even when I'm not recognized for it. I love to teach others all the things I've learned over the course of my 15 years playing bass, and nothing makes me happier than to see someone get real joy out of being a part of creating music.
