About Benjamin
I discovered music sifting through my Dad's record collection and soon decided that I wanted to play guitar. As a teenager I began taking lessons and building confidence in my abilities. I played in different types of bands ranging from rock, country, blues, and jazz. After completing College in 2004, I realized music was not just going to be a hobby, but a career. At age 37, I have been teaching and playing guitar professionally for the last 13 years. I believe that anybody can learn to play as long as they are patient and understand that anything worthwhile takes time and sustained effort to achieve. You also need a good teacher who understands how to take you where you want to go musically. I have taught hundreds of different students of all ages and abilities. I have seen many of them grow musically and gain confidence in other
areas of their lives as a result. I aim to inspire every student to find their way to a rewarding life through music.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson plans are developed on an individual basis. I want you to learn the music that inspires your passion. If the guitar is new to you, the first lessons are devoted to basic playing skills and techniques. It is important to develop a strong understanding of music fundamentals to ensure that the student is attaining the skills they need to be a complete musician. I emphasize technique with drills designed to raise my students' skills evenly across a wide range of categories, like picking, fretting, scale patterns, chord shapes, rhythm training, and ear training. I have had success with many students using this approach and most are playing songs within a couple months. For the more serious student, music theory is an important tool to understand songwriting and music in general. I am always open to discuss what we do during a lesson. I believe it is my job to balance what you want to do with what you need to do in order to succeed.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have amps, guitars, 1/4 inch cables, tuners, metronomes, paper and pens.
Would like students to have all these things but can accommodate based on need.

*** Specialties ***
Rock, Pop, Blues, Country, flat-picking, finger-style

I must say that Benjamin was great. I come from no musical background and had zero knowledge. Benjamin made me feel relaxed and broke down the sessions in an easy way so that I could understand the concept of what we were trying to accomplish. I look forward to future lessons and learning how to play the guitar

Acting – I have taught all kinds of acting, including Audition Skills, Shakespeare, Stage, Film & TV, Dramatic, Comedic, whatever. I also have quite a bit of experience performing in all those arenas. I have a relationship with one of the best management agencies in the area, so my students get fast-tracked with her.

Voice – Anyone can sing. If you want to and have always thought you couldn't, you will be delighted when I prove you wrong. Training for the voice is pretty much the same, whatever style you are interested in. Then I'll coach you in your chosen style and we'll pick songs you like.

Singing beautifully is not enough. I can't tell you how many times I heard in grad school "beautiful voices are a dime a dozen." I will teach you how to OWN the song. That's what keeps people coming back.

Speaking – Every public spe
aker I know has lost their voice at some point, but not from talking too much. It's because they don't know how to use their voice properly. Learn that, and you need never lose your voice to over-use. That's easy to teach.

Writing – I have been a professional writer and editor for over eight years, with many books, articles, posts, newsletters, etc. to my name. I use – and teach – practical grammar, not just correct grammar. I can also help you make your words more powerful.

I've been taking lessons with Susan Scher for about two months now. I can easily say I've been impressed at how much I've improved. I look forward to lessons every week. I feel that soon enough I'll be able to audition for roles in film and television. If you live in the Baltimore area and are interested in voice acting or any acting in general. Contact her and go, you won't be disappointed.

I did not know what to expect when I signed up to take classes with Susan. I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too.

About William
I have been tutoring since 2014 when I worked in Spanish elementary school. Prior to that, I graduated from Exeter Univeristy with a Master's in Social and Political Philosophy and a Bachelor's degree in Politics from the University of Leicester. I also was employed by the prestigous tutoring service Titanium Tutors in London.

I teach Philosophy, Political Sciences, and History up to advanced level having covered these subjects extensivley over my college career. I can teach Spanish up to intermediate level having lived in Spain and studied at school, as well as English, Geography, and Religion. I am also happy teaching writing skills and preparing for exams.

I believe the best way for students to learn is through a dialogue, for them to show they understand. To acheive this, I avoid lecturing and rote learning. Instead, I set out cl
ear learning objectives at the start and then ask appropriate questions to ascertain the student's understanding throughout our lessons together. This way my lessons are personable, and geared towards the individual student's needs.

I also believe learning should be enjoyable. I create a fun, enthusiastic lesson environment. I have worked with students of all ages and have built good rapport with them all. I look forward to getting to know you and starting working together soon!

About Milka
My name is Milka T. Woldu. I have been tutoring for about 8 years now. I am an MB3 (Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Biochemistry) Major. I believe students learn science by doing science, and that my classes are a medium through which my students will learn life skills that are critical for their success in college and future careers. As our students must be prepared to work cooperatively in a global and technological society where many of them will eventually hold jobs that do not yet exist, I emphasize critical thinking and problem solving, using our science content to develop good evidence-based reasoning and communication skills.

About Sawdatou
I am an undergraduate Psychology student in my senior year at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Writing students can expect to improve upon their organizational and cohesive writing skills. Depending on the assignment or task at hand their are different approaches to writing. The audience, purpose, and format of each written document must be taken into consideration. I can help students identify these different aspects and approaches to writing.

I have had experience teaching young children. I have also worked with older students. I am able to break down basic as well as more complex aspects of writing and can help students increase in their comfortability and confidence in their own writing skills and techniques. In high school I was the president of a club that aided students in preparing for college. I helped my peers w
rite and edit college essays that played an important roll in their admissions process.

As a college student I have taken multiple English courses as well as humanities classes in which I worked to perfect my writing skills. I believe that the best teachers are those that continue to learn regardless of their expertise because all of us can improve on the skills we already have.

My personal passion is narrative writing. I love relaying my own stories or the stories of others. This kind of writing allows me to express my emotions and to also feel the emotions and better understand the experiences of others by trying to look at the world through their eyes. I look forward too meeting you and being able to help you foster, grow, and share the love of writing!

About Gabriela
I'm an artist, educator, and scholar who uses a methodological, student-centered approach to help you achieve your goals. I teach music lessons and provide reading and writing tutoring to beginning and intermediate students. Here's some more specific info on each one of my services:
___________________________________________________________________________
Music Lessons:
After completing my undergraduate education at Santa Clara University, where I majored in flute and vocal performance, I freelanced as a music professional in the San Francisco Bay Area for three years. I then relocated to the University of Notre Dame, where I received a Master of Sacred Music degree in voice and directed a children's choir in the Notre Dame Children's Choir. I also taught percussion and competed as a marching percussionist for six years, winning the
award of "Best Percussionist" with the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets and leading my groups to successful competitions during the fall marching season and the winter indoor percussion season. I'm currently a freelancing vocal professional in Baltimore.

If you're looking for voice instruction, flute instruction, or you'd simply like to learn and hone music skills (like sight reading, rhythms, ear-training) from a high-level musician with a broad range of experience, please contact me!
____________________________________________________________________________
Reading and Writing Tutoring:
I have successfully tutored undergraduate and graduate students in reading and writing for over eight years. At Santa Clara University, where I received a B.A. in English, I was vice-president of the English Honor Society and tutored undergraduate students for first-year composition courses. At San Francisco State University I earned my M.A. degree in English Composition, a degree which focuses on the teaching of college-level reading and writing. There I served as a tutor for the English Tutoring Center and the Student Success Program.

If you're a beginning student looking for reading and writing tutoring where I teach you writing skills (like brainstorming, drafting, and editing) or an intermediate student who simply needs an extra pair of eyes to bring your writing to the next level, please contact me!

I look forward to hearing how I can help you reach your goals.
