I've been teaching Voice Lessons for 10 years. I have structure my lessons efficiently so each student begins with the same fundamental techniques appropriate to Classical and Broadway singing. This has been an amazing process with my God son. He has ADHD and while initially he had some difficulty being focused he is beginning to slow down and is grasping the ability to learn. Wilma is very patient and an excellent instructor. We really approach her.

As a bass opera singer and professional voice over artist, I am dedicated to creating a healthy and beautiful sound with my own voice and the voices of my students. I will not come into our lessons saying there is a single way to sing. In fact, many genres require a great deal of varying vocal techniques and stylized voices. What I will do is help to lay a foundation in healthy singing so that you feel comfortable singing any genre. We will start by ensuring that your breath and vowel placement feels comfortable and from there move into repertoire of your choosing or some that I recommend based upon your interests. You will leave your tenure with me empowered to continue your passion and career for singing long after your lessons end. Music is meant to be shared. Together, we will help you to share the music and passion that you hold so dear.

I can’t say enough great things about Matthew! He has been an amazing teacher - his technical expertise, his tremendous patience, and his ability to explain in simple terms and help me understand proper vocal technique has been instrumental in my development. I’m grateful to have found Matthew - he has shown a level of support and commitment to my goals that I haven’t seen in other teachers and I am excited to continue working with him, as I know that with his guidance I’ll achieve them.

Broadway/Musical Theater has a rich and exciting history, evolving from opera to operetta, to major movie productions from the golden era of Hollywood in the 1940's/ 1950's to radical social and political themes from the 1960's (a la Hair) to present day Hamilton. We survey this history with songs spanning the Musical Theater genre, and focus on songs of student's choosing. Exploration of story-line, character study, and "song as monologue" are major considerations within lessons. Audition preparation can be part of the lessons as indicated by the student. In terms of the Broadway "sound", we use exercises that expand the voice in volume, range and emotional expression.

Rachel has taught our son since first grade; he's now in third. She's tailored lessons to his musical taste (the Beatles) while providing a strong foundation on which to build. She's been very flexible and accommodating throughout the switch from in-person to remote lessons, and he really enjoys the time with her. Knowing that so many kids are motivated by short-term goals, she's planned even more recitals during this remote time than when they were solely in-person, and that's been a great motivator for our son to practice.

DO NOT BOOK WITH RACHEL PANAY RAZIEL
It is with deep regret that I have to report that Rachel was clearly INTOXICATED during her lessons with my children today (ages 14 & 11). We will not be using Take Lessons again. There is no way an app can sufficiently vet all these teachers. Please don’t put your children in danger and learn this lesson the hard way like we didi.

Rachel is a great teacher for my 12 year old child. Rachel builds her confidence and meets her exactly where she is at. I highly recommend her.

I am a creative and innovative instructor who loves helping each student find their voice and pursue their unique interests musically.  I completed my Masters in Music at Northwestern University in 2015, where I sought to create and present exciting multimedia recitals that combined classical music with other art forms. I believe one of the most important things we can do as musicians is connect music to our larger experiences, and, in my lessons, I help students form a strong technical and theoretical foundation as well as connect to the deeper meanings and connections of songs. For the past 3 years, I have taught voice and piano lessons with Flatts and Sharpe Music Company in Chicago and have extensive experience teaching online lessons.

About Harrah

I earned her Master’s degree from Northwestern University where I appeared in numerous operas and premiered several works by contemporary composers. As the Assistant Artistic Director of the new music coalition, NONop, I searched for new and exciting multimedia performances practices and directed a

Singing is one of the most joyful activities you can do! Anyone can learn to sing.
I love teaching others to sing and perform, and I've been doing so for over 20 years - through private lessons, music theater workshops, music schools and choruses. I work with students where they are at and help them to build a solid technique that works for them.

I was looking for a vibrant, fun piano teacher for my kids as they were not motivated by strict teachers who also taught them boring songs they could not relate to. What a gift of a teacher we found in Catherine. Not only is she warm, kind, caring with an easy rapport for kids and adults alike but she is also an excellent piano and voice instructor. This talented lady is a professional singer too who is well versed in Broadway show tunes and opera too. She also instill her students with a sense of musical rhythm and is holistic in her approach to kids who might need a little physical warm up before class in order to attend better. Catherine’s voice is magnificent and we were fortunate enough to attend a show where she played the lead for The Taming of the Shrew.
She is a professional voice and classical opera teacher too and this complements her piano instruction .. A perk is she can travel to your home or does lesions in her own home . In addition
is a passionate, excellent voice teacher for anyone who is looking to hone their vocal skills and talents. I wholeheartedly recommend Catherine - her lessons are more than just teaching - she is a true mentor and educator in every sense of the word.
